It is said that after the Romans went and conquered some Greek islands, they returned with some large and powerful dogs that were then bred with native dogs and so creating the breed known today as the Cane Corso.
These dogs were much more territorial, more powerful and with stronger hunting instincts. Cane Corso is considered the most intimidating breed in the world, with a muscular build that reaches a height of 28 inches at the shoulder these dogs can weight up more than 110 pounds. But this is just the tip of the iceberg since the Cane Corso has a massive head and strong jaws that can crush more than 700 psi, one of the strongest in the dog world. Their appearance matches their personality, they have a magnificent aura. The Cane Corso is one of the strongest dogs in the world, so there are very few breeds that can face him.

What I think? I owned a Cane Corso, as well as I've Owned several other breeds. I think you didn't mention the most important aspects that make the big difference of this mastiff vs the other mastiffs. Cane Corso is the most equilibrated and intelligent among the mastiffs, the most important motivation during its training is to please and help the owner. he will never react vs the owner, as he can terribly react if he feels the owner in danger and, in this cicumstance he is really fearless. Another important difference is the fact that Cane corso is not only a guard or defence dog, as he is multitasking dog, while the other mastiffs can be pack defence dogs, guard dog or hunting dogs, Cane Corso can cover all these tasks together with the fact that he is a working dog that can stay in house being also a perfect babysitter. Do you think there are other mastiff that can do all that tasks?

I've had 5 American Akitas over the years, currently have 2. Female at 115 pounds and male at 130 pounds. They're like cats inside, never hear them, very clean, very docile. Love to be with us at all times. However, break into our house, or if we're on a walk try to hurt us or have another dog come after us, forget it. They change and go into protection mode and would fight to the death to protect us and our house. The loyalty of the Akita to it's owners is amazing.
With that said, all these dogs on here are awesome. I'd love to have one of each, but we know that could never happen! So many beautiful breeds out there!

I like the personality of anatolians and even great pyrenees more though. They're very protective, but there's a middle ground they are quickly able to accept when it comes to strangers coming over when my wife and I are home and introduce them. It's a big deal when you have contractors over for 6 months. Even then, if the dog was home and we weren't, even recognizable people (except two of our friends) weren't allowed to set foot in the yard without catching growls and teeth.

I am a dog person and know them all well, been researching them all for years. The Kangal is a Turkish dog bred to protect sheep herds from wolves for the most part. The Bourbel or what some would call the South African Mastiff was bred by Dutch Farmers with the dogs they brought with them to Africa and local dogs that were already there with a BullMastiff thrown into the mix. Caucasian Shepard bred in the Caucasian mountains to fight of predators from the livestock, said to be the most aggressive breed in the world. The Dogs Argentina, Bred in you guessed it, Argentina, bred for hunting wild bore and such, the lineage includes dog fighting. Could go on but, love dogs, would never want to see any of them fight and would love to own them all. :-)

First off, Cane Corso are considerably heavier than stated 110 lbs which could be an average weight for a femal Corso. Males are commonly weighing in at 150 lbs. That is a good point, the Cane Corso is definitely among the more intelligent all these breeds in terms of training. I heard it said once, the difference between a Borbel and a Cane Soros for protection is, the Bourbel once upon hearing something that needs looking after, it will charge after the threat and go after it until it catches it and takes care of the threat. The Cane Corso on the other hand will stand by your side and make sure the threat doesn't get to you. Really, it comes down to what you want in protection dog. Becareful though, weight, size and power of a Bourbel can kill a human easily. You will be held accountable by law in most country's for what your dog does.

Idk if my grandpa had a Caucasian Shepard but @2:41 he looked just like that!! We called him bear because how huge he was. My grandpa had him tied in the corner with thick chains maybe stretching only 25ft of slack. He used to be very aggressive when the gate would open but when he saw us he would cry and want us to play with him. He would let us pet him and even get on his back. When we’d leave he would cry and try to run to us. He ended up dying I think it had a lot to do with being tied up his whole life. I’d say he was between 4-7 years old. He was such a beautiful dog. I have 4 dogs, 2 pitbuls a German Shepard and a American bully all which sleep with me and my family. I treat them as such. Although I wish my area had dog parks where they can go. I had one for a few years, his owner donate me, he wad deaf, and nobody let me know about it.
He has about 10 years old. A very good dog, and everything depend of his owner.
Dogs, any breed, are default because of their owners.
A probem with this breed,Dog Atgentino, a lot of them after 3-4 years old , they are deaf.I dont know the cause is.
I dont know exactly why, but this is the truth.I saw in many country , Dog Argentino abandoned, their owner develope too much agresivity, and after that is a little hard to control them.
Always, people are the cause of a lot of suffering .
Your dog is amaizing, he is so happy, I know that you are a good owner for him.

"It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but rather it is the size of the fight in the dog that counts." None know better than a Pit Dog fighter as to where his dog's fight ends. Those who believe their dog can beat anything, have never put their dog up against a champion Pit Dog in a Dog Fighting Ring. Why do you always see Pitbulls in the pit dog fighting ring? Because, Pit Bosses do not like to lose their money betting on the wrong breed of dog.

First thing first: it's pronounced KAH-NEY KOR-SO (not sugar cane, or wakling cane), I think , when you do videos like that, you should start with proper pronunciation.
Cane Corso- is one of the smartest breeds. Dangerous? Of course, but so is any other dog if not trained, or socialized properly.
Definitely, one of the smartest dogs. Probably in the same ring with Doberman.
Which breeds can take a Corso? Again , depending on training .you can say a lot, but you have to own and train to be able to put your opinion out there.
    Thank you.

@@GTCism Totally agree and it is usually the dog that pays the price. I had a neighbor once who had an American Akita Malamute mix. Him and his wife did not have kids and I said that was a good thing because with that type of dog, typically not good idea introducing kids after. Well a few years later he said that he and his wife were expecting. All I said was the dog was first so you have to teach your child not to pull on the dogs tail or face. Well, the kid is a two year old at this point. They are outside and the kid is pulling on the dogs tail and the dog keeps trying to get away from the kid. No parenting or corrections from parents. Finally after an hour of this, the dog turns and barks to get the kid to stop. I figure the kid goes after the dog relentlessly all the time. Where are the damn parents? Well the parents go berserk. I don't see the dog for a couple of days. I find out they had the dog put down. I was so pissed. We were actually quite close before and would share a beer or two in each others garage. The dog was awesome with me. After that, I never spoke to him again. I told the other neighbors what happened and we basically shunned them. Frickin great dog - so loyal to that couple - Jasper was the name of the dog. Never even hurt the kid but was constantly harrassed and the parents never taught or corrected the child. Still pisses me off and that was ten years ago now. As you say, a crying shame.

I have a 4 months old Cane Corso pup - a female - Pickles.. I also have a full grown Boerbull male, Desmond. Desmond is "quite robust" as dogs go, being a mastiff. Pickles & Desmond play together as dogs do - roughhousing, play fights, gadding about. That sort of stuff. Absolute best pals.
Pickles is not one bit intimidated by Desmond & looks to be considerably more robust of jaw than Desmond, even at only 4 months. She has a certain poise about her that people notice immediately - there's just a "presence" Cane Corso dogs have. They also snore when sleeping - very loudly - and are insanely affectionate if you are on their "Good Lads" List, which I am.
Cane Corso pups have comedy legs right from the off - they look like Giraffes, pretty much - big, long, gangly legs unsuited to their young bodies. They need pretty on-point nutrition in order to grow into those legs - don't underestimate how much a Cane Corso pup will eat - they exist to eat for the first year or two.. Your role as a decent owner will be to shovel enough food into them to meet demands.. they will also want your dinner - they are utter thieves when it comes to food - everything is fair game if it is edible. You'll have to be firm on that front. They will respond by poo-ing on your favorite thing - repeatedly - they aren't dumb - you wanna play tough, they will too.
The flipside is you will never look at a Cane Corso & not feel privileged to be around such an intriguing, interesting, clever & noble animal. They are not, in any way, "The Usual". Well you might if you are a dope who doesn't deserve to be around one - those sorts occur - but in general - Noble Beast. Treat accordingly.

If so a lion has about 2 or 3 times less psi than a hyena, does the lion loose one on one...more variables at play age, maturity, confidence, experience, enviorment etc... IM from Italy and the Corso shouldnt be that big. The AKC ruins dogs breeding them for looks not functionality. The bigger the dog less functional they are. Dogs in Russia are huge in order to withstand the freezing cold not to fight in which in warm weather would over heat and drop dead

The Kangal will fight to the death without hesitation. A word of warning... That Kangal is not a dog for the novice pet owner or the faint of heart. They're willful, hard headed and head strong. Do you think that 2 Cane Corso's are considered a pack? As it was said earlier in a comment, they are great escape artist. The 2 got out their pin and as any pup, they probably felt like free slaves and hadn't been out long. There was a mail man that seen them and panicked . He explains, they showed no aggrashin. As he was swinging his mail bag, back and forth, the 2 just kept coming forward, not grawling or barking. A lady comes out and tells the mail man to climb on top of her suv, an did. Now, at the time of all this, the mail man states. I was screaming and swinging my bag,but they just kept coming forward,so I did what the lady said an got on her SUV and a man came out his house and shot both the pups.

One of the dog that can stand vs a Cane Corso, and vs all others dogs, Kangal included (cause despite his appearance when it have to protect someone it becomes really mad, and a war machine) is another Italian breed. The Pastore Maremmano/Abruzzese (Abruzzi/Maremma Sheperd). One of the most underrated dog regarding fighting. He's still today used to protect farmlands and cattles by boars, bears etc.
