This was great. I knew what to do to fix this particular issue. Perhaps expanding when a pattern exists in the weaving....even something like waffle stitch. Maybe discussion of how to analyze the pattern to fix a float?
Tension issues with warp...I had lots of issues when I started. I love the s hook fix, but my warp tension issues were on a grander scale! I had a tough time rolling the warp on, and as i got into the weaving, perhaps 10" in, i would have an issue with a section of warp, not just one thread. For one project i stuffed fiber stuffing into the front beam in the loose section, increasing the diameter there in order to get the section back under tension. Not pretty. It worked, but i haven't seen anyone address it. Maybe I am the only one to experience it.
I have improved my winding on, as I thought that was the root cause of my issue. I also feel folks do not understand how foundational it is to a good weaving experience and result.

You asked for video suggestions... 1. I love these how to fix your mistake videos. So maybe fixing my float on a complicated weave using your bent needle. 2. More on the planning phase. Where do you look for patterns and how to create a pattern that you saw on a garment you saw somewhere. How to warp the loom using my home made pattern and how to plan the heddle sequence. 3. How to read a pattern so I know beforehand if the pattern has mistakes.
These maybe impossible requests, but these are things I wonder about. For instance, raising heddle 1&3, then 2&4, then 1&4 makes a pattern, then a different sequence makes a different pattern... is it just trial and error or can you predict the pattern? 💖🌞🌵😷

thank you Kelly, for an in depth tutorial...my float is in the warp thread, and unfortunately I have already wet finished the piece...but I think I can use the same technique shown for the weft on the warp thread, and then I will spray that area to wet finish it. Thanks again for helping me make my finished piece look as it should!

Seeing them and learning how to recognize them along with how to fix them is very valuable.

I really needed this. I had a lot of floats on my first project but I always ended up removing the completed rows to return to the mistake. Now, I try to really look hard after each row to catch anything before I get to far in the piece. This video will save me time but I still will remain steadfast in checking. I have two looms, the Ashford never seems to present the problem the Schacht loom does. The down shed sometimes doesn't always make the yarn appear in the proper shed position. I know it has to be something with the tension.
As a suggestion for a video, it would be nice to see you show us how to "properly" roll the weft onto the loom with tips on keeping the paper straight and the weft tension correct. This would also show what is the best technique in advancing the warp using cardboard rolls, cardboard strips etc to protect the warp as it advances on the front beam. I am forever worried I didn't catch all my knots to protect the fabric, etc. Thank you so much for your wonderful demonstrations! Visual is so very helpful.

    • @KellyCasanova

The idea of cutting the original thread is that you don't get doubled up threads in the area you were trying to fix. But if you're happy with the way it looks, don't worry about cutting anything 😊

Concerning your request: I would like to see a complete video from start to finish including warp, etc, of a pattern at least one heddle and two heddle rods, to completion. I know you have lots of videos that show these sorts of pieces and parts, and as great as they are they all seem to leave me with missing information. I think before I placed an order for an excellent service that I know your school provides, I would like to see something that shows how it operates and how complete a lesson would actually be by perhaps doing a complete one here. I prefer the Ridged heddle loom for that, not a floor loom. Thanks

Thanks for your feedback. Regarding start to finish classes, I have kind of done that here. For example, the Wash Your Hands Towels is a complete start to finish project, including printable PDF's all for free. The Tote Bag series is the same. The Van Gogh tapestry series is filmed mostly in real time. Umm, what else... The Spring table runner, the Honeybee Cushion weave along series. These are all for rigid heddle loom, all come with all the info you need and are all completely free.
