    Thanks for this video Kelly. Very good. Please don’t ever stop what you’re doing as not only myself but I’m sure the entire weaving community finds them extremely valuable.

    Thank you! This is so good explanained. It makes it much easier to choose a yarn.
    For me it is so difficult to find the correct yarn. If I use a 14 wpi yarn on a 10" heddle it would make it more firm right? 🤔

      @KellyCasanova  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's right, 14wpi is more suited to a 7.5 or 8 dent heddle for a balanced plain weave, so using it in a 10 dent heddle would make a firm fabric.

    Great video. I warped my yarn with a #10 heddle but I want to use a #8. How would you unthread and retread?

    • @KellyCasanova
      @KellyCasanova  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not difficult to do this Diana, just take your time and be careful.
      If your threads are already untied from the apron rod, gently remove them in sections from behind the heddle and let them hang in position over the back beam. If you do this gently, you can preserve the order of the threads.
      Then you can just place your new heddle on and begin threading again. You will need to recalculate your new width for the different sized heddle and mark out the width on the heddle so you can start threading from one side.
      I hope this all makes sense?

    7,5 but what does 30/10 means? I don't know inches only metric.

    • @KellyCasanova
      @KellyCasanova  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It means that over 10cm you will fit 30 threads 😊

    A little confused on counting slots and holes..in the 7.5 you count the slot as 1/2 but in the 10 heddle you count the slot as a whole number (10)🤔It seems like a contradiction...thanks for any help!

    • @KellyCasanova
      @KellyCasanova  ปีที่แล้ว

      So, the number just means the amount of spaces in an inch. For example, for a 7.5 dent heddle, over the entire width of the heddle, the spaces (holes and slots) work out to 7 and a half for every inch because of the way the heddle is made.
      With the 10 dent, it's the same, there are 10 spaces in every inch but it's an even number instead of odd.

      @@KellyCasanova Yes I understand what you mean, I re-watched again and realized the last dent went PAST the 1" mark causing the numbering to be the "1/2" I referred to. The first time I watched it I thought it fell inside the 1"mark so it didn't make sense to count it as 1/2....sorry but thanks for clarifying..my bad!

      Most rigid heddle looms come with either a 7.5 or 8 dent reed. After that, it depends whether you like weaving with thick or thin yarns. I like to use my 10 and 12.5 dent reeds most, but I like to weave with thinner yarns.
