The Sub-Zero guy in the back during that interview... wow. Everyone in that studio were lucky he didn't have the courage to pull that gun he was clearly hiding behind his back. XD
I remember renting this as a kid and was so pumped to see this. Never have I tried to run away from a decision and VHS rental faster than this. I think I returned this back to the store as soon as I watched it. Some memories of money and time you wasted stay with you forever.

Proud to say I sat front row at the Mortal Kombat live show. Most of the live show was pre-taped audio that the martial artists would sort of mouth and then do the choreographed fights as I recall. I loved MK so much I even had this movie featured in the video. Good stuff !
I love the Rental Reviews series so much. Everything from the opening to the framing of the scenes is nostalgic, and everyone on every episode is a lot of fun and very knowledgeable, it really conjures up the "movie buff working in a crappy rental store in a strip mall on a creepy side street" feeling, the type of place you'd go just to browse and chat movies after school but you'd never suggest to your friends cuz of the part of town it's in.
Holy crap, I remember Windows 3D Movie Maker! My friend and I used to make movies on that all the time! When we finally got a microphone to add our own voices, shit got real! It was around the same time I got Warcraft 2 expansion set! I love the building my own levels and changing the voices of all the characters Orcs and humans! Ah, good times...
I watched the absolute fuck out of this when I was a kid and ALWAYS loved that dude standing there with the pose and that Johnny Cage shuffle back walk. Man good times. Thanks for making me feel unnecessarily nostalgic today
Reboot was awesome. I watched the hell outta that as a kid. I still holdout that they may finish the show some day. That's gotta be the worst cliffhanger ending I've seen to this day.

But I will tell you Code Lyoko stopped broadcast originally at episode 90, the last seven episodes being released online, so if you do watch it, that will let you know where the cliff hanging was
My favorite part of the movie was the character bios at the very end! It's like they started out as a copypasta from what was in the MK1 instruction manual, but enough there on the VHS to make them unique!
My Stepdad rented this for me back in 1995 at a Hollywood Video when I lived in Jeffersonville, IN on a Saturday Night... I remember watching this alone in the Living Room with both my Stepdad and Mom passed out in 2 different rooms...
16:20 not only the 3d scenes were ok for the time, but they are the only things adding backstory to the characters, making this somewhat worth if you wanna see what the creators came up with for these characters. The 2D scenes are just a retelling of the characters going to the island, something we've seen a lot of times.
The movie is not worse than Mortal Kombat annihilation and I actually enjoyed that movie as a kid... Watching it now will bring back hilarious memories Edit: I really enjoyed that Kung Lao vs Goro fight as well

I bought an SNES code book in the '90s and the only codes on it and that I know about for MK3 were 5 codes to put in on the menu: Kool Stuff, Kooler Stuff, Scott's Stuff, Sound Test, and an extra credit code.
I had were the codes to unlock characters. It was to the point that back then I could do the codes without even thinking about them. They were automatically remembered through my fingers.
Considering 3d animation was still a very new concept this was somewhat impressive back in 94 or whenever this released. Also as a kid we didn't know any better.
