    Totally agree.
Thanks for sharing it with the community. It's an important thing that we don't talk about as it should be. Every ear canal has a different shape and receives frequency differently. It's like watching a painting together we see the same thing, but we might not get the same Perception ( based on experience, knowledge, preference, and visual abilities) something ideal for someone might be painful for someone else ( my problem with my mix engineer friend who always listens to DT1990 and its fabulous for him )

Very mature assessment of yourself and audio gear. This is something many reviewers don’t grasp especially considering how subjective this hobby is. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for sharing.
I think we would all benefit from reviewer's laying down their preferences. Although, they are already some that do that. Easy task: Just make one video about it, put the link to it in the description of every review and just mention it at the beginning. That's it. Simple as that.
Speaking of preferences: When not reviewing new gear, what is your absolute go-to audio chain right now?

      My personal favorite current chain…
Chord TT2 -> ECP T4 tube hybrid amp -> ZMF Atrium Closed
Speaker chain Holo Spring3 -> custom diy speaker amp -> Elekit 8500 tube preamp -> Cornscala speakers built by Justin from ampsandsound (he built the speaker and elekit as well)

Been into two channel audio for over forty years. Read more reviews on more gear than I care to mention or could ever remember. I don't recall anyone expressing as eloquently as you have such an important aspect of the 'review' process. Of course what you so clearly state applies to all aspects of our lives, especially those that are more critical than just our particular hobbies. It would be a more sane world if we heeded what you have pointed out and were more mindful of it in our daily lives, and in our relationships with each other. Thanks! Much appreciated!

Thank you! I am a firm believer in doing my best to identify my own biases good and bad as well as preferences… so that I can better assess any given situation or interaction… doesn’t always work, but it helps put myself in others shoes as best I can to understand different perspectives.
      Cheers!

Love this video, what a great discussion. It definitely applies to whiskey world as well. It made me reflect on my own preferences and biases as well.

I defiantly appreciate your wisdom in the subject matter. It's easy to get bogged down in how we should think, based on the content we consume, as opposed to our own opinions of what we like!

So much this! So easy to get lost in the being told what to like, we sometimes forget to enjoy what we actually like lol… cheers!

Thanks bro! That park is so cool! Hopefully some of the shots come out! I’m digging this lil camera for stuff like this! Way more portable!

Did I do that? (In my best Steve Urkel voice!)
No worries! I still love you!😘
Something that I’ve always said is that we’re have 5 major senses that most people experience. The is a median that the majority of people experience but within that there are variations and different tolerance levels. We don’t all see, taste, smell or feel the same. Why in heaven’s name do people in this hobby the that we all “hear” the same???!!!
What I have found is that I don’t have to agree with every reviewer who I follow. What I do have to do is understand their preferences and I also need them to be consistent. That way I can correlate their preferences with my own.
I’ve been exposed to music my entire life. I learned to play 3 instruments (piano was mandatory in my family!) with some level of competency. I’ve listened to music, both amplified and acoustic in more types of venues than I can remember. One thing I can say is that all venues do not sound the same. You can listen a performance by the same musicians in different venues and they’ll sound differently. If a venue is big enough, your experience will be different depending on your location. I would say that’s why I’m more tolerant of headphones with different presentations as long as they’re timbrally accurate.
Getting off of the soapbox now…..

💯!! I know exactly what you are talking about… as a kid I didn’t learn an instrument (wish I did), but… music was a daily requirement for my dad who had music going 24/7… and my step mom was a member of multiple bands, orchestras etc… essentially every weekend it felt like we were going to some form of concert or gig… from rock/blues/jazz/bluegrass/classical etc… and venue definitely mattered! Plus witnessing at an early age how all the different people took in the experience as a unique thing to themselves.
Also, my dad was a huge psychology and sociology buff and would have me read books on the topics and discuss it all the time ha … made me appreciate the individual thinking vs group think and cultural differences early on too. Damn, now I miss my pops… the ol surf bum ha
