    It really seems like Doja’s team is milking her for all she’s worth, regardless of her mental health. You can tell she’s absolutely exhausted and she hasn’t gotten a break since Say So blew up. I really hope she can get away from Dr Luke, it’s heartbreaking to see another incredibly talented woman start crumbling under his label and control.
    (Also, I don’t think she’s ever going to get the awards recognition she deserves until Dr Luke’s name is no longer credited in her music, ie the Grammy she won this year was one where he wasn’t also nominated since it just went to the performers and not the producers, but if she would’ve won an award like AOTY, he would’ve won a Grammy for AOTY as well and the Grammys were not going to do that)

      Have you heard of a comedian named Louis C.K.? He admitted to sexual misconduct on some women a few years ago and he just won a Grammy for Best Comedy Album. So, yeah. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ever wins a Grammy in anything.

      I don’t believe this anymore.
      After she popped off on tik tok, yes she was doing a hell of a lot (including all the shoots and modelling etc)
      But this year, her workload has been no more than anyone else in music.
      To a certain extent, if you want to get into music, you have to tour, you have to release records, do interviews, shoots etc.
      I think so many of her fans saw that tweet she made last year (about being overworked) and have since used that to give her a pass on everything.

    Honestly, I am just sick of people getting so obsessed with celebrities. I understand enjoying being entertained by the music, performances, movies, TH-cam videos etc that all kinds of creatives make. However, so many people then put all these obligations onto these people that literally no other profession gets. They obsess over them in public, give them a bunch of awards, stalk them, judge them when they do things in their own time etc. Treat humans like humans!

      I feel like this ties into cancel culture as well. People wouldn't be nearly as upset about others actions if we stopped putting them on a pedestal to begin with. I don't know how we've come to a place where public humiliation is deemed acceptable. Just because we exist in an advanced civilization doesn't mean we're immune to making really bad mistakes. We're human.

    people didnt learn a lot from britney. art thrives on independance, freedom and personal life experience. when those are taken away from you because of fame or a label then its becoming incredibly difficult to mature and develop. rosalia also is critiqued alot for her new album because people liked her prior stuff a lot but i see it as a good sign that she is not scared to change her music and style when she feels like it. this is what keeps peoples art alive and their mental state sane.

      Or Whitney Houston, Bobby Christina, DMX, Chadwick Boseman, Michael Jackson. People never learned from slavery why would they learn from the products of it. Stop exploiting people period and coming up with reasons for their exploitation. It was always wrong, people just never cared. Not about the people or their obviously wrong exploitation, it's life. It should have never been up for criticism, because it wasn't people made it that way

      @@omoid1749 yes Chadwick. Being forced to work when he was literally dying of cancer, being mercilessly bullied, taunted, and harassed while receiving chemo. Or is it our people harassing and accusing him in public for the sake of it. Yes Chadwick, and it isn't nor will it ever be funny. People have lost their real lives because of this. Britney is just a poor white woman that profited from the industry and found out it never cared. Stop glorifying and leave people alone. • @omoid1749
      @omoid1749 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...okay first you need to calm the fuck down Lucy. I asked about Chadwick because I don't leave yonder and don't know all the fine details of that pop culture. Based on the original comment I thought you were mentioning other artists that were also brought into fame through exploitative contracts. This was me genuinely not knowing and being surprised at your example. Because. I genuinely didn't know. Because like I'm not on that side of the world keeping up with your tabloids. Me asking you is hoping to get more light shed on something I believed you knew more about. I was even seeing that maybe there was a theory about him being forced to work while doing chemo rather than him doing it willingly. I thought you had information on something like that.
      Coming to attack me for glorifying or vilifying or hat the fuck ever and then accusing me of faves or whatever else tells me you're looking for a fight. So calm the fuck down. This isn't Stan Twitter, this is a learning educational space and everyone here is learning. Chill.
      Also, I don't think the comment of OP was focused solely on stan culture so much more as it is the greediness of record deals combined with stans can overwhelm a "fave" as you call it.
      Lastly, I don't really have any faves. I'm not really a stan. I think stan culture is weird and they're hella toxic. Truth be told if we look at my single comment and your rant, you are the one giving stan energy. But maybe someone else pissed you off is all. Sha dont lash at me

    People talk about how bad kpop contracts are but they truly don't realize that happens for most artists in the US too. It's the exact same kind of debt contracts and the artists have no say in how much their labels spend on them and how much more debt they accumulate.

    • @aribloomfield4527
      @aribloomfield4527 2 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      hahhh this might be harsh but the difference between k pop contacts and western ones is that the k pop people are trained and the beauty standard is different so in Korea they need to be underweight and extremely skinny while in the states you must be thick and have a somewhat decent face, but yeah the world runs on money and most public figures and persons who create or use talent are exploited. Athletes, musicians, artists usually they don't earn much money usually its the choreographers, producers and behind the scene people who earn the income. that's also why labels usually have slave contracts with artists not allowing them to stop making music until the contract is up or they have to pay aloot of money which they cant afford so they keep up with the abusive cycle of the music industry.

    Fun fact: many art schools own a student's artwork if that student created that artwork for a school assignment, used it for any assignment, or displayed it in their final portfolio. The school could sue the artist if they ever use that work to make money in the future. The school can use any student's artwork as they please for as long as they please, this includes advertising.

She values her freedom and I been following her since 2015 and sis would literally make her beats on live and she didn’t even know what she was doing at first. A lot of people don’t know that about her. She is an artist who genuinely loves her craft. Once you go mainstream you lose all your freedom and then you’re constantly plagued with the chance that if you don’t do something that they will threaten your career. She was pretty big independent , dr luke literally ruins every single artist . I think she started the wild crazy look because all people would do would call her too thick , too skinny , her looks were a wayyy outshining her talent on a mainstream level. One thing they can’t control is your hair . And that’s why a lot of artist do it is because they can’t force you to put a wig on or how you express yourself. Doja has a very different and kinda dry personality. Being that I have one too peopoe don’t understand it and it turns some people off. But people forget sis is only 26 years old . She went from making bank doing everything herself and having a loyal fanbase to being controlled and not even being able to go on live without being harassed. Like the tiny chat thing, her tweets, etc.. she has to monitor constsntly now. Even when she was asked on the carpet . It was obvious she was told not to speak on it again. I pray Doja finds peace again because she’s got the talent to where she can maintain without actually needing a big push . I think she is just young and when you says a few Ms on a contract anybody her age is gonna read the first few sentences and then sign.

    Bruh the music industry is shit everywhere. I've also learnt a fair bit about the kpop industry and it's kinda the same thing, but with the training. They have to pay for the training they get so in most cases unless they're super famous from the get go, all of the money they make from music in the beginning and even later just disappears. There's more to it, but it's crazy to think that artists are fucked everywhere.
    Also unrelated but related, I recall seeing a clip of Selena Gomez saying something like "I can't wait for peeople to forget about me"...I would never want to be famous that shit sounds stressful, I'd go insane lmao

      kpop idols and artists are just plain and simple exploited. their whole lives for many are filmed and played online, they're put on crazy diets, crazy trainings and it's just modern slavery at it's finest. and as you said, many don't get properly paid after years of working and paying back their training (sometimes even costs like hotel rooms and plane tickets too). it's just awful.

The whole reason people make art is for the love of the art itself, to express themselves and feel free. But there are always going to be people who take advantage of others and will go out of their way to seek the youngest talented person they can because they'll be easier to control.

      I kinda agree but also think that its unfair to expect celebrities to push their emotions aside to respond "professionally" to things. If celebrities aren't allowed to have outbursts (which are very human, may I add), then they're essentially in a constant state of monitoring what they do and say. This almost blurs the line between their professional selves and their casual selves, which is probably not ideal from a psychological perspective. Outbursts happen, our friends, families and ourselves are guilty of having outbursts of emotion because its healthy. The important thing is to apologise afterward and admit your wrongs, that way you can recognise what led up to it and make healthier choices for your mental state to avoid it in the future.
