    I’m glad that some YT’rs are doing these beginners videos. With the influx of new owners its a great service. I think we who are old shooters, veterans and hunters forget that someone taught us. For those who didn’t have that, this is a great benefit.

    You posted this 2yrs ago. You have almost 2 million views and are personally responding to viewers, STILL. No YT gun channel does that!! Earned my respect. I had to add you for that alone. I have been watching your productions for about a year now. Also, thank for you nature shots of Southern Nevada. I lived in Vegas in the early 90’s before Vegas had 1 million people. We NEVER went to the strip. We explored Mt Charleston and Running Springs on through Pahrump. It is where I first learned to shoot. People don’t believe me when I tell them how beautiful Nevada is in the spring. I’ll keep watching.

    Been shooting a Mossberg for 46 years now, where the hell did the time go. My grandson just got his Maverick last year for duck hunting. He’s starting out much sooner than I did, he’s 9 years old and every time he pulls the trigger it makes me smile.

I always feel a lot more confident having really clear information before trying something new, and your videos are clear and friendly. And you guys blow stuff up -- fun -- but you don't overdo the macho stuff. I'm excited now to try the shotgun

    Another really good video. We must be close to the same age. I got my 1st rifle when I was 7 In '71 and my shotgun when I was 11. One of Dad's friends had bought his wife a brand new H&R 410 single barrel. She fired 2 shells through it and quickly decided it wasn't for her. I still remember going to their house that evening. They were an older couple. They had a real nice house and were just good people. The old man handed me the gun after we all sat down in their living room. It was in mint condition. Dad said "Do you want it?". He done knew the answer lol ! I wouldn't let go of it ! The old man handed dad a box of shells- with only 2 missing. He had already told Dad he would take$25 for the gun and shells. Dad handed him the $ and they shook hands. Then the old guy shook my hand and told me to enjoy the gun and to be careful. Then, he handed me a 1921 Morgan silver dollar. The next day, Dad drove me out in the country, on an old dirt road close to where he was raised. I was riding in the back seat with my new gun and shells. Dad suddenly stopped the car and hollered "See that black bird? Shoot him!". He just hated them. I leaned out the opened window and tried to hold the gun like Dad had shown me the night before.But it wasn't easy sitting in the car,hanging out the window. And dad was hollering for me to shoot. That black bird was sitting just off the edge of that road, only a few feet from me. I was in a hurry and quickly dropped the hammer on that bird with the front BB sight on him. BOOM !!! The bird vanished into almost nothing. I had made a direct hit ! But I had also fired that 410 with the wrong hold. Darn thing busted my nose and mouth ! We both got out to check on the bird.As we did that, Dad was laughing his butt off. Well, The bird was real dead. Nothing left but some feathers scattered everywhere. Dad looked at me and said "Good job! Are you ok?". "Sure" I said, although I wasn't really sure. That dang gun thumped much harder than my 22 rifle. Dad just laughed again and said " load it up and shoot it again. Shoot those cans there in the ditch". I was leary, but I reloaded. This time, I could hold it much better. I shot acouple of those cans. And this time, it didn't kick my butt ! On the way home, we stopped at the gas station . Dad told me to get a cake and a drink. I still had some blood on my face. Dad was bragging to everyone in there on how I had taken out that bird with my 1st shot and how,even all bloody, I reloaded and fired some more. He sure was proud of me! The owner of the gas station just gave me the drink and cake I had picked out. He said it was free that morning,to me, for doing such a great and brave job. l wore that blood like a badge of honor most of the day, until Mom finally made me wash it off. I've still got that ole gun. Sits in my bedroom. I ended up taking squirrel,rabbit and duck with that gun. And I've never let it whip me again. And I've still got that silver dollar. After acouple of years I moved up to 20"s and 12's. But I still used that 410 sometimes. I haven't fired that gun in several years. All this talking about it kinda makes me want to load it up and fire a few rounds. I've got 3 boxes of shells put back for it.
    And your 590 brings back some memories too. I had 2 at the same time several years back. One blued- one parkerized. Had green military slings and M-16 bayonets on them. But like I've told you in other videos, I had a bad case of trading fever back in those days. I did recently replace them with 2 Maverick 88"s. One with the 18.5 barrel and one with the 28 inch vent rib barrel with screw in chokes It came with a modified. I just picked up 2 more for it. An IC and an extra full. That will make it very versatile. I got the Carlson stainless steel one's. They have a good reputation and were priced right. I didn't aim to rant this long, but your videos sure bring back alot of memories to me. Thanks again for the Great vids. And thank you for all the time and effort you put into doing this. @@mixup98 I have one quick question for you. The only readily available shotgun I was able to find in California was a 12 gauge pump action Akkar churchill. No one knows much about them other than they are supposed to be very similar to a Remington 870, which is what I originally wanted. Do you have any feedback on this Akkar brand? It's my first shotgun by the way...

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevincirba9247 I haven't handled or shot an Akkar shotgun and I really don't know anything about them so I really can't give an honest opinion. I can tell you that the Akkar shotgun is made in Turkey and every Turkish shotgun I have owned or shot (at least 5 of them) have all been very well made and extremely reliable. I would love to get my hands on an Akkar pump shotgun and do a review on it. I'm guessing because it is a copy of the Remington 870 that is is probably a pretty good shotgun.

    I'm 14 years old and have been into guns for 2 years now. The first gun I've shot (all of them are my grandfather's), was a 22 Caliber rifle. It was nice because it wasn't too intimidating and didn't kick much. I later shot my first shotgun. It was a 20 gauge double barrel. I ended up holding it incorrectly and hurt my arm. for about a year I would only shoot the 22, in fear of hurting myself again. Later I shot a 16 gauge pump and didn't hurt myself as badly, but still held it incorrectly. Recently, I went out to the desert with my grandpa to shoot again, and I shot the 22 first, and then did the 20 gauge after. I am stronger now than when I was 12, and I did hold the 20 gauge correctly and had a lot of fun. I now want to try the 16 gauge again and maybe his 12 gauge. This video was very helpful and gave me some confidence. Thanks!

I don't feel like an idiot since it's all women. Lol. You might want to look online to see if there's a chapter in your area, or even another group for women. Best of luck and stay safe!
