I believe the opposite would happen, because if she deleted her social media, everyone would be digging around in her business. Whether she did it announced or unannounced. I can only assume that the reason she is doing this is because she wants to live like a normal person, and you have no way of the media leaving you alone unless you have no platform. So yes, I agree, deleting her social media would work, however her problem is that everyone is digging around in her business and personal life and it would make it worse. She's trying to take down her own platform by making sure that no one wants to be a part of it from what I can see.

Doja Cat clearly has some mental health mental health issues. This could all just be a result of that. In my opinion, I think she’s intentionally trying to ruin her own image. What she doesn’t understand is that most sane people understand that when artists say they “love” their fans they don’t mean they know and love every single person individually and personally, they mean that they appreciate their fandom in general for allowing them to pursue their passion by opening their wallets and supporting the art that the artist puts out. No one expects an artist to love every single fan individually but there has to be a level of gratitude to the fans because without them you’d be working a low-income job that you hate.

Doja would usually be high asf during these but none of the people in the chats took it personal.
The guy who exposed the chats though was literally a racist who had been stalking doja across the chats and the rest of the people in them had to keep kicking his ass out, which is why he exposed them in the first place.
I even remember people trying to turn Dindu Nuffin, a song where she mocks the yt ppl from where she grew up, into her making fun of people dying by police brutality. I’m gonna be everything you say I’m not”
I think she’s indeed a lil colorstruck, which is usually what happens when biracial children have a yt mother. Not trynna be funny. But this seems more like resentment for her fame and wanting to do things without being judged. Disclaimer: This is just my opinion.
I was watching a video similar to this and it said that Doja Cat doesn't owe anyone anything, but she does. She owes people kindness or just basic human decency til it shouldn't be given anymore, for example, hate comments that make fun of how she looks and if you think she doesn't then that's just awful thinking and makes her a foul and yourself person. If she doesn't have anything nice to say to her fans that didn't do anything then don't say it at all? Ignore the comments or turn it off. Also, the comments to a similar video were saying that they think she may be mentally ill, I think that could be a possibility why she's having mixed emotions.

What she wants to make clear however is that oeople are not giving hee handouts or doing her favor when they voluntarily decide to consume her music. She did the work, she put in the time and effort to create that product and people bought it. 50/50.
Not only that, she doesnt want to feed into the parasocial relationship with most of the people smwho say they gave her a career. I agree with you here. Doja’s method is not good, this type of communication can easily and has been taken the wrong way. And I just believe negative communication is often the least effective anyways. But I think the message she’s trying to give is right. The way people put celebrities on such a high pedestal, when they’re just people, has always been weird to me. When I’m a fan of someone I just really enjoy their work and as long as they just act like decent human beings (like I do believe actual controversies need to be addressed, like the really bad ones, not the petty drama ones) but aside from that I couldn’t care less about their personal life. I ain’t here for that after all, just the content they make. Parasocial relationships are weird and disgusting and people need to learn to just enjoy content normally. Not this obsession bs.
Again, Doja’s way of going about it ain’t right, but I do agree with the point she’s trying to make.

We were fans and the only interactions we had with our favorite artists was if we somehow were able to meet them before or after a concert. Or like fanmail? Which wasn’t actually the artist most the time. Stan culture is unhealthy and can be dangerous. I can’t imagine being famous today. Back in the day stars were hearing and seeing negative things about them in magazines or on tv, but to like be encouraged or even forced by your team to interact with fans or haters in a daily or even hourly basis. @@el7215 i agre with you so much. This behavior didnt come out of nowhere. I definitely dont agree with the way she is going about it, which is by lashing out and being a troll, but underneath the sarcasm and rudeness she has a point. People dont seem to realize how they dehumanize artists and devalue their work often. Some people actively say that artists should put up with any type os harassment just bc their life is supposedly better than 90% of people in the world. And look, you are not obligated to feel empathy for everyone, but at least realize that just bc someone is famous it doesn’t give you the right to make them your punch bag and take out all your frustrations and anger on them.
And it baffles me that some people will feel like an artist “owes them their careers” or that fans “pay their bills” and somehow that entitles them to dictate how that artist should express themselves and how they should live their life. As if by consuming their work you are doing them a favor or giving them a handout. They put time and effort and money behind that work. An album, a performance, a video is the fruit of their labor, and just bc its entertainment it doesn’t mean its morally inferior to you 9 to 5!! it all comes down to this: if you dont want to support a musician for any reason, then just dont support them anymore. fans have a hard time accepting that because while they disagree w the artist or dont like the artist anymore, there’s still a part of them that wants to consume that artist’s content. so they try to get the artist to change back to a public persona they like (or to making the type of music they like) so they can continue investing time & money into the artist. the issue lies in the fact that “fans” want to control celebs so they dont feel moral or emotional conflict in investing time & money into the musician that they still wanna support. i dont want to put a judgment on these people as “healthy” or not, but i dont think these people fit (or should fit) the definition of a “fan.” fans are essentially patrons of an artist’s art. of course it helps if the artist is likeable. but it crosses a line when they start to see these artists as objects/dolls/machines that they can control or change. because then youre not approaching the artist as a human (flawed & still deserving of basic respect). youre see them as a mere product, and youre the product manager.
but i also empathize with the misguided fans. i think musicians are in a very complex position bc their art is also a part of who they are…but also a product.
in contrast with sports, for example, like kobe, tons of kids looked up to him & formed a parasocial relationship w kobe, the basketball star. but the fact that he has a complicated family life doesnt deter people from watching him play basketball bc it’s easy to separate ball talent/work ethic from personal life.
musicians/artists dont get that clear separation as much bc their music is often ABOUT themselves. because of this, i can understand why it’s easy for a fan to care about who the artist is as a whole and have their feelings hurt when the art and artist they supported felt like a lie. there IS a sense of betrayal there that i think is a natural feeling and reaction, even if the relationship is parasocial.
and also parasocial relationships get a bad rep sometimes… we have parasocial relationships with the mailman, the deity of our religions, penpals, in-game or online friends, remotely working colleagues, and even our professors. yes social media made it into a very extreme & exaggerated problem. but every article & social commentary video only explores how parasocial relationships are so horrible and insinuating that people who form these relationships are unhealthy or mentally unstable… i really want to push back on that.

I’ve literally never seen her interact with her family or talk about a family member she’s close with. The only person she seems to have around is jstay.
She seems to be having a hard time with abandonment and her fans have been ruthless on social media especially TikTok about her, saying she worshiping the devil and that she looked so much better when she was on tour etc etc. I see this as her feeling like people are pushing her to be a certain way or they’ll withhold their love and admiration and I think that pissed her off and led her to push people away even more and to do even crazier looks.
I think she needs to see a therapist and to find new ways to connect to people and build a small community with people who love and support her as a friend. Also the whole bf being an abuser, I’m sorry but doja is definitely someone I would expect to end up in a relationship with an abuser, obviously she’s going to deny and turn a blind eye, abusers are super manipulative, that’s why Chris brown still has partners. Doja is probably entering an abusive relationship without realizing it and won’t understand or believe her victims until it’s too late.
