atlyss feels like gooner bait but in the most literal sense, like it feels like it lures you in with large proportions but then you actually see how charming and cute the whole game is and it keeps you there
Every time the cute goat(?) girl showed up I felt torn because I like the charm of the game but the way the dev put the bazonkers front and center made me feel like a kid stumbling into the curtained-off section of the video store and finding those weird cartoons
@@WhoWatchesVideos I can get that. Like the dev does REALLY care about their character designs and their core gameplay loop... but then a little voice on their shoulders went "Boobs, Titties Even, Honkers If You Feel So Inclined, if you insist Mammaries, if you would Mommy Milkies, if I were to be so bold JUGS, IF IT WERE TO PLEASE YOUR FANCY MAMMARY GLANDS, IF I WERE TO CAUSE MINIMAL TO NO MENTAL DISTRESS TO YOU RESPECTIVELY, OF COURSE"

I'd vaguely heard of a game called 'Nine Sols' before this vid, but when I saw the intro sequence with the village, I immediately skipped to the next game because I knew I needed to play it for myself. A few days later, and I'm back after beating the game to say that this isn't just my indie GOTY, it's my entire GOTY. Holy shit this game is incredible. Thank you so much for shining a spotlight on it - I might not have found it otherwise!
I honestly agree with the comment you made at the end. I think videos about non-soulslike games, maybe the indies you play on the side, would be very interesting. You’ve catered a great audience and I think exposing them to lesser known games would be great and help out many indie devs out there.
Dude I know there are a ton of great indie devs of other genres, I’m hear to leave that alone. It’s not indie anymore but if I hear about Stardew Valley one more time, I’ll go into a coma.
@@EldenRingPlayer-q7cAn indie game is a game made by a solo/small team of developers, generally without support from a large publisher. Just because a game is popular doesn't mean it isn't an indie game anymore.
Seconded, I owe like half of my Steam library to Pine. I'd also watch the dude review literally anything, he exudes joy and positivity and I love how he always has something constructive to offer the dev teams of the demos he features.
@@EldenRingPlayer-q7c does it bother you that other people like a game and like to praise it? cause thats just weird. alos indie means independent, as in independant development team, not unpopular.
The real name for the series Steam Dumpster Diving works better for this already. Him being loose with the definition doesn't bother me. But I get why he names the videos how he does. They probably do better for the TH-cam algorithm in general

@@TBContent24 The furnace is in the movie. The lady I don't think so.
Reading comprehension is important: I said the scary lady in the attic might be representing his irrational fear of being up there. In the movie he says it's scary up there. Nothing is scary up there except for whatever is in his imagination, and in this game, maybe the creators thought a scary ghost might work for this.
As of this video, Pine has shown us 200 souls-like games throughout this series. With over twenty hours of recorded content and without a doubt _hundreds_ of hours of actual play time, I think it’s safe to say that this beloved ferrous tropic loves what he does. Thank you, Pine for the reviews. I’m sure I don’t stand alone in saying you’ve massively improved my steam library.
While I've tried many and can only call Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring good. LotF 2 and this games mechanic is just a way to save time not building more maps and hopefully NO other souls-like does it in the future.
I think "hundreds" is underselling it. Has to be thousands, especially considering the number of times he's gone "alright i'll end it here, but I finished the game on my own time".
Just finished Nine Sols because of your vid. I thank you so much for your honesty in the praise you given it. Combat was excellent and the story was just a joy to behold. May not have ever have found it without your vid, so keep this series going strong!

Yep. Enjoyed plenty of his non-souls or less-souls review content, no problem. I feel bad for creators who have a bunch of single-minded juvenile fans who just want to pigeon-hole them on one single type of content. I'm here to watch the person, not necessarily the game
about Nine Sols: The devs describe it as "Taopunk", a blend of daoism and cyberpunk. Alongside all the well-deserved praise you've already given the game, I'd like to add that the daoist ideas in Nine Sols are absolutely amazing. I teach and give presentations about daoism and I'm planning on writing an analysis on how Nine Sols uses it, both in story and in gameplay.
idk how old your students are (definitily seems like a university/conference kinda subject), but imagine how high-school / early-20's students would feel if you made them discover a cool new video game
The fact that these continue to get longer is hilarious, but also, I really appreciate your in-depth look at these games. You don't come into it with the same vibe as other reviewers, and really try to find the heart of each game.
Atlyss already looked interesting to me, but seeing actual gameplay solidified it for me. I've found so many games through this series, I'm so glad you're still doing it.
@@theelite2351 They have characters and designs with explicit s3x appeal to male and female fantasies - hot young women with naked feet or massive booba or buff muscular men with chiseled abs. Compare it to for example to OG Halo Trilogy where there is zero fan service or zero s3x appeal.
nine sols is my new favorite game of all time. I'd been waiting since the demo and the full product is just... holy shit. the HK and sekiro comparisons dont do it justice; neither of these games made me freaking cry moments before entering a back-and-forth dance of death over the ethics of immortality. brilliant.
Agreed, I highly recommend it to anyone that liked parry games (sekiro/lies of p) and the story shouldn't be slept on either (and there's a LOT of hidden meaning if you look up chinese mythology afterwards) . The final "real" boss fight took me five hours but was insanely good. An absolute gem
Been waiting for news on the ps5 port since this released. They said in a comment thread a while back that it would release 'this year' but there's been no news since. Very excited to try it though
I absolutely despised the endings. Honestly kind of ruined the game for me. The rest is excellent, but the final boss is unnecessarily overtuned and the endings behind said boss are not worth it.
A single dev making that Atlyss game is astonishing. They also nailed a very particular aesthetic, even down to the squished fonts for the enemies. I also recognise Gerudo thieves’ hideout!
They've been making it for a long time, I remember some of the first snapshots in indie game servers from like 3-4 years ago. The systems have improved massively
So the dev for Atlyss is an ex-NSFW artist, however they've stated that the game itself wouldn't be NSFW aside from the very obvious character sliders and some boss attacks as you saw. Also afaik the game is still a W.I.P so there's also definitely more to come
It was likely demo version 3.4.8a, which is just a public beta test. Atlyss has already undergone multiple revamps, and is actively in dev, so it being wip is a true statement.
I love when NSFW artists divert their talents to something else. It's nice to see passionate people pursue new passions, especially when they're more artistic like this.
@@deidmann1131 Not saying this is what you're saying, but man I hate when people hate on NSFW artists or something in like a "Why couldn't they use their talents better?" kind of way. Like, bro, if they wanna draw NSFW art that's none of your business. I get that some of them may only be doing it because it sells, gets commissions etc, but there are plenty who just want to do that. If they do other stuff as well, cool. If they'd rather stick to their guns, also cool.
I gotta say that after playing Nine Sols upon Pine's recommendation it has quickly become one of my favourite games ever, easily top 3. The narrative, characters, world and music create such an enthralling atmosphere that kept me playing just as much for the mystery and development as the incredible gameplay. Once the combat clicks oh my god. The boss fights become a truly transcendental gaming experience. I love this game, thank you Pine
You know, this series has evolved a lot. The thoughtful critique that you put in to each game is very different from the more joke centered early videos talking about asset flip games. The games themselves have gotten more interesting as well. The framing of hunting for the best souls-like was useful and entertaining, but I am absolutely ready if you want to drop the constant justification and just talk about some excellent games to play, regardless of if they are souls-like or not. I'm just one viewer in a sea of millions, but I'll be there to watch those, if that is the direction you choose to go. Love your stuff Iron Pineapple, I'll keep watching either way.
I'm basically in the same boat here. I also would not be sad at all if these got broken up into shorter, more frequent uploads. I know the community jokes about the videos continuously getting longer, but I would really prefer shorter 30-60 minute uploads as opposed to the feature length films we've been getting.
I love the souls-like framing just purely because I think it's really funny to see how far we can stretch the defenition of a souls-like :P According to the wise words of Josh Strife-Hays, an MMO is a game with a fishing mechanic, and in that vein, I'd like to propose that a soulslike is a game with dodge roll i-frames 😌
OK, I knew Bloodborne Kart was a fun game but HOLY SHIT I had no idea it was THAT funny and had so many badass kart designs! I NEED to unlock all these, STAT! Thank you for the share, Pineapple.
Nine Sols became one of my favorite games after beating it 2 days ago. Such an incredible experience. Due to the lack of hearing people talk about it I probably wouldnt have known about it if it wasnt for your video from a while back. Thank you for this series
Hey you know Atlyss? There WAS a platforming secret. At the top of the library, if you climb the shelves, you can jump out the window and climb up an outer path to the roof, where there is a chest and two 2nd Changs. And while typing this comment I just learned that if you sit by it long enough the chest RESPAWNS with new loot.
Okay I sat here and now it has given me one piece at a time a playboy bunny outfit... Yep. I mean I look classy don't get me wrong though. Oh yeah and it also gave me tomes of experience.
I don't know if this is different from the beta version that Iron Pineapple played, but in the Steam release there's three different secret chests hidden throughout the starting village.
Nine Sols is to Hollow Knight what Lies of P is to Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Takes heavy inspiration, and does something utterly unique with it. Definitely way better than people give it credit for.
IMO it is what sekiro to dark souls. It provides a unique spin with better combat than hollow knight. This is hands down the best combat 2d game I’ve played, and I’ve done all endings in hollow knight
Okay... I am sorry to be the hater here... but did Lies of P really do anything particularly unique? I'd say that is a game we should celebrate for its competence, but it is one of the most derivative Souls-likes I have played.
@@spman2099 The most glaring feature to me is the persistent risk-reward of the combat's block vs. perfect block. It's the same mechanics as a lot of FS games, but they're all mixed together, and balanced surprisingly well. Also, a rather unique take on Pinocchio.
I just wanna say, as arguably one of the biggest fan of (modern) metroidvanias, roguelites, and souls games, I went and bought Nine Sols. and I have to say, it is truly a masterful work of art. The story is engaging, never revealing too much, coasting along with the gameplay. Almost every single boss was memorable and had me ecstatic to fight them. The final fight, especially with the true ending variation, is indeed a massive difficulty spike, but if you compare it to something like Isshin directly, I wouldn't classify it as harder or easier. You can learn the rhythm of the fight. Took me about 45 minutes to beat it, by far my longest boss clear, not to put the others down whatsoever. The combat is extremely crisp, the movement feels extremely similar to Hollow Knight (so it's very good), and I agree, this game deserves indie game of the year. It is a stellar example of why indie games deserve to exist and don't deserve to be pushed down by larger companies. In my opinion, this game beats out Hollow Knight. It has a better narrative, more in depth combat, a better charm system, and only loses out to environment design (which is still overall spectacular btw). For anyone who enjoyed Sekiro OR Hollow Knight (or even Dead Cells), do yourself a favor, and play Nine Sols. The only warning I will give, similar to what Pine said, is that the "intro sequence" is lengthy, but in my opinion, he *kind of* got this wrong as well, and by that I mean, the entire game is fairly slow paced, and is vaguely linear, BUT, I didn't once think of this as a bad thing. The pacing being slow allows you to use and adapt to a new mechanic without having another piled on top immediately, and so when you get to the next skill, equipment, etc unlock, it is always impactful whether its for combat, movement, or both (because besides the Bow, it's always both.) 10/10, I could not more highly recommend an experience. The game has two difficulties, Standard and Story, with Story being "easy mode" which I didn't play on or try, but theres that for folks who are pushed away by the difficulty.
Dude, I just want to say that these are some of the best gaming videos on youtube right now. It's always so cool to see you explore games both big and small, and I always end up wishlisting a few amazing looking hidden gems after watching. Your commentary is always a mix of being entertaining, insightful, and also calming. One of my favorite parts about your vids is the fact that you always have such a positive, gentle attitude when approaching these games. Even when a game is lacking, buggy, or unpolished in some regards, you always take it easy on the devs and give really helpful advice instead of getting frustrated or hateful. It really shows that you understand the difficulties of game dev, especially for smaller indie games and projects, and I really think it's great that despite all that you always seem to find something that you enjoy about a game. It also makes for a really fun dynamic when you play with Vaati who ends up being a lot more cynical (in a fun way, The Last Oricru video was ridiculously entertaining). I always leave your videos feeling better than I did going in, it's rare to see such consistent positivity on youtube nowadays. On the topic of non-souls games, I ABSOLUTELY think you should make those vids! Some of the best games you've featured in the last couple videos have strayed from the soulslike genre (nightmare kart, frogmonster, pseudoregalia, clash: artifacts of chaos) and I think it would be a great change of pace for both you and your viewers. You shouldn't feel limited to the genre just because a lot of people know you as "the soulslike guy", and I think that by opening up to other games you could really explore the boundless creativity in the indie game community. Besides, all the positive things that make your videos great will carry on no matter what game you play, and I think that that's what your audience really loves. Sorry for the essay, just wanted to throw you some much needed compliments that come to mind every single time I watch your vids. You're really doing something special. Keep it up!
couldnt have said it better, seconding this comment! regardless of how soulsey the game in question is, pine does incredible job of reviewing them in a supportive manner and giving them a fair chance. definitely a top tier reviewer on YT. interested to see what happens next
I just want to appreciate how kind pineapple is on these reviews. Really gives me the vibe that he's someone that genuinely loves games, loves seeing new ones come out, loves the excitement of a new or different experience. Despite having every chance in the book to reasonable dog on a game, he is very respectful and very conservative most of the time about not just berating all of the poor things of the game, and very consciously only giving out constructive nuggets of wisdom, from someone who is very well versed in the genre. Long winded way of just saying im impressed almost every single video with how swell of a dude pineapple seems to be. Love the videos as always, would watch even if they werent souls-likes, as long as they were still interesting to pineapple himself. WHY DOES FATHER GREGORY HAVE SO MUCH SWAG
Honestly I gotta agree. Instead of going (for example in Atlyss) "Ewwwwww, furry" like almost every cringe person would go, he just goes "Hmm, I don't think this is for me but I do like the character design aesthetically" and gives good criticisms
Wholly agree with you, Nine Sols is my game of the year. Glad to see you feature the full release and go all the way through it and enjoy yourself Pine! And wow, that one darkness boss with the eye scanning in Perennial was genuinely cool as hell, I adore the aesthetic and the design, it's a shame it fell so flat gameplay wise because that is unsettling and awesome as hell to look at, even with that part being frustrating thanks for including it so we could see and appreciate it's design!
I wasn't expecting to be recommended a Shortstack Furry Action MMO in an Iron Pineapple video I expected the Shortstack Furry game to be a Metroidvania.
I haven't laughed so hard in a long time but when I saw the "Nicholas" fight in Nightmare Kart. Jesus. Christ. I was LOSING it. That was so fun to watch. Kudos to LIlith, man. Holy hell. And that Perineal Order playthrough was so fun, too. Definitely do it, Pine. Review games that aren't Souls-likes. I'm here for it, brother.
Id love that honestly cause he really gets the vibes down for every interesting game in this series at far even when they’re not really souls likes they still just have a certain atmosphere to them
this is byfar one the best yt-channels out there. for real i dont care which games u play because i always have the feeling u are enjoying some games so much and i have just fun watching u.
I'm so happy Red Candle is doing okay after everything they've been thru. This just cements their grade of talent. I will absolutely never play Nine Sols, but I'm glad it's a game I know there's an audience for.
I looked into Red Candle Games because of Nine Sols. What's funny is that despite the banning of Devotion due to mild mocking of China's president I was surprised that as I play through their first game Detention a lot of elements are critical of their own country Taiwan being overly oppressive. Goes to show who is more sensitive.
i love the idea of you branching outside of soulslike! it's what brought you to experimenting with games but it doesn't have to be what you do forever exclusively. i watch these videos because they're fun and wholesome and explore what small indie dev teams are making. im here as a iron pineapple fan more than a souls fan
This was another fun one to binge, my guy. Honestly, I'm totally okay with the transition from this being about Souls-Likes to having less since while I like Souls-Likes a lot, the extra variety we get by just looking at, "things that look neat," gives us a lot more variety to gawk at.
The fact that Nightmare Kart is free is shocking to me. I know it was promised to be free when it was tied to Bloodborne for obvious reasons, but the dev deserves the recognition for making a silly idea into something truly special.
I’ve had Nine Sols in my library for a while now, but your recommendation finally got me to actually play it. I can confidently say everything you stated about the game was 100% correct.
I fully agree with your opinion on Nine Sols, one thing that stands out especially for me are how well the bosses are designed. Multi phases don't just pull entirely new movesets out of their ass but expand on what you already learned. They also know how to design multi enemy bossfights well, because they don't just spam attacks and are always well timed so you never have situations that feel utterly hopeless and don't give you any opportunity to attack. That's something even From Software struggles with a fair bit.
I can't speak for your whole audience, and I'm sure there will always be people that don't like changes to the formulae, but I enjoy your content for two major reasons. 1. Your insight into games is interesting and informative. Sometimes I know a game isn't for me even when you enjoy it, but other times I like certain games you don't, but it always feels like a well thought out and well meaning review. 2. The games you find on here that I would never have heard of otherwise is a great source of niche gaming, broadening what kinds of games you'll look at, and therefore, I'll find to play, is fantastic. I think you should definitely do a steam dumpster diving series on whatever game type suits your fancy.
ngl Atlyss actually looks dope as hell. Like one dev? Seriously? Very impressive. Disregarding the gooning for a moment I actually love the energy it gives off. I see a lot of potential in it!
To be fair I think having some funny little things like that is so fine. It’s just a deeper level of customisation regardless of your tastes. Take baldurs gate for example, it doesn’t take away from the fact it’s a great game
I have never heard of Nine Sols before this. I just beat the third boss and I'm in absolute love with this game. It's climbing into my top 10 favorite games really fast and I have you to thank for that. I came back to say say thank you for getting this game out there. ❤️❤️
Fukin banger of a video. I can safely speak for a lot of us Pine but the true entertainment in this series is definitely not the soulslike tag but always you featuring every single genre of games with no prejudice whatsoever. You're there to find something worth your time and it's always fun to see your commentary and hear your criticism on even the most sloppiest of games. If you truly wish to take it in a different direction, go for it cause as long as you're still you, it's gonna be great.
There were several questionable "inspirations" that one boss was just Gengar, some of the enemies were other pokemon as well, and the priest lady was a cross between Toriel and Purah.
We joked about the fact that each video of this type are longer each time. To that, Pineapple answered "Bet" I thank you for your dedication Steel Fruit, your work is our joy !
I can personally say that I don't watch these videos because you cover souls-likes, I watch because I like to hear your takes, see your gameplay, and get introduced to cool games of any genre

Having played Nine Sols earlier this year, seeing you review it in this video made me jump out of my chair. I LOVED this game, for all the same reasons you just provided. Hopefully more people see it and experience it, because it deserves so much damn praise for what it accomplished.
NINE SOLS IS AWESOME. 100% agree on the last boss fight; huge difficulty spike, but SO satisfying when you master the dance. The only comment I would say is that I wouldn't necessarily describe Nine Sols as a Metroidvania, since the progression is reasonably linear, and there's not a huge platforming focus. There's definitely exploration and secrets to be found, but I would say it's less of a focus than a game like Hollow Knight. Still an amazing, awesome game that everybody should play.
This video led to me playing Nine Sols and it was amazing. Thank you so much for featuring this absolute gem of a game. I dont think I ever would have played it otherwise.
For as many good things as he says about Nine Sols, the way he shifted tones from "I'll get back to you" to his final review is what sold me on this game. I hope I get to play it someday.
I will always love and cherish this series. Arguably my favorite on TH-cam, but I've come to like your personality and takes on video games as a whole. I for one would love to see you tackle the indie space as a whole instead of feeling like you are being shoe horned into only covering souls-likes. Souls-likes can stay as their own video, but have them weaved in between other indie games. Maybe even make souls-like videos semi annually or really even just once a year so they can feel more "special" in a way. What I would love to know is would you cover any indie game or would you structure each video around a different genre? Regardless I'd still watch it like the metal fruit addict I am.
Sorting them by genres would feel pretty on-brand from Pineapple, but I wouldn't mind a more unstructured format either. Sometimes it helps to find games that are a little out of your comfort zone that you would still enjoy. On the other hand, sorting them by things like genre, length, vibe etc. will definitely help the youtube algorithm.
Incredibly touching to hear your opinion on nine sols as it has also gone down in my personal history book of favourite games - on the topic of the final boss though, I am going to assume this opinion is based on the true ending version? If so, I totally share your take on it, so much so that I saved the fight on my phone's camera roll to look back at every now and then :P
Gorble has some absolutely insane movement/combat potential! Just imagine a Super Monkey Ball + Rock of Ages dungeon crawler with a pinch of Katamari Damacy that really just envelopes the concept and just maximizes the Gorblike genre.
100% agree on the Nine Sols take and more people need to try it out. Easily some of my favorite combat with an amazing flow to it. Learning that final boss especially near the end is like unlocking a god mode within you, one of the best moments of this entire game
Thanks for covering Nine Sols, it's criminally underrated. It'll be _really_ tough for anything to go past it as GOTY for me, it's one of the best gaming experiences I've had in the past 10 years.
I stopped watching the video to finally buy, download and play Nine Sols. I have 100% the game. In the span of hours, I went from cursing the final boss, to grinning as I noticed my mastery over phases. I REPEATEDLY choked with the boss at
The final boss of PO is SO friggin pretty - I feel like monochrome inverted colors aren't used NEARLY enough these days! There's no way I would ever be bale to beat this game without mods, and some of the boss designs are just TOO scary, but I am very glad it exists! The art style deserves to become super influential, no cap!
Thank you so much! I worked very hard to make the art something special, I can honestly say I put all of my passion and effort into to making it the best I could. Comments like this really make all the work worth it.
@@ArtofVincentVanHoof Please do continue your work. This game is too punishing for me, and I wouldnt find someone to play this kind of game with but I would totally love a less hardcore game with this artstyle.!
honestly, enotria looks like what we probably would've expected lies of P to be if that game hadn't hit it out of the park like it did. which if anything goes to show just how difficult it is to make a project like that come together into something more than the sum of its parts, especially when your ambitions are big but your team is small
Yeah totally agree. P totally surprised me, but Enotria is absolutely what I had been expecting P would be like. Idk if it’s team size or what, but I wouldn’t be spending all their money on fancy trailer cutscenes… not when the game clearly needs a lot of work…
Had a similar thought. It really does hit "This is what people THOUGHT Lies of P was gonna end up as". I do appreciate Pineapple giving it a fair shake, though he is correct. It's got a good premise, the world design IS amazing. But Gameplay seems like a first draft more then the rest of the game. Like that great sword taking 3-5 business days to connect.

atlyss feels like gooner bait but in the most literal sense, like it feels like it lures you in with large proportions but then you actually see how charming and cute the whole game is and it keeps you there
Titties are a gateway drug to being actually invested.

Nine Sols is to Hollow Knight what Lies of P is to Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Takes heavy inspiration, and does something utterly unique with it. Definitely way better than people give it credit for.
perfect analogy brother
IMO it is what sekiro to dark souls. It provides a unique spin with better combat than hollow knight. This is hands down the best combat 2d game I’ve played, and I’ve done all endings in hollow knight
As someone who adores both Lies of P and Hollow Knight I couldn’t agree more, I really like the game from the first impression I got!
The pacing being slow allows you to use and adapt to a new mechanic without having another piled on top immediately, and so when you get to the next skill, equipment, etc unlock, it is always impactful whether its for combat, movement, or both (because besides the Bow, it's always both.)
10/10, I could not more highly recommend an experience. The game has two difficulties, Standard and Story, with Story being "easy mode" which I didn't play on or try, but theres that for folks who are pushed away by the difficulty.
Holy hell he's still going
Only thing that holds him back is the release schedule of games :P
I hope he never stops!

Keep it up!

I love how this series has become "Iron Pineapple convinces us this is a souls like" So good, but I always end up playing most of these, love Atlyss!

Nine sols really should have won best indie game of the year. It's a masterpiece man.

To be fair I think having some funny little things like that is so fine. It’s just a deeper level of customisation regardless of your tastes. Take baldurs gate for example, it doesn’t take away from the fact it’s a great game
I fucking love games with gooner elements that decides it should be a good game first, gooning second.
@@chitandaeru7239 I think designers should stick to their goons.
@@jimmythehand1000 furry goon is a diff vibe its very blatant
The Imp option in Atlyss is 100% just Midna from Twilight Princess
I so badly want a sequel to Twilight Princess one day and more Midna is a large part of that.
There were several questionable "inspirations" that one boss was just Gengar, some of the enemies were other pokemon as well, and the priest lady was a cross between Toriel and Purah.
@@osmium7738 More Haunter than Gengar but yeah
@@osmium7738yeah I instantly clocked the Haunter/Gengar inspo, but tbf, it works.
@@JJAB91I was 5 when I first beat it with my grandpa and started crying when midna had to go back to the twilight realm😭
Bloodborne Kart delivered more than I could've imagined or expected
Seems like a terryfic experience all around, very creative, epic soundtrack, I feel puzzled.
Pine, I just finished Nine Sols today and holy shit what a game man. I started playing it because of you and you were right. Absolute masterpiece
We joked about the fact that each video of this type are longer each time.
To that, Pineapple answered "Bet"
I thank you for your dedication Steel Fruit, your work is our joy !
I can personally say that I don't watch these videos because you cover souls-likes, I watch because I like to hear your takes, see your gameplay, and get introduced to cool games of any genre

Got the true ending of nine sols this morning. Spent the rest of the day wishing I had more nine sols to play. That cut to the new main menu after the credits with the music swell got me. I got got
Having played Nine Sols earlier this year, seeing you review it in this video made me jump out of my chair. I LOVED this game, for all the same reasons you just provided. Hopefully more people see it and experience it, because it deserves so much damn praise for what it accomplished.
Imma be honest here my sir pineapple. I don't watch these because you play souls likes, I watch these cause I love cool little indie games
So glad you reviewed Nine Sols, still one of my favorite games that came out this year and I wish more people gave it a chance
I’m so excited to give it a try
Honestly looks like such a great game
NINE SOLS IS AWESOME. 100% agree on the last boss fight; huge difficulty spike, but SO satisfying when you master the dance.
The only comment I would say is that I wouldn't necessarily describe Nine Sols as a Metroidvania, since the progression is reasonably linear, and there's not a huge platforming focus. There's definitely exploration and secrets to be found, but I would say it's less of a focus than a game like Hollow Knight.
Still an amazing, awesome game that everybody should play.
Im so glad you gave Nine Sols some love. Its so criminally underrated.
"Damn it! Six Queens!" might be my favorite moment from one of these videos, legendary moment

39:20 When Iron ask a Boss rush what he usually hate, it mean that the game was indeed a GODLY GOOD !
Thanks for still keeping this series going Iron Pineapple, you my favourite Content creator
Thanks for putting me and so many others on to nine sols--a true masterpiece, and perhaps the greatest soulslike ever.
The amount of joy that went into that Bloodborne kart racer is amazing.
"This isn't like a gooner game is it?" into "Ohhh, my GOD" was absolutely hilarious

Platforming mechanics would bring the gooning game over the edge, you say?
LOL
That certainly explains why they're not in the game~
The final boss of PO is SO friggin pretty - I feel like monochrome inverted colors aren't used NEARLY enough these days! There's no way I would ever be bale to beat this game without mods, and some of the boss designs are just TOO scary, but I am very glad it exists! The art style deserves to become super influential, no cap!
Thank you so much! I worked very hard to make the art something special, I can honestly say I put all of my passion and effort into to making it the best I could. Comments like this really make all the work worth it.
@@ArtofVincentVanHoof Well you're very welcome :) Despite all the junk on here, sometimes the internet CAN be used for good!
@@ArtofVincentVanHoof Please do continue your work. This game is too punishing for me, and I wouldnt find someone to play this kind of game with but I would totally love a less hardcore game with this artstyle.!
the parry sound effect in nine sols is so clean
honestly, enotria looks like what we probably would've expected lies of P to be if that game hadn't hit it out of the park like it did. which if anything goes to show just how difficult it is to make a project like that come together into something more than the sum of its parts, especially when your ambitions are big but your team is small
Yeah totally agree. P totally surprised me, but Enotria is absolutely what I had been expecting P would be like. Idk if it’s team size or what, but I wouldn’t be spending all their money on fancy trailer cutscenes… not when the game clearly needs a lot of work…
Adding so many different systems that don’t seemed tuned as well as they could use to take away a ton of time needed elsewhere.
@@NEEDbaconapparently the full game has addressed a lot of those criticisms, so I hope Pineapple reviews the full game to see if it’s improved vastly from the demo
Enotria is now officially out and the look and feel are way better than in the demo. I would recommend a second look, even if only on lets plays.
