You changed my life over the last couple years... after years of working dead end jobs that I hated I finally said screw it and bought a saw and some gear and jumped head first into the firewood business. The beginning was slow and rough but I've stayed at it and things are starting to change now rapidly, wood going out wood going in and it's all honest hard work that I love and am damn proud of. Watching you encouraged me and I can't say thank you enough, Let er buck buddie!!!

A little half ton Ford with a 6ft box, a Stihl 036 pro some axes & mauls and wedges and mostly the basics. I went out and scavenged wood anyway that I could and was always the first to respond, where I live a lot of people just give there wood away on marketplace once a tree is dropped so if you got a saw a truck and some initiative to get the wood things go pretty quickly but to be honest took me about 10 months to year to see any real return starting out since most of the wood I got was green when I got it and had to wait for it to season before I could sell it for a reasonable profit... In-between all that anytime I could find dry wood I would get it process it and put it up for sale right away to keep me going in between waiting for things to season. I'll be honest it hard in the beginning because in my case i had a supportive family that helped me out when things were slow and in the beginning things are very slow profit wise.
My advice would be to start as a side hustle while you work a part time job and build up your stock all year so when winter time comes and people are looking you have plenty and don't get bought out. Once you build up some cash immediately invest in better equipment to help you be more efficient and make more money. Wish you the best friend!

I have the stihl 194t and its a little ripper. I use 3/8 semi chisel on it but im not game enough to drop the rakers too low on this saw. On my Husky 585 i dont mind a hungry chain though. I use full chisel on that saw. Enjoy your day.

But it always cracks me up when you say stuff like "I been doing it this way for 30 years and I didn't know it was wrong til youtube told me so" 😂 I'm a motorcycle rider, And I had a guy at a gas station tell me one time that I got on the bike wrong. The thin branched single stem firs you see a lot of out west are ideal territory for electric climbing saws. Much easier than having to restart the saw every four or five steps up the tree. I haven't gone electric yet because here in the southeast usa we have so many thick branched oaks and multi stem removals. Thanks for your vids!!
I've been electric for years, even before these great new battery saws are everywhere. Dragging an electric cord up the trees was getting tedious so i finally made the purchase to a small Stihl battery saw. Most stuff i do is pruning. But the hand saw will always be my favorite until my shoulders and arms give out. 🤓

I just turned 78 years old and I’ve learned so much about dropping trees and filling my chain from you. I’ve been cutting firewood for extra money back in the early 80’s. I have a Husqvarna 61 that I bought in 1991. I think I have probably cut 300+ cords of wood with it. I bought a Husqvarna 565 Professional with a 28” bar a couple of years ago and I love it. I run a 24” on my 61. Do you think I could run the 28” bar on it and a 30” on the 565? Love your videos and your work ethic! Thanks from north Idaho.
You can do it, BUT be SURE to retune it for that longer bar. Remember, you can pull a 40’ OTR trailer with a 4cyl Briggs motor, just don’t think that it’s going to last long!

Just did a climbing job a day ago , I used the new DeWalt xr 20 v 12 bar in the tree. I filed the rakers a little seems like a small saw clutch can't handle it , for the saw for climbing it worked well. It was cutting 12 inch branches . But I do wish I left the chain alone.

I learned this stuff in Angel Job Corps in Yachats Or in 1996-1997. In forestry class with a guy named Rod Smith I think it was. I didn't stick with though and got a job in a warehouse instead. I wish I had done more though. Tree climbers/ Faller make a lot of money. It's nice to watch, though😊👍

Long time supporter of your channel I just have noticed that you were at the Paul Bunyan show in Cambridge Ohio ,I pick one heck of a year to mss the event I would have loved to meet you in person. Bucken if you’re ever at the show again would love to have you stay at my lake home at Senecaville it’s 15 minute drive away from the show. If you’re interested I will send pictures of my home plenty of rooms 6000 sq ft cedar log home.
It looks like you are so close to cutting your line.. Are you not as close to it as it looks are you just comfortable cutting that close? We have been cutting trees for wood at our remote cabin since i was a kid but it is always my father (now late 70s) falling them and me and siblings/friends loading them in the sleighs and pulling them back to the cabin by snowmobile. I saw some of you videos and went down the rabbit hole. I bought a non working poulan 42cc 18inch and took a few days to figure out all the issues.. then saw 3 18-20 inch saws for 90$ and grabbed them and cleaned the carbs, adjustef the jets and replaced the diaphragms in one but got them working and tuned to 4 stroke when not under load. .. . Now i have 4 saws without really needing any as there are several at the cabin but these are mine, not someone elses :D I LOVED your chain sharpening videos so i went out and bought a file set at princess auto sale and tried it out.. so much fun and its relaxing.. Best of all it got me out of my office chair and out into the garage working on and fixing saws..I'm working on a neighbours late 80s/early 90s poulan and got it running. I will be out at the cabin this weekend to cut it over to winter mode and to try out a couple of the saws i got.. Probally 50cc poulan and a troybilt that is 2 years old.. I know they aren't a good quality saws but tinkering is half the fun and they were only 30$ each. I will pick up a husky or a sthil or echo if a non working one comes up to play with. Thanks again for all the videos and going into detail about what you are doing, why you are doing and what happens if you dont. I had not idea a hinge was required :D
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith Indeed i did.. I was in the forest cutting up some dead fall so the kids could haul it to the bonfire pile so we can burn it in Mid February. And well because i wanted to really try out the saws. With you sharpening videos these saws made me really lol at how fast it was going through the wood until i hit the dirt. After a few minutes of sharpening it was back at it :) My friend group and Family is now watching your videos lol.
Did you or are you working on a muffler mod on the 2511t I like the lp non safety full house 14 inch on that saw but it needs to be Hopperized yet. You can barely feel that saw climbing around love it. On palms its great for now but on sprawling hardwoods like Live Oak and the invasive Australian pines it needs more. Or should i say i want more. I haven't been in a Hemlock in almost 20 years now since I came to Florida.
Do you ever get nervous limbing so close to your prussic? As someone who doesn’t love heights, it gives me heart palpitations cutting so close to the only keeping ya in the tree and alive.😅 Always love the sawing content and you’ve got me intrigued with that little Echo 2511.
That may be true - I had to replace the high circuit plug in my Echo cs-590 with a plug without a hole. The hole allows fuel through, so, no matter what, you can't lean it out too much. I'm an electric guy, but i would prefer a ported Lil saw like Buckin has up in that tree. However the corded electric saws that I've used were better than the battery saws because the batteries themselves are heavy. Climbing small trees for fun and exercise is good, with no gear. I always have a hand pruner for suckers and twigs.
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith Ended up getting one. Not really impressed. I will keep it as it does get into spots my other saws don’t. I have a stihl 462 , and 250, couple of corded electric 16 inch chains, Poulin wild thing which is atrocious, and a couple of corded circular saws that I use for firewood. For 65 $ on Amazon it’s not bad. Two chains, two batteries, accessories…. 36 volts, it cuts softwood pallets reasonably well, but my circular saws are quicker. Few years ago I did a research project looking at chainsaws. Battery vs corded vs gas. Results were, battery were probably okay for home short term use. Corded were limited in power by the 15 amp circuit, but probably good for home use. Gas would be good for better power and remote use. Will try to download video of the first cuts with this new battery electric. For domestic home use, battery or corded electric are probably better for the environment, although there will be a time penalty as they are slower, less powerful… Keep up the good work! Donald

You can do it, BUT be SURE to retune it for that longer bar.
Remember, you can pull a 40’ OTR trailer with a 4cyl Briggs motor, just don’t think that it’s going to last long!

Just did a climbing job a day ago , I used the new DeWalt xr 20 v 12 bar in the tree. I filed the rakers a little seems like a small saw clutch can't handle it , for the saw for climbing it worked well. It was cutting 12 inch branches . But I do wish I left the chain alone.

I learned this stuff in Angel Job Corps in Yachats Or in 1996-1997. In forestry class with a guy named Rod Smith I think it was. I didn't stick with though and got a job in a warehouse instead. I wish I had done more though. Tree climbers/ Faller make a lot of money. It's nice to watch, though😊👍

It looks like you are so close to cutting your line.. Are you not as close to it as it looks are you just comfortable cutting that close?
We have been cutting trees for wood at our remote cabin since i was a kid but it is always my father (now late 70s) falling them and me and siblings/friends loading them in the sleighs and pulling them back to the cabin by snowmobile.
I saw some of you videos and went down the rabbit hole. I bought a non working poulan 42cc 18inch and took a few days to figure out all the issues.. then saw 3 18-20 inch saws for 90$ and grabbed them and cleaned the carbs, adjustef the jets and replaced the diaphragms in one but got them working and tuned to 4 stroke when not under load. .. . Now i have 4 saws without really needing any as there are several at the cabin but these are mine, not someone elses :D
I LOVED your chain sharpening videos so i went out and bought a file set at princess auto sale and tried it out.. so much fun and its relaxing.. Best of all it got me out of my office chair and out into the garage working on and fixing saws..I'm working on a neighbours late 80s/early 90s poulan and got it running.
I will be out at the cabin this weekend to cut it over to winter mode and to try out a couple of the saws i got.. Probally 50cc poulan and a troybilt that is 2 years old.. I know they aren't a good quality saws but tinkering is half the fun and they were only 30$ each. I will pick up a husky or a sthil or echo if a non working one comes up to play with.

@@BuckinBillyRaySmith Indeed i did.. I was in the forest cutting up some dead fall so the kids could haul it to the bonfire pile so we can burn it in Mid February. And well because i wanted to really try out the saws. With you sharpening videos these saws made me really lol at how fast it was going through the wood until i hit the dirt. After a few minutes of sharpening it was back at it :)

Did you or are you working on a muffler mod on the 2511t I like the lp non safety full house 14 inch on that saw but it needs to be Hopperized yet. You can barely feel that saw climbing around love it. On palms its great for now but on sprawling hardwoods like Live Oak and the invasive Australian pines it needs more. Or should i say i want more. I haven't been in a Hemlock in almost 20 years now since I came to Florida.

Do you ever get nervous limbing so close to your prussic? As someone who doesn’t love heights, it gives me heart palpitations cutting so close to the only keeping ya in the tree and alive.😅 Always love the sawing content and you’ve got me intrigued with that little Echo 2511.

Buckin- I believe the 2511t is a carb saw with normal Hi and Low screws. Tune as usual.
it doest tune as normal, altho it does have a low and hi. my thought is that it has a governed hi jet so you cant lean it out
That may be true - I had to replace the high circuit plug in my Echo cs-590 with a plug without a hole. The hole allows fuel through, so, no matter what, you can't lean it out too much. I'm an electric guy, but i would prefer a ported Lil saw like Buckin has up in that tree. However the corded electric saws that I've used were better than the battery saws because the batteries themselves are heavy.
Climbing small trees for fun and exercise is good, with no gear.
I always have a hand pruner for suckers and twigs.

Ended up getting one. Not really impressed. I will keep it as it does get into spots my other saws don’t. I have a stihl 462 , and 250, couple of corded electric 16 inch chains, Poulin wild thing which is atrocious, and a couple of corded circular saws that I use for firewood. For 65 $ on Amazon it’s not bad. Two chains, two batteries, accessories…. 36 volts, it cuts softwood pallets reasonably well, but my circular saws are quicker.
Few years ago I did a research project looking at chainsaws. Battery vs corded vs gas. Results were, battery were probably okay for home short term
use. Corded were limited in power by the 15 amp circuit, but probably good for home use. Gas would be good for better power and remote use. Will try to download video of the first cuts with this new battery electric.
For domestic home use, battery or corded electric are probably better for the environment, although there will be a time penalty as they are slower, less powerful…

I've been using a 193T for years and recently purchased a new echo 271t. I was just curious about your opinion about the 271t vs the 2511 t? There isn't much online about the 271 but there is a lot about the 2511.
