Yeah, it would be interesting to see Gino do a run like that. Tulok & Mango did that exact run but with even better rules than the ones you suggested (video: "How Effective is Equal Stat Growth in Elden Ring?").
29:30 really showcasing just how strong Frozen Lightning Spear is. Super underrated spell. The damage it does is nuts because it does lightning damage AND frost buildup. Having access to both of those damage types makes it a fantastic spell for nuking bosses. It's riskier to use because you need to get in close for both hits to get the full damage but oh man is it worth it.
I think it's very fairly rated. It's fine. For what it is and what it does. It's very OK. Some handy things that will hopefully help (No Spoilers), sorry if it's been repeated a bunch by other people: -On the map, there will be locations marked with dark spots with an orange/red aura (there is one in the Northwestern corner of Agheel Lake, the lake with the giganto crabs on the eastern end). These marks are mines which have upgrade materials which spawn as white and yellow crystals/rocks -The upgrade materials have numbered tiers. So a Smithing Stone [2] is higher than a Smithing Stone [1]. It can be easy to confuse tier of stonr with quantity. And Somber Smithing Stones are different from the regular variety -Weapons scale with a letter system like a tier list, with S being highest and A just under that etc. When you get weapons you want to scale the damage of, focus on the stat with the better scaling letter. They are shown in the same menu as the requirements to weild the weapon. Ashes of War can change the scaling of weapons to better suit your wants, but weapons tend to scale best with certain stats (fast weapons scale with Dexterity and big slow weapons with Strength) -Similar to the mines, there are obeliak marks in the gray areas of the map (once you've travelled the area enough to clear the fog). These are map piece locations -You may not encounter it for a while, but you can jump over shockwave attacks. They are more easily jumped than avoided by invulnerability frames from rolling -You have the right idea about those golden lines coming from Graces. They vaguely point towards graces closer to story progress, but exploration is key to success. -one of the tricks to dodging is wait for the attack to come forward. Many enemies delay their draw back animation to catch you after a roll. You have pretty good invulnerability window (rule of thumb is you're invincible while your feet aren't on the ground dueing the roll animation) -Endurance will give you more stamina and equip load, so you can wear hwavier armor qithout goong into Heavy Load, which will severely hinder your dodge ability. Medium Load is a great balance between speed and good protection from armor. 20-25 Endurance is generally high enough for most builds unless you want the heaviest armors -Stuns on bosses happen from posture damage. Light, fast attacks don't do a lot, the spinning slash/storm stomp does an okay amount. Heavy attacks (Right trigger/R2) can be charged to do more posture damage, but you may find smaller weapons still don't stun very often. There is a signature sound when larger bosses are staggered, mich like the back stab, you can get very close to the glowing spot, and press right bumper (R1) to do a critical attack -Some weapons have a status effect. It will be listed at the bottom such as Bleed (50) or Frost (45). That is yhe type and amount of buildup they apply. The statuses can be very handy, but any enemies that appear to be ghosts/phantoms/illusions (or made entirely of stone) will likely be immune to them -You will be disappointed if you expect a clear, laid out story. FromSoft doesn't really do that. An incredible story is there, but you want just happen across it in general play. You will be very unlikely to complete any NPC quests or unlock alternate endings without outside resources. That isn't a slight against you, but the nature of the cryptic storytelling Hopefully that wasn't overwhelming. There's just a lot I wish the game communicated more clearly
for the fire storm incantation, you can epuip caestus and endure and then cast the spell, the only thing to stagger me out of it is bleed/frost OR radahn's meteor landing, everything else you poise through and get off a huge spell
Malenia won't get stunned when she has hyperarmour. She can still take poise damage but if her poise gets to zero, her poise will just recover instead of stance breaking. She has hyperarmour when she jumps backwards. That's why she can't be stunned @3:08:45.
As someone who mains Faith builds, this video is killing my soul. My brother in Christ, there are like 10 incants that are existential weapons of mass destruction and half are early game.
Looking through the list of incantations, there's not a single one I would define as "weapon of mass destruction" that doesn't come from late game areas.
It is crazy how good elden ring is. They really went above and beyond with increasing all kind of Spells etc, i do not know a game that has so many ways to be played. Aweseome vid ty.
very excited for this run. love the pure stat build challenges--i've been playing through seamless coop with a squad of one-stat goons. its been awful and amazing
One super important note about the golden order incants is how heavily they scale with intelligence. I made a build focused around SoNaF and golden order incants, and at 50 for each int and faith, Discus of Light (at 3 fp per cast), was doing about 800 damage a hit to astel, without any significant buffing procedures, other than physik and and goldmask headpiece.
A shame he chose Aincient Dragon Lightning for Rykard. He's very doable with spells that have better range. Ice Lightning Spear would've worked very well. Status, Multi hit, and Range.
2:46:37 Bloodflame Talons isn't actually that bad of an Incantation, having pretty nasty bleed build up and damage. The reason it sucks against Mohg is because Bloodflame Talons deals Fire Damage, which Mohg has an 80% resistance to, and since bosses gain resistance to Status Effects after each successful proc, and you were using Swarm of Flies to proc Hemorrhage explains Bloodflame Talon's seemingly weaker Hemorrhage build up. It's definitely not the best Incantation out there in itself, but against an enemy not near impervious to Fire Damage, it can put in some decent work. The Dragon Communion Seal should also boost it's Hemorrhage build up, since it scales with Arcane, but I might be talking out my ass on that one
This game is mind blowingly good and im glad this guy takes it to the next level and even still plays it. He shows what can be done and things like that and that it can be a lasting journey to have fun with.
I love your videos. There have been times where your mental health message has pulled me from the brink but also times like right now where I'm feeling great. But the contrast of the two situations really helps to put things in perspective and it genuinely helps every time I hear it.
1:33:50 i think any enemy that spawns without a boss health bar can have golden eyes, i had the gargoyle on the way up to the capital with golden eyes, and i think its because i doesnt have an on screen health bar like the others
Elden Ring: "oh no no no, you can't just jump from that cliff, even if you used your magic horse double jump to break the fall! That's too high >:(" Also, Elden Ring: 15:15
Does anyone know of good resources for people getting into challenge runs like this? Like pathing, where to find stones and runes early, and what buffs are available early? Ideally something that I could read during slow moments at work. These videos are great! Just found the channel and got me excited all over again for Elden Ring!
I think it's unfortunate that you didn't try Maliketh's blade spell more. The fully charged version instantly cuts off a large chunk of their HP, and the follow up does heavy black flame damage
Not a Stat run but should maybe be challenging still. Region lock, All Major bosses (so all the Great Rune bosses if confused), Somber Smithing Stone Halberds only. Part of the challenge for this run is the limited number of Somber Smithing Stone upgrading Halberds since there is much more plain Smithing Stone upgrading Halberds and there are a few regions (i think 3?) that have no Somber Halberds so it requires going to regions you may not have wanted to go + they are slow timing weapons for the most part
Haha super cool run and nice to see almost all the incantations used. I was waiting for you to try Elden Stars though! That homing & continuous attack helped me on my 1st playthrough a lot :) And I never knew Burn O Flame! was so busted o.O
Very. Even if you tried to not use the serpent hunter it would still be boring. BUT… You can’t deny how geeked out you were at the sheer hell and unnerving nature you felt from his cutscene when you walked into that boss room. Also, the way you have to fight the boss; while “straightforward”, the scale of everything happening is still cool as hell. And not just the fight, but the whole theme of the volcano manor being in a volcano, the wonder at what the demigod you will face soon ahead will bring, just to encounter Godrick the Grafted (which everyone thought was a cool fight at first okay) but like a million feet tall, also a giant snake, but with a GIANT HUMAN FACE on it, pulling a sword out of his throat, and then decides he doesn’t want to kill you, no, it’s the GODS he’s after. And he’s gonna turn you into him to achieve it. All this, as you’re standing in a sea of corpses holding a single weapon they made to fight this one snake, but were unsuccessful. I just ranted for way too long because I can’t fall asleep, but like INCREASE, you can’t tell me that those reasons don’t just automatically bump him way up on a tier list. He is literally that one part of the game that everyone loves at first sight, but just gets annoying to the hardcore community after maybe 2 playthroughs max. And honestly, I’m okay with at least one crazy awesome spectacle of a boss, if this is him. Made the first playthrough just that much better
I played the “Slayer Build” in Goblin Caves and had a lot of fun. You can use the lantern in offhand to proc the duel wield buffs, for a lower movement speed penalty.
Don’t worry, I have *faith* in you. Just remain calm, breathe and remain *faithful* to your duty Anyways, enjoy the run Yours *faithfully* The pun master

Medium Load is a great balance between speed and good protection from armor. 20-25 Endurance is generally high enough for most builds unless you want the heaviest armors
-Stuns on bosses happen from posture damage. Light, fast attacks don't do a lot, the spinning slash/storm stomp does an okay amount. Heavy attacks (Right trigger/R2) can be charged to do more posture damage, but you may find smaller weapons still don't stun very often. There is a signature sound when larger bosses are staggered, mich like the back stab, you can get very close to the glowing spot, and press right bumper (R1) to do a critical attack
-Some weapons have a status effect. It will be listed at the bottom such as Bleed (50) or Frost (45). That is yhe type and amount of buildup they apply. The statuses can be very handy, but any enemies that appear to be ghosts/phantoms/illusions (or made entirely of stone) will likely be immune to them
-You will be disappointed if you expect a clear, laid out story. FromSoft doesn't really do that. An incredible story is there, but you want just happen across it in general play. You will be very unlikely to complete any NPC quests or unlock alternate endings without outside resources. That isn't a slight against you, but the nature of the cryptic storytelling
Hopefully that wasn't overwhelming. There's just a lot I wish the game communicated more clearly
Hey man! Would love to see the rest of Convergence archetypes explored in the future! 🎉🎉🎉
for the fire storm incantation, you can epuip caestus and endure
and then cast the spell, the only thing to stagger me out of it is bleed/frost OR radahn's meteor landing, everything else you poise through and get off a huge spell
I love your videos Gino keep up the good work!
My brother in Christ, there are like 10 incants that are existential weapons of mass destruction and half are early game.
what would you say are your top 10 ? i just rebirth myself to make a faith build and havent really experienced many of the incantations
Your mom
Looking through the list of incantations, there's not a single one I would define as "weapon of mass destruction" that doesn't come from late game areas.
Black flame
@@flagmuffin1221To be fair, he said existential wmd's..
It is crazy how good elden ring is. They really went above and beyond with increasing all kind of Spells etc, i do not know a game that has so many ways to be played. Aweseome vid ty.
It's finally here!
watched many shorts already
Frozen lighting spear had always been one of my favorite incantations, I like using that with the dragon halberd to build frost even more
very excited for this run. love the pure stat build challenges--i've been playing through seamless coop with a squad of one-stat goons. its been awful and amazing
I'm Brazilian 🇧🇷 , I don't understand English very well, but I've already marathoned several of your videos, your content is incredible
I've recently just been binge watching all your other runs, so happy that a new one came out! ❤
This game is mind blowingly good and im glad this guy takes it to the next level and even still plays it. He shows what can be done and things like that and that it can be a lasting journey to have fun with.
Man you make dodging waterfowl look sooooo easy. I had to just tank that with the shield. Hunter's editing is amazing too. GG
Gino has SO much patience. Idk how he does it. All I play is FromSoftware games so I understand the frustration and difficulty. This man is a saint.
Sounds like a cringe way to play
I love your videos. There have been times where your mental health message has pulled me from the brink but also times like right now where I'm feeling great. But the contrast of the two situations really helps to put things in perspective and it genuinely helps every time I hear it.
1:33:50 i think any enemy that spawns without a boss health bar can have golden eyes, i had the gargoyle on the way up to the capital with golden eyes, and i think its because i doesnt have an on screen health bar like the others
Elden Ring: "oh no no no, you can't just jump from that cliff, even if you used your magic horse double jump to break the fall! That's too high >:("
Also, Elden Ring: 15:15
Lets gooo, another 3h of finest entertainment! Keep it up :)
Great runs indeed, you always try a lot of different things. Big fan of the editing in your videos, very clean and 'simple' , and pleasant to watch.
Does anyone know of good resources for people getting into challenge runs like this? Like pathing, where to find stones and runes early, and what buffs are available early? Ideally something that I could read during slow moments at work.
These videos are great! Just found the channel and got me excited all over again for Elden Ring!
I have the same problem. It's just too damn big of a game and i feel like i can only do cool builds by spending hours pouring over the wiki
My favorite part of these runs is hearing Gino's thought process for when to use what attack in a boss's moveset.
Faith users after investing points into the best stat in the game:🗿
Joshua graham run
Haha super cool run and nice to see almost all the incantations used. I was waiting for you to try Elden Stars though! That homing & continuous attack helped me on my 1st playthrough a lot :) And I never knew Burn O Flame! was so busted o.O
i dont know why anyone at all likes the rykard fight. the spectacle is cool but everything mechanically about the fight is boring at best
Very. Even if you tried to not use the serpent hunter it would still be boring. BUT…
You can’t deny how geeked out you were at the sheer hell and unnerving nature you felt from his cutscene when you walked into that boss room. Made the first playthrough just that much better
the spectacle.
@@jordankaltenbach5295long rant but I wholeheartedly agree 👍🏻
@@jordankaltenbach5295 no doubt, the first experience was memorable, but its just never a fight I look forward to on further play-throughs
Boring if you use the serpent hunter yeah, pretty cool if you use literally anything else
I played the “Slayer Build” in Goblin Caves and had a lot of fun. You can use the lantern in offhand to proc the duel wield buffs, for a lower movement speed penalty.
Don’t worry, I have *faith* in you.
Just remain calm, breathe and remain *faithful* to your duty
Anyways, enjoy the run
Yours *faithfully*
The pun master
You have a way with words sir
there are ants under your skin rip it off rip it off rip it off
Watching this run was a blast. Had a good laugh at many parts of the video :D shout out to the editor
Pest threads has always been such an underrated incantation. Even on PvP is amazing to distract enemies and if it hits it deals good damage
Without a doubt one of the most underrated incants is pest threads. I think I'm the only person I've actually seen use it in game. Thing especially melts big bosses. Took out elden beast so fast my jaw dropped
Would be too strong for a challenge run i guess. He didn’t stack buffs and 1 hit every boss when he could.
@@HunterYangBird I wouldn't take it that far. While it was super effective against elden beast and astel most stuff isn't really that big and u gotta be pretty close for it to hit. It's still not anywhere near as good as giants flame take thee and a lot of other spells. It's just underrated and is good in the right situations
Ds3 anri straight sword is special in the fact it primarily scales with luck and is intrinsically blessed
I have never watched any Elden ring videos before and I started watching yours when I start to play game and you make it look so easy while I struggle on the “easy” bosses but man I am hooked on your videos and have gone back and watched mostly all of them I really enjoy the game just now and my viewers all like it as a die a lot and rage and they laugh 😂 keep up the cool videos idea my friend they are very unique and cool 😊
The editing as well as your commentary makes me engaged the entire video!
As always absolutely stellar work on all fronts, props to Hunter too.
As per usual this will require at least a second viewing 🤘 ❤
I’m new to these kinds of games.
Your movement at 6:29 is INSANE 🤯
The editing was peak this video! Keep up the great work!
i like how in the chapters on this video the whole second half the video is just godskin duo
35:30 killing dragons and the wildlife tries to take you out😂
Secrect facts: - Gino is a true believer and thats why his dmg good
Screaming everytime you don’t charge Lightning Spear oh my God
Frenized Burst is so slept on man. You get Blasphemous blade and Burst and just become elden lord
gino you are awsome.
It has become part of my daily routine to watch your videos before going to sleep. It is very enjoyable and fun for me
Great run! Awesome to see all the incantations and their effectiveness.
“Who puts a sword in the ground on a stone area” …. Merlin: 😊
i love it. i realy struglt with the Hero of Zamor and you just burned him :D
Is the little on-screen checklist a new addition to the Post-Editing?
I really like it!
I am impressed by how much trivial things Gino has never seen ingame
The content just keep getting better, and i dont even know how it can be posible
“What were they thinking?”
They were thinking youd try out the spear made specifically for the encounter that is found right when you enter arena not a faith only challenge run 😅
Ah, Frozen Lightning Spear - the perfect gift for a boss that has 80% lightning resist.
The goat hitting Gino during the lansseax fight was soooo funny 😂😂😂
rykard killing from beyond the grave for talking shit is incredible
Took me a couple days to watch the whole thing but awesome vid. Loved how you kept changing up spells for different areas and what not.
