The thing about words are they mean something different to everyone. I told my husband that even though I am an atheist, if someone I loved was on their deathbed or really struggling and they asked me to pray with them, I would. Not because I think there is a God who is listening, but because I believe it would be mentally beneficial to someone I love. It is not my job to try to change their mind. It is my job to be there for them, love them, listen to them and help when I can.

Your post is more about empathy than it is vocabulary.
Words shouldn't have "different meanings for everyone" or they lose their purpose.
I'll give you an example. Lately, it's not that uncommon for me to hear people refer to a criminal as "a gentleman". What's the difference between a gentleman and a man. Apparently nothing!
You're an atheist I'm an agnostic. That means you don't believe in God, and I want proof before I do! If words lose their meaning, we're lost!

we live in a world of lies....just be mindfull that our time on earth is very short and eternity goes on forever which you will be part of whether you want to be or not. If you want to prove to yourself there is a God then just look at the simple facts. Life on earth according to the non believer , claim that after the big bang happened chemicals got splashed around and mixed together and somehow life was generated and we evolved from this chemical action. They have to claim chemicals due to the fact the big bang gave off so much energy that all traces of life would have been destroyed. Good luck with that theory of mixing chemicals to make people. God bless and guide us all.

@@mehmetsimsek4794Science is a tool to understanding our surounding. You can use it to invent useful stuff like the phone you are using right now OR you could use it to invent nuclear weapons to use in war.
Religion however is a doctrine. It gives instructions to it's followers what to do. And the more popular religions do instruct stuff like killing non-believers or force your belief onto other whatever way you can.
Science and religion are very different in every possible way.

My favorite point of Professor Tyson in this video is that he said he wants to be buried, not cremated. I do not even wish to be buried even in a formal grave. I figure that, when I feel my death is at hand -say, cancer -I will wander out into the desert or mountains nearby and intentionally swallow water into my lungs so as to drown, so to speak. I want to be food for the coyotes and crows and such creatures so that both my matter and energy will be recycled back into nature. I am a big fan of Professor Tyson.

The college I attended to receive two bachelor degrees stressed the need to question the current beliefs. When I entered college, I was what I referred to as a blood and guts Christian, essentially an evangelical. During the process of my education, I was taught to question what I had taken as fact and to view things in the light of evidence. What I am saying is if people are coming out of college and have only been taught out of textbooks those are really bad colleges. To me, the entire purpose of the college education is to teach the student how to question and how to research and how to evaluate the validity of any thought.

Add in the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy, guardian angels, all instilled into children by adults as “innocent” well meaning lies until the children sus out the truth and everyone moves on with no damage done except for quite a few upset and disappointed children. As you say though, God (and Jesus) get by somehow with the adults maintaining the fallacy and never challenging or reasoning about the truth. Then the children become adults and have their own children and so the cycle continues unbroken. Only those with the ability or desire to seek the truth and challenge the whole concept of a Deity in the sky who created everything in the universe but focussed its attention on one tiny planet orbiting a small star out of 300 billion in one galaxy out of 300 billion galaxies in the observable universe.

BUT ! you are looking at god as religious tyrants shove up your ass ---- some where in time before all this there was nothing ---- that nothing was replaced by empty space and then space was replaced by a universe and by cosmological mitosis we end up on a rock trillions of times smaller then that universe ------- now what appears to be a legitmant miracle has been labeled as god -- the physical transformation is god -------------- now people like Peter who had Jesus murdered in order to create a staged process following his death as the religion of all religions and the evil of religion from the Iron Age til now to control the masses for self enrichment and the oppression and suppression of humanity ------ religion is the evil and if you enter in and adhere to the tenets you will find goodness ---------- the alternative is to follow the WORDS OF JESUS - NO TO CHURCHES as god is the church so enter in ---- in other words internalize the miracle and go forth with the goodness you will obtain from the process of the creation labeled as god----yet religion stole from humanity that miracle and reframed it as god sitting in a cosmological Lazy Boy managing the process ---------------- god is a name of a miracle given by humans and that is it -- religion assigned human traits to a process of physical creation and made god in their image to enrich themselves while using evil to control the masses -------------- god is a label of a process to where we are not a human man of magic selling bottles of liquid religion ! god and religion are two distinct divergent concepts one a miracle the other a falsity served up by greedy humans to further the control of empires and emperors !

Music is often touching upon religious themes. The bible stories are widely read and compelling tales. So people have familiar ties to the songs and music. Angels and the Devil are easily recognized figures. Classical music was often commissioned by the church, who control massive wealth in those days, so the artists were bound to write music for the church, because they liked to eat and be comfortable.

In a college philosophy course (at my engineering school), there was one argument for believing in God. Ourr professor made a 2x2 diagram with one side as believe/don't believe and the other as God exists/doesn't exist. So, if you don't believe and there's no God, you're good. Believe and God doesn't exist, you break even as maybe you spend time in church but no end benefit. Now you believe and God does exist you're all set. The bad one is you don't believe and God does exist, you're screwed.

Being an atheist allows me to offer respect belief in any and all religions. People who ascribe to a specific religion can only be upset by people worshiping a different God or alternate dogma. Also, atheism affords the perspective that modern religions are a set of dogma create by males who are almost always zealots and fanatics. For example, where in the bible does is say that the Catholic power players, like Cardinals and the Pope, should wear ridiculous looking hats ?

He had 18 years to write a manual for living in his own hand and signature. What do we have from him? Not one single word IN HIS OWN HAND. No wonder the mission failed.
