Glad you assumed the worst. Actually, the rationale behind the "easy way" title is the brand SBL has given their tutorial videos because they are high quality, short, and to the point. And each tactic is suggested with the least amount of steps possible.
There is no telling there actual intention of the title you may be right and i may be right. I will say i would not have clicked on the video without expecting some method of getting l cancel down easier and that Is why i guessed it was for views
***** Just so you know, David made this particular video. You're hearing his voice, seeing his editing, and playing. So yes he is correct in why we used the "easy way" phrase. We're glad you watched the video nonetheless.
+Smash Bros. Legacy Still seems a lot like clickbait. If you guys decided to name it that and didn't think "hey, if we name it that, won't people think we are teaching a different way to do the tech people are struggling with?", then you had these replies coming. To reply to a personally reasonable comment with "glad you assumed the worst" is kind of like wasting other's time and then blaming them for it.
+Nightcore Lullaby That's fair. We started with our video on wavedashing, which was "the easy way" in all literal respects. From there we wanted to create a consistent, branded video. So it evolved and we can see why people would mistaken its intent. Do you have any recommendations for renaming the series?
Small trick: I use Z for areals. I also use Z to l-cancel. If you use attacks low enough (esp with FF) Then hitting Z both attacks and L cancels with a single press. Best sometimes to use with marth's fair and foxes dair/nair/fair
I'll still be using z a second time at the same time as I would've with actually using l, save for attacks low enough to the ground, yeah? just want to make suurree
+linkerDA I use dolphin emulator and anthers ladder, you can play online any time. Setting it up is kind of a pain but you can get local connections and talk to people.
something that i learned is that right after my aerial land on the opponent i immediately push down on the control stick then press L it helps me because timing is way different when hitting an opponent and just doing it. Hope this helped somebody out there
Actually, I _didn't_ learn exactly how to L-cancel. The explanation with Fox and Bowser only shows when did the technique miss and hit, but not the button presses themselves, so I have no idea of the time margin available. For example, in terms of Fox body-lengths from the ground, what is the earliest time when I can press L and get an L-cancel?
Carlos Andrés Solís Well for one thing, if you watched earlier in the video, you can see the button presses (three different examples). If you're wondering about the exact timing, you need to press L, R or Z 1-7 frames before landing with any character. There's more information on SmashWiki. www.ssbwiki.com/L-canceling
+Carlos Andrés Solís That's a really petty excuse, he said there were freeze frames and that you have to hit later for them. He didn't have to show any video for a sane human to get that, you are just trying to point out issues that don't exist. If that video prohibited you from understanding the concept, you might as well give up.
It's easier to use the A button for me, since I'm in the air I gotta move my hand all the way down to the c-stick. I don't really see a need to use it.
I have an easier way that doesn't take 2:00 to explain.Hit shield right before you hit the ground after using an aerial. I recommend angling your stick down or diagonally down so you waveland if your move ends and you still shield.
Well that explains how CPUs are going from wave dash to short hop f-air to immediate short hop f-air. I didn't even know this was a concept. I feel lied to.
because it wasnt gone over in the video and people keep asking what the easy way is: the easy way is to press a shoulder button just slightly. you dont have to completely press the button to l cancel, just partially.
hoping you'd know since I play a fan game on a keyboard, and hoping it uses the inputs for the same purpose (like taunt for taunt and all that), what is my l and r buttons?
+Decay According to a biography by Galileo's pupil Vincenzo Viviani, in 1589 the Italian scientist Galileo Galilei had dropped two balls of different masses from theLeaning Tower of Pisa to demonstrate that their time of descent was independent of their mass.[1]:19-21 Via this method, he supposedly discovered that the objects fell with the same acceleration, proving his prediction true, while at the same time disprovingAristotle's theory of gravity (which states that objects fall at speed relative to their mass). At the time when Viviani asserts that the experiment took place, Galileo had not yet formulated the final version of his law of free fall. He had, however, formulated an earlier version which predicted that bodies of the same material falling through the same medium would fall at the same speed.[1]:20 This was contrary to what Aristotle had taught: that heavy objects fall faster than lighter ones, in direct proportion to weight.[1]:9[2]While this story has been retold in popular accounts, there is no account by Galileo himself of such an experiment, and it is accepted by most historians that it was a thought experiment which did not actually take place.[3][4] An exception is Drake, who argues that it took place, more or less as Viviani described it, as a demonstration for students.[1]:19-21, 414-416 Galileo arrived at his hypothesis by a famous thought experiment outlined in his book On Motion.[5] Imagine two objects, one light and one heavier than the other one, are connected to each other by a string. Drop this system of objects from the top of a tower. If we assume heavier objects do indeed fall faster than lighter ones (and conversely, lighter objects fall slower), the string will soon pull taut as the lighter object retards the fall of the heavier object. But the system considered as a whole is heavier than the heavy object alone, and therefore should fall faster. This contradiction leads one to conclude the assumption is false.
+pielord177 Jigglypuff is the balloon pokemon, is light, and falls slowly, just like a normal balloon. Your argument is invalid. The problem is that it's not a question of mass but of density. If something is less dense than air, it wont fall at all, but instead, will rise. If something is slightly more dense than air, it will have a very low terminal velocity. It is not the only thing that effects terminal velocity, but having dense robot legs will help you fall like a lead balloon.
+Zadamanim everyone in smash should fall at the same speed except for jiggs and Kirby... yay you disproved my reasoning for 2 characters out of the 26 characters that are in the game... I hope you feel proud of yourself.
pielord177 Well I mean smaller characters are more aerodynamic, and shiek is weiring a body suit. So it make sense for bigger characters like Ganondorf to fall slower. I don't know if it's canon but I always imagined Samus's suit has some sort of either anti gravity or automatic propulsion (since Samus visits different worlds with different gravity, and doesn't really wanna spend time getting used to it. The suit automatically adjusts Samus's fallspeed and weight to be what she's used to. Marth's cape isn't very aerodynamic, so it slows down his fall. Yoshi's jump works because Yoshi is a Yoshi. Everything is exaggerated, too.
+Levateinn You don't need 20XX if you are using Dolphin. Just go to the rom, go right mouse click, properties and go to the tab with AR-Codes and look for 'Flash on L-cancel'. It even works with Netplay.
supafliguy409 You're certainly entitled the believe that. But take our word for it, "The Easy Way" is our brand of short, to-the-point, easy-to-understand videos. Has nothing to do with clickbait.
+Smash Bros. Legacy Perhaps the title could be changed to something like L-Canceling (The Easy Way Episode 2) or The Easy Way: L-Canceling, this title makes it sound like there is a "trick" to L-Canceling similar to plinking links in Street Fighter IV, Instant Air Dashing in Blazblue, or option selecting grabs in Guilty Gear. It also doesn't help that the word "the" isn't capitalized in the title... And the thumbnail said (EASILY), and the the video didn't have a splash title suggesting that this was part of a series called The Easy Way. Unless you pointed it out in the comments, I would have never guessed it was part of a series at all, let alone called "EASILY" or "Easy Way." The video explains L-Canceling very well, though!
Also, this may not help for everybody but for a while i could not get the L-Cancel on Hit down but the second you hear the hit from the aerial come out you can fast fall into L or R and it should work! Repeating the true key to getting L canceling down (:
No because then you'll airdodge and go into free fall. Just make sure you are over the stage when you dair and when you stray off of it keep altitude! Only go under stage when you want to suicide dair
L cancelling only reduces landing lag. Nothing can be done about lag offstage, but if you want to do an offstage aerial remember to jump before performing the attack. If you do that you should be able to make it back.
Do you have to press L all the way down (hear the clicking sound) to L-Cancel? I've read posts that say you don't have to , but I have not been able to L-cancel once pressing it halfway. I'm using a gamecube controller on the wii, not sure if the Wii affects this. I'm still able to light-shield though.
You dont have to press it all the way through, even the lightest input will work Thats why you can also L Cancel with the Z button (which is a macro for A+lightest press of a shoulder button) It is also recommended to not press is all the way through because its more strength efficient
***** A button with a macro combines two other button presses, like I stated above. The C-Stick is a macro as well when it is being used for attacks (this is not working in the vanilla singleplayer mode). It combines pressing the left control stick in the direction the C-Stick is facing + A
+Kyle Blasberg let go of L or R (whatever you're using) as soon as you land because you're only doing it to cancel the lag so there is no need to hold them anymore.
See this video is wrong and these videos are the reason why I took so long to learn how to L-Cancel. They forget to mention that you have to Short hop - aerial - FAST FALL - L Cancel (Right or Left trigger). When your aerial animation is over then you have to hold down and immediately press the shoulder buttons when you land from the fast fall.
+SWERIC1 it's not wrong. You don't have to short hop or even fast fall to l-cancel. You just have to be in end lag from an aerial. You're thinking of SHFFLing. Additionally, you don't wait for the animation to be over. If the animation is over, l-canceling does nothing. L-canceling halves end-lag from aerials.
When they showed how the shield came out faster for L-canceling, that was showing the first frame the character was able to perform any action. L-canceling allows you to act faster after landing with an aerial attack so you can either avoid getting punished or throw out another move quicker. It really only starts to be a relevant problem at higher levels of play.
Your titles make absolutely no sense to me. There was no "easy technique" shown to perform a L-Cancel, neither is there a hard way to L-Cancel in my knowledge. Quite confusing title i would just remove "the easy way" out of it because it has no reference at all to the video.
Steve The entire point is to learn these skills and apply them. It feels good when you learn how to wavedash perfectly or consistently l-cancel. It also helps you win, so it keeps you interested.
Steve You got me. I like it because my scrubby ass friends can't do it and it isn't super hard to do. Also, i've seen people psyche out their opponents by not l-canceling moves at random.
+Steve L-Cancelling IS artificial difficulty, but in the same way as wavedashing. You can do all the movement options of wavedashing with most of the cast, they just happen slower. Saying that the wavedash makes the game more versatile is really just saying you have more options, but you don't gain options with the wavedash, just perform them quicker. The proper technique for it is so that every character doesn't just have free follow-ups that require no practice to do, and it makes the game much more enjoyable to master.
The technique was present in Smash 64 but was considerably stronger. The fact that it was toned down in melee makes it abundantly clear that it is no "glitch." Or how about how series creator Masahiro Sakurai literally mentioned the technique 空中攻撃着地 on the Smash Dojo website. He even stated that he was reluctant to take it out of the following game because it "felt good" for a lot of players. Just because an intended mechanic requires a modicum of practice to be proficient at, doesn't mean it's a glitch.
+Sam Willis That's our bad, but really it's exactly what @Zadamanim said. It's a series of easy-to-follow videos showing how laypeople can learn advanced techniques. All it is.

how do L-cancel without shielding
+Kyle Blasberg let go of L or R (whatever you're using) as soon as you land because you're only doing it to cancel the lag so there is no need to hold them anymore.
The shielding is only here for reference, on how soon you can perform anything after you land.
You're thinking of SHFFLing. i dont get the point behind L canceling is it for speed

I learned how to cancel
... wheres the (easy way)?
+Sam Willis Watching a video is the easy way to learn it.
This is the standard way to do an L-cancel. The title of the video makes it seem like there's an alternate way to L-cancel.
+Sam Willis That's our bad, but really it's exactly what @Zadamanim said. It's a series of easy-to-follow videos showing how laypeople can learn advanced techniques. All it is.
hate to be picky, but not all aerials can be air canceled...R.I.P Game&Watch ;-;
I...REALLY have to watch the rest of the video more often...
