If you needed to build a versatile arsenal and only had the stated amount to build it, without mentioning if you are a reloader or not, I would build it as follows 1: Savage 340B: a 30-30 bolt action with a detachable magazine. It is very affordable in most pawn shops if a little bit finnicky when it comes to firing. You can also use Spitzer Bullets in it like a Savage 99 at a Quarter of the price. Marlin Model 60: again, very affordable at most pawn shops used, very reliable, a good capacity, and you don't need to buy additional magazines Stoeger Coach Gun: very easy to find used, very affordable, decent quality. Lasty, a Columbian Mauser in 30-06. Very affordable when you can find them since most people don't really recognize them, uses the same projectiles as the Savage, and gives you much better range. Alternatively, you can also go with a Maverick 88 since it has a much better capacity than Stoeger at around the same price.
I have had a hard time finding a double barrel coach gun for the $170 price of a Maverick 88.. people want to sell double barrels for around $300ish. I guess i'll have to call a bunch of pawn shops.
@timd729 I managed to score my Stoeger for about 180 at my local gunstore after taxes. Course, someone installed an after-market butt plate and grip cap on it and I had to do some work on the internals to get the safety working. Course, it could also be that tax season this year was brutal so a lot of shops in my area are just desperate to move inventory
I did this challenge over the past 6 months and I did pretty good. Granted, I'm not including shipping, since different vendors charge different rates. The first three you will see I was keeping the pattern of the weapon platforms ability to share like ammo. As for two and one, I got super creative to pull it off. I want to point out my list is built for more outdoors's usefulness versus gearing up for war. I overshot by $17, but least you won't have to worry about buying mags for the M200. 5: Rossi RS22M - paid $115 - Used - (Semi auto rifle in .22 WMR with 10 round mags and 20 round mags) 4: Heritage rough Rider with .22lr and .22 WMR cylinders - Paid $130 - Used - 3: Single tube, single shot, break action 20 Ga shotgun - Paid $52 - New - (You can get adapters for the single tube shotguns to allow them to fire all modern cartridge ammo such as the .22lr & .22WMR) 2: Single tube, single shot, break action 12ga shotgun - Paid $60 - New - 1: RIA M200 - Paid $160 (Great .38 special that also can fire snake shot and you can get the .38 special adapter for the single tube shotguns)
The best all NEW $500 arsenal is ($250 each): Taurus g3c Mossberg Maverick 88 Field & Security Combo Blued 12 Gauge That gives you a solid pistol that you can still conceal & carry but can also work in a duty/nightstand capacity. It also gives you a great shotgun platform with 2 barrel lengths - 18.5inch barrel for home defense & a 26inch barrel for hunting. You can shoot slugs up to 100 yards and use buckshot for most self defense distances.
My taurus is fine. I carry the shield plus, but I've put aroround 500 rounds through my taurus (hand loads and store purchased) without any malfunctions.
@AmericanNationalist852 I still get people asking me what weapons to purchase. Sadly, they are the same people who asked me the same question last year and the years before that......I am no longer responding to any of those people.
I could to a fairly decent loadout for $500, but not an entire arsenal. I picked up a Rock Island .38 revolver for $200, and I also got a new Heritage rough rider for $100, and then maybe a sporter rifle for about $150-200.
Definitely, the sporterized route is the way to go! Years go, I picked up a sporterized a Remington 19033a3 for dirt cheap. Ending up un-sporterizing it; Was it worth it? Most definitely BUT I won’t do it again (it was a ton of work).
If you are willing to snoop around the pawnshop, you can find a maverick 88 or a mossberg 500 for very cheap or even a Remington under the sears brand.
Thumbs up on the single shot shotgun. With pumps and semiautos, it's still my choice for walking the woods while grouse hunting. Light weight and easy to carry all day.
I got empty cases for the carcano for free from some old guy who was selling his collection of stuff. If you buy the carcano, you have to reload. No other option.
I recently found a Sporterized 033A with a Williams peep sight and a cut down 20 inch barrel I paid about 100 beans more for it then I should have But the peep sight makes up for it and I'm able to change out the barrel to 35 Whelen. If I want to. 13:47
Your SMLE looks like the low tier option from the Parker Hale catalog. I wonder how many SMLE's they sold over their run? A lot of people do not realize these were not one offs by bubba. The only thing is, Parker Hale left few clues. The physical characteristics and the front sight leaf sometimes has PH stamped on it.
Pretty nuts eh? Even still, the mag is not guaranteed to work on whatever SMLE without fitting it to the new rifle. Good luck finding a manual on how that was done.
Many years ago I was in Waco , Texas the gun shop had a pickle barrel full of Enfield magazines for 15. Bucks each I have two that I bought I need to find them .
Nice video!!! You have to watch and be ready to buy when the opportunity strikes. I have had several guns given to me because friends knew about my interest in firearms. You never know how the situation will become available to acquire a gun. You must be ready however… thanks for your videos!! The Old Army Scout…

303 ammo is scarce and expensive.
Save an extra $50 and you can find a CZ P10 on sale for around $300 and that’s an infinitely better gun than that taurus
My taurus is fine. I carry the shield plus, but I've put aroround 500 rounds through my taurus (hand loads and store purchased) without any malfunctions.
Nothing like waiting till the very last opportunity to arm yourself.
..with a bunch of deteriorating century old weapons chambered in uncommon calibers

Ammo price, and availability, would go against that Carcano.
Reloading components are plentiful
Milsurp Munitions makes ammo new - but still a little $
I got empty cases for the carcano for free from some old guy who was selling his collection of stuff. If you buy the carcano, you have to reload. No other option.
7.62x39 mm Is an Intermediate cartridge.
True

The magazine on the Enfield is worth 100+ by itself
Pretty nuts eh? Even still, the mag is not guaranteed to work on whatever SMLE without fitting it to the new rifle. Good luck finding a manual on how that was done.

On apex gun parts you can get magazines $30-50 depending if you care about DP marks, Enfield clips are typically $3 each and don't wear down.
@@martkbanjoboy8853I was able to fit my magazines with a Leatherman and 3 minutes of time, it's pretty easy.

Too many rifles, no pistol.
Yes you can get 5 decent guns for 500. But your going to need 1000 if you want to use them. Ammo cost money and is not included.
For anyone looking to purchase a shotgun that's cheap to use the 12 or 20 is the way to go. The rest of those shells are more expensive.
Agreed
I always felt that arsenal implied a lot more firearms than this
I wonder how many it takes to hit an arsenal
Ill run a poll
Not going to happen for 500.
Your $100.00 rifle is now WORTHLESS because unless you have an FFL you can never sell it.
ATF struck down 👎!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@DavidHunter-d1s For now.
Why is a gun considered worthless because of that?
