You have it backwards, Kevin. The Jimny in Japan is the kei-car version with the 660cc motor and all the body cladding and overfenders removed. That way, it fits into the kei-jidousha size and displacement regs. The Jimny Sierra in Japan is equivalent to the variant everyone else around the world drives. On a more recent note, Suzuki just announced a five-door version of this JB74 Jimny.
Can you please compare the top line 2023 non modified BRZ and top non modded 2023 GR86? I subbed to your channel. I know they are like the same cars, but I also heard there are subtle differences in handling. I'm torn because you can order the BRZ but have to go on a waiting list for GR86. Thanks, great channel!
The Sierra is this version, this is how this version is called over at Japan, but as the rest of the world only receives this version, it is only called a Jimny. And the rear seats would of fold flat if you didn't lower the headrests.... lol
America really doesn’t get the Jimmy. It’s not a “cruiser”, It’s an off road adventurer that does OK around town. It is 10 times more fun off road than it is on it. It’s also not “peppy” with the auto taking 15 seconds 0 - 60. Manual is 12 seconds. I think the word you are looking for is “responsive”. I’d also take “nimble” and “willing”. The reason it feels strange to you is because it is a very short wheelbase and a very light vehicle. It changes direction very quickly, sometimes uncommanded. There’s nothing wrong with the “quality of the shocks”. The body roll is caused by the softness of the springs, set up that way for off-road ability. The actual shocks are quite hard, which makes driving on poor bitumen roads uncomfortable. Again, that’s for low speed off road ability. It’s not designed for ripping around corners unless you want to terrify your passengers. The side intrusion is not as bad as you’d expect due to the side airbags and the full ladder frame chassis, however the vehicle only has a 3 star ANCAP rating, mostly for the side impact problems. I wouldn’t like to put one sideways into a tree at speed.
Love the jimny! Wish it would meet US specs and sold here!

Good thing it’s sold in my home country. I’d love to get one when I go home. ☺️☺️
So are these cars allowed to be imported to US Im trying to buy one from Mexico as well
The Kei-Car version in Japan is called Jimny, which comes with a 660-turbo engine. The one you have there is called the Jimny Sierra in Japan.
Seen these in Hong Kong. Comes in Desert tan and Jungle Green in Hong Kong. I want one.
TIL!

Do these have a neutral position in transfer case so they could be flat towed behind an rv?

I don't even like Ford, but this is clearly a Bronco clone.
Its history goes back to 1970.
