After a long drive down to Varkala, Kerala from Alleppey... we were VERY hungry. We stopped in at God's own country kitchen to try some local south Indian dishes. We plan to try as many different foods as possible while down in south India especially in Kerala. Masala Crab, Kurma, Kerala paratha, masala dosa.... all were incredible!

We are Eleise and Lawrence & Nyh - A young family from the south of England. Like many people the pandemic gave us a shake up! While watching hours of Mark Weins in Thailand - We had our “Ah ha” Moment. We decided we wanted to travel.

Actually the white chutney served with dosa is either made with cocunut or peanut throughout india . Different restaurant make the white chutney with either one of the two above ingredient , depending on their wish. I guess the one you were eating was made of peanut.

Happy to see you visited kochi and alappuzha. There is one lulu mall at trivandrum too, which is close to varkala and its bigger than other one. If you visit trivandrum, do visit Paragon restaurant. Its pretty famous here, especially their signature dishes...

Indian Coffee house is old branded chain of restaurants started in Munbai 1936 and now available all over India in 400 outlets and it has played a very important role in the politics of India . Every food is neatly prepared and served in hygenically and cheaper.

Lol its not mold. Its coconut chutney made with mustard seeds lol. Any green you might see is a slice of chilli just to spice things up. :D

Interesting, the Masala dosa is usually crisp and has a yellow filling inside.. this one a different style.
In Kerala,
Palappam and Kerala Chicken curry or veg stew (usually mild) or chicken stew (usually mild, for beginners who can't handle any heat)
Kerala Fish Curry (Signature dish) and Rice (spicy, dark red in color)
Fish fry, with a tali (a mixed platter, a whole bunch of veg options)
Thattakada Chicken Fry
Chicken Roast and Parotta
Naadan Kozhi Varuthathu (spicy chicken fry)
Malabar Parotta and Kerala Beef Fry (Signature dish)
Mussel Stir Fry (Kallumakkaya Ularthiyathu), and rice
Chemmeen Pollichathu or fish pollichathu and rice
Prawn Curry and Pathiri (Signature dish)
Puttu and Kadala curry (breakfast item)
Fish Moilee and rice / pathiri

I wish there was a way to subtly tell tourists not to do certain things in India: (a) don't talk about cows on the road (b) don't smell food before eating (at least edit the video before posting). (c) Don't harp on the caste system. Keep an open mind and let that attitude help you enjoy what the country has to offer.
