Recently bought a G410 that I'm more than happy with. I must apologise James I'm watching this in the bath! You released it while I was already in the bath, it's the only peace I get away from my daughters!!
Every club review seems to conclude the sound and look are really the biggest difference. They all have equivalent COR for center hits (thanks USGA/R&A). Some are a bit better for off center strikes, but most drivers introduced in the last 5 years do pretty well. Nothing beats trying the club out. That said, I enjoy your reviews.
Good review again. Like all these "new" drivers, there's no real change from the previous 1 or 2 incarnations. I changed from a 7-8 year old Ping to a Cobra F9 and can see a proper change 🤗💪
Based on this review, I just bought a M6 and tomorrow it will get fixed with the specs given by my fitter who suggested the sim max. Saved 150€: thanks!
@@JamesRobinsonGolf yes, I have played with a SLDR C driver and a tight lies 3 wood from 2002 for years. Your video was the last straw. ). My friends literally laugh at me on the T box.
Great job James. As you said, Taylormade isn't going specifically after the people who have M5/M6 anyway, so the real question is how does the SIM compare to the previous generation (M2/M4) to see if we should upgrade from a driver that was released 2-4 years prior.
Driver tech has pretty much stalled in recent years (or been restricted by the regulations). Do you need the newest driver? Probably not if you are gaming a reasonably recent model. Do you want the newest driver? That's up to you and if you can afford it. Many people are like me, I guess - golf is my hobby, and I am fortune enough to change when I want to, rather than when I need to. There are other places to find gains rather than driver, perhaps the most effective, though the least popular or sexy, is lessons, or time in the gym. Thanks James.
Thanks to your video (and a few others) I just ordered an M6 from Dick's. Got a demo for $249...roughly half of what a new SIM would cost me. Thanks so much for your video. Keep up the good work.
I bought a m6 at the end of last year not thinking that the new sim drivers were going to come out a few weeks later. I really liked the m6 but decided to exchange it for the sim max because I liked the color better and I was able to save some money bc the sim max is slightly cheaper. Win win for me
I agree that you mayn't notice much between M6 and Sim Max..I noticed that when I had M1 and did not see much change to M3 or M4..but did see big ball speed increase with change to M6... if you are going from M1 M3 or prior..dfinitely get fit for Sim max..take all the ball and club head speed you can get..
I was just fit for the SIM Max driver with the HZRDUS Smoke shaft. I was able to achieve a higher flight with low spin. It’s a real bomber, but I believe the SIM loads the shaft a little different than the previous model. At least for me it did. Like always, just get fit for it.
The Entire SIM Series is Lower Launch and Lower Spinning than last years line. When you see Pro raising loft you should take notice & do the same......Don't focus on the 1 good hit you had with a 8 degree head......James is the only human on earth getting MORE spin from the SIM Series.
I’ve actually gone from a M6 10.5 head to a 9 and gained 5-7 yards and would’ve followed Rory’s lead if I had know it would have given me that square look. Might consider that when the M8 comes out as I’m not upgrading on this cycle.
Great head to head and I have been looking forward to this one and I would love to see the SIM vs M5 I am hoping to try the new SIM drivers just not sure the wife will allow me to purchase 😢😢
Good review. If it stays in the fairway............. it stays in the bag. Just sayin. But, I am on the hunt for a new driver. One that I am not afraid to pull out of the bag. You get it.
We all know drivers were maxed out 2/3 yrs ago now it's all down to looks and forgiveness now. I've upgraded to cobra sz from f9 got no more distance but did feel more forgivness on off centre strikes and new sz looks so much cleaner on top. For me it's all about hitting fairways sod the distance
Just got a "new" Cobra F9 and saved $100 US instead of paying full price for a Speed Zone. Using a $100 gift card from Amazon, I got it for $250. Watched the club tests on both from different testers, next to nothing on difference. Save the extra cash and get a good putter.
Saw similar results when I compared the M4 to M6. Decided to keep my M4 and use the money to pay my teaching pro. Sounds again like more money for my teaching pro in 2020
Just bought sim max replacing ping g410 as it offered me significant gains, 20 yards on average according to track man so it was a no brainer, plus didn't cost me much getting most of the money back from exchanging the ping. Now awaiting the arrival of the sim I'm nailing the ping lol always the way
honestly i dont think companies should come out with new products every year. they should have a circle of 2 years like ping and titleist . itd also be better for the environment and that way they could be more credible with new technology
James great stuff mate love looking at your new content everyday. As mentioned here before when can you do the test between the M1 , M3 , M5 and the new SIM ? Want to see the yardage gains or if any ?
For a golfer on a budget, the M6 on Amazon is $150.00 less than the SIM Max, so I would have to think about price especially since the numbers are very close.
I’d love too think players choose whether they stick with a driver or upgrade to the latest one. However I don’t think that would be the case due to the amount of people who buy clubs just because their favourite player uses it. The price doesn’t justify an upgrade for me.
@@alphazsz If I were to see little difference from the driver I currently play I wouldn't spend the money. If I currently gamed a M6 there is no way I would upgrade.
Bryan Blaszczyk you get to a point where golf clubs replacements are not because it makes 30% better or 15% more distance... just what feels or looks better in your bag... even the damn bag gets changed once in a while. Not because the bag gives me 5 more yards lol new golf clubs are like stickers on a ricer just for looks
I recently switched a cobra f7 for a sim max and added 30 yards 😳 and the feel and sound is amazing. Tried cobra sz xrtreme titleist ts2 and tsi2 ping g410 and callaway mavrik nothing got within an asses roar of the sim max
Hi James, interesting that you mentioned people gaming the M1 or M3 might see improvements moving to the sim. I take it the M2 2016 is safe for a while then??? Maybe do a comparison vid with them.
James i game an Rbz driver which i have used for 8 years. If i move to a new driver would i see a big difference because of the technology. Currently get 225yds total in winter and 240 yds in summer.
Any chance of trying the SIM against the Callaway Rouge? I know the Rogue is older but with the current price difference, I’d like to see if the extra price is worth it and if it gives you extra distance/lower spin/increased club head speed.
I got the Taylor made m6 woods ( 5 WOOD 4Hybrid and Driver) for Christmas and I am hitting tham 15 meters further. And have a smash factor of 1.5 with the driver So I am not going to change maybe in 3 years🏌️♂️
Please test it versus the first gen M1 I’d love to see that! I still game the first gen M1 and nothing has really beat it yet, and I like saving my money haha!
As a graphic artist, (trained in marketing and design) what prevents me from buying a SIM, apart from the color ( Blue relaxes and Red excites), is the NAME. I do love these reviews, as I'm a golf nut but.... what is shown(again) is the importance of getting fit. James has essentially grabbed two clubs off the rack, with different shafts and heads, and had a wack to see what happens. Great fun but not what you, he, or I, should do in a fitting (and he has access to all the gear!! Rahhh) . Try lofts, face angles, lie angles and shafts to dial in and then you have a comparison. Without those these are not optimised and James, or us who bother watching, can't really compare. etc etc etc
Hey James, can you please review the Callaway Super Hybrid. I havent found a video in youtube yet. I just want to know if it's worth the 320$ USD I spent. Compared to other hybrids.

Worthwhile review James for those in the market for a new TaylorMade but I’ll be sticking with my M6.
James I would like to see that SIM Max against the 2017 M2, which for me was a brilliant driver until I moved to the ST190
Staying with M6. Don’t believe there is a magic wand. Great video love you content.
Good plan....for me they are essentially the same club. SIM, and even SIM2 basically look like the M6 with a different outfit on.
Very informative. Newest TM driver I have is the Original M1 (2016), but it's in the closet, not in the bag.
