Magoulas, you did a damn good job. I can only agree with my colleagues here: Why didn't MG include this as an extra and optional on their list. The trunk is overall the biggest drawback on this vehicle, far too heavy but there is room for your solution. Thank you for your time to document it, stay tuned and hope there are some more ideas that no one expects so quickly!
@@UDAYSHANKARSETHURAMAN i dont have any problem to open trunk manually in mg MG4. for me biggest drawback was rear parking camera which can be retrofitted too ...
Awesome job! Looks very complicated for a novice like me. Hey, can you provide a link to where this kit can be purchased from. I am in Australia and have the same MG4 (only Right Hand Drive)
Awesome video... very helpful... I'll be fitting other accessories (not the elec tailgate) and this shows me how to dismantle the panels and and run the wiring. Thanks... you've got my subscription!! Did you fit a tow bar? I'd love to see a video on that... I want to fit a tow bar to my MG4.
Hi!!Thank you!! What are you planing to install?? I have a tow bar at my garage and i didn’t had the time to install it yet. I was actually about to make a video for it.
Thanks for the nice video. I bought the same kit and have two questions ; 1. A idea of installing time on a mg4 but without install the foot sensor ? 2. On the cable that goes to the two way connection for the lock, there is a short yellow cable you know where I must connect them on ( I don't see on your video ) ?
Hi , Thank you. I would recommend to do this in the weekend with no stress and some coffee. It is possible working slow 4 hours a day. The yellow cable I didn’t connect it nowhere.
Hi, I don't understand from the video why the power cable is stretched all the way to the battery? Should it be enough to plug it into the fuse box in the cabin? I assume that there is a permanent 12V power supply under the dashboard as well.
Hi! Thank you. No I do not know how to do this but I am sure I saw somewhere that it is possible! Somebody I think can program it with a simple device.
Hi Magoulas, hello from Malaysia. Fantastic video. I love it. I have watched it so many times I am now confident I could DIY the installation of the electric tailgate. One thing though, the installation of the kick sensor - removing the rear bumper looks daunting. Would it still work if the sensor is placed inside the rear end of the boot?
Thank you! I have never tried this so I can not answer this question. But the bumper is easy to take off.Do not be afraid to take it apart. The cars are made from pieces 🙂.
@@magoulasfabrications7766 I suppose you are right. I just have to stop thinking of the number of screws and bolts I have to undo and just get on with it. Cheers, mate!
You're back!! This IS what I wish the MG4 had stock.. I doubt I can even start to work on that mod though... but given your mods I'm sure you're good to go. Btw where did your sub woofer go ? I could not see it when you opened up the trunk, I can only see your amp now Where is the link to the kit also please? Oh and bless your gf/wife for sticking through all this time to record this footage Edit: Nevermind not the gf this time haha XD Question: Would any of these steps change if it was a left hand drive (UK) MG4 ? And is there any alternative to drilling and using the rivets? I do not have this rivet where I live :(
Hi !!!! The subwoofer is out because I sold the box to a very nice guy!I also built his sound system! Now I will upgrade mine little bit more. My girlfriend is a hero! I do not think is there anything different in the right hand drive just make sure if the fusebox is still at the left side! If you do not have rivets you can just make o hole with a screw and a nut. Just make sure you put some paint and silicone so is not rusting 🙂.
Hallo. If the problems you get are related to the things you have installed I do not think that the warranty will cover them. Now let’s say for example that your window mechanism brakes. If they do not cover this because you upgrade your sound system or because you have electric tailgate I think that this is little bit weird!

I installed this yesterday but keep getting blown fuses. The tailgate goes down after replacing fuse but seems to blow when it tries to go up again. I would discourage people from installing this kit. It is a huge job even without kick sensor, and the kit comes without any instructions. The Chinese supplier doesn't reply to questions.
@@PhilAHealey Hi . It is indeed a very big job and the kit has no instructions. That is the reason I made the video. Are you sure you connected everything the right way? Which fuse is keep getting blown? And if you have done everything right at least there is warranty inside the box. Do not get disappointed yet.Go over your cables one more time.Maybe something is touching somewhere it shouldn’t and that is the reason you burn fuses. I use it every day since the video was uploaded and I did not had any blown fuses.
Thanks, I was so frustrated after spending all day installing it and then have it not work. I will check everything tomorrow. Maybe one of my wire joints is bad. 😊
it is supposed to be a plug and play tailgate kit and you've made it more complicated than it should be. have you read the fitting instructions supplied by the manufacturer? firstly, don't drill any holes through metal, it is not needed! factory warranty is gone if you do that!... secondly don't need to cut any wires... thirdly, never tap to the fuse box like the way you did and why did you run the power cord to the battery? This is not the way recommended by the manufacturer. too much prep work and you are like dismantling the new car and you don't have to remove the bumper to fit the kick sensor. And by the way this is one of the cheap low quality tailgate kits and kick sensor on the market, there are better options, at least with no drilling thru metal. And you don't test the anti pinch system like that.. It's not a Tesla. Honda CR-V has sensor strips along the edges. To test this kit, you can stand under the tailgate when closing, it hits your head or shoulder, and it will stop and retract.
