Is it mandatory to learn c++ as i have seen many firms with requirements having python and r or matlab i am confused in quantitative trader and trading strategist
can you please make a different roadmap for job doing indivuals like me who do front-end Developer, who have done DSA but not CP and regularly solves POTD on LC/GFG, a 1 year roadmap meanwhile doing job in working hours.

You mentioned about implementing FIX protocol. Does that mean I should implement all the functionalities of the Session and Application Layer. I find that to be tedious( I believe that there are many Proprietary and Open Source Engines for that purpose). What exactly should I implement in the FIX protocol, for the project to be of manageable difficulty? Are there any alternative projects that I could try related to Quant?
Implement order entry so that you get an understanding of order lifecycle in the exchange

From your video it can be said that knowledge of Higher Mathematics along with Computer science will be most suitable for HFT firms.

You can do a Bachelor of Science, double major in Computer Science and Math or major in one and minor in another.

Here's a question which was asked sometime back in Tower Online assessment. If you are able to arrive at the most optimised solution and code it then I guess Leetcode is enough. Or else its not.

For first-year mathematics, you have mentioned probability, and statistics, and those are all concepts from 11 and 12 jee advanced or basic levels??

There's only one way to become good at Maths and that is by a lot of practice. There is no other way. Maybe talk to your teachers or some one in your school who is good at it and try to understand how they approach the problems and what is their thinking process.

Hey man, i am in my final semester (studying CSE at a NIT) and doing a 6 month internship (in a well known company but cant name it). I have watched couple of your videos and I followed your advice I have recently started reading effective modern c++ book by scot meyers and I am also revising my Core cs concepts which were taught to us. My question is though I am an expert on codeforces, I have not practiced on codeforces for a while ( like since last 4 -5 months) and recently I started doing it again because I was thinking to apply in quant firms , though i having issues with solving question D in div 2 contests, and since I am also busy with my internship and final year project its getting quite difficult for me to practice and give contests regularly so should I just focus on LC (and will it be enough ) or should I continue with codeforces?

@@CodingInterviewPrep Thanks for replying i just tried the following question with a timer. I was able to reach and code the O(N*M*K1*K2) solution in about 13 minutes but then I again took extra 5 minutes to come up with a better solution but I was not able to think of the O(N*M*(k1+k2)) one , I guess I will just practice more on codeforces now.
I just wanted to ask two more things:-
1) Should I study more advanced algorithms for quant sde like convex hull, sweep like , fenwick tree and stuff or the basic algos that we learn are enough.
2) When it comes to DBMS what kind of questions do quant firms ask ?
You have still not reached at the most optimised solution. I'ce solved it in O(N * M).
Leave convex hull. Study the rest. DBMS taught in college is enough. Should be able to write sql queries. It is not a very commonly asked topic

I am doing Metallurgical Engg (CURRENTLY 1st sem) at IITB. What are the chances that I will qualify criterions for these quant companies. I have heard these like TRC,Quadeye ppl only take EE and CSE guys. Thanks for ur help.
I can't really say but they keep the bar very high at IIT Bombay. 2 guys who joined Tower in 2021 from IITB were both CS folks. One of them is AIR 12 of JEE Advanced. They are close friends of mine. Job market is becoming tough day by day.

What if I learn RUST programming language for hft job,is there any chance that they can hire me. I am saying this because RUST programming language is the only language is similar to C++, and is also very secure and low latency language.
So is there any chance that hft or hegde funds can hire me?
Rust is considered slow for low latency programming.

I don't think so, your resume should be strong enough to beat those undergrad student.
No not really these quant companies ask a hell lot of achievements to freshers
For example they would search your resume to see if you cleared any international olympiad or are you an NTSE scholar. They also ask your JEE ADV rank as far as I know and then take very difficult mathematics tests to actually test your potency .

Last yr they even don't mange to arrange admit card for all students.

Is it a bad choice to use java instead of c++? How would that affect the career path?
It's not a bad choice to use Java or any other programming language. Java is a great programming language and there are ample job opportunities available for Java Developers. Many big tech companies use Java at a very large scale. But if you are targeting a job in high frequency trading firm then you should focus on C++ because it is the most commonly used language in HFT domain due to latency purposes. C/C++ has other advantages as well which makes it the most preferred programming language in HFTs.
There is very high demand of Java developers as well in the market for other business domains. So don't worry if you are a Java coder.

@@jeanishverma6898 honest answer, if you are from iit b/d/k/m, you should, quant firms open and have this year taken a guy from iit madras with a 1 cr domestic ctc, how do i know, i am from iit madras, if you're not from these four colleges, do cp and make your cs core concepts strong, work in other firms and get years of experience, maybe then.
