I am 50 and been wanting to be my own boss for 30 years. Finally doing it. But now I have the experience in all facets of business to crush it. I am excited, but a little nervous but its time to push my boat away from the safe harbor.
I hated my job so i fired myself. I kept the job but only kept what unemployment would pay me and banked the rest. It hurt to have so little money. Soon i figured it out cutting expenses and living different. After 2 years i had banked enough to really quit and start a business. Now im making 4x what i was being paid at my job. Best move i ever made.
Thank you Codie for the great advice. I’m a college student, I work part time, and I have my own clothing line that I started last October. I’m not going to give up I’m going to keep going, but my career path is to become an actor, model, and stuntman.
As a newbie that wants to invest, you must have these three things in mind 1. Have a long term mindset. 2. Be willing to take risk. 3. Be careful on money usage, if you're not spending to earn back, then stop spending. 4. Never claim to know - Ask questions and it's best you work with a financial advisor.
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Maria Davis) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her 😊 from Brisbane Australia🇦🇺
codie ur method worked! im a real estate agent as a side hustle and i texted all my friends (ive only got 6) if they're interested to buy a property from me. 2 of them said yes!!! i cannot believe this power of simply asking❤ thank you so much!!!!
Codie I love that you are giving this advice! I started a business that I worked during the day and worked nights at my full time job. It started because I needed to make more money and no one would hire me and the only option was to work for myself. I ended up quitting my job and working full time at my business which freed up time to add more side hustles. I then bought another bus which didn’t work out but was able to sell for more than I bought it for so I broke even. I had my life turned upside down and closed my business just at the point where I was really starting to grow. (I know stupid) I lost all confidence, moved away, tried 9-5 jobs and working my way up. I was miserable! I got married and am finally at a point where I feel like I can start again. Thank you for the motivation!
No fluff, just truth bombs and motivation! I call this walking into the dream with your eyes open. There's challenges but if you want to move forward at a rapid pace you probably have to work at it like you never had before, I love the part about mediocrity and multitasking, it took me 20 years to figure that one out on my own... Worth every second !
"2 hours of dedicated work is worth more than most peoples 8 hours". I have just placed an order of 6 stickers with these words because this advice is so profound yet simple but has made me achieve so much in the last two years when i stumbled on the deep work concept.
Really very solid, pragmatic advice. My only quibble is the part about not quitting the W-2 job until your 'side hustle' can pay all the bills...this sounds great in theory but in practice, most people will just get distracted and never reach that point and stay in their comfy W-2 job forever. What finally worked for me was having "NO PLAN B". Nothing focuses the mind like walking a tight-rope without a safety net.
I agree. The problem is, if you’re have responsibilities outside of yourself, you may be impacting them. If it’s just you and you can sleep on the folks couch for a bit while you grow, go for it! What’s the business btw?

I just found your podcast on Instagram sponsored! I’m so excited bc this is the kind of advice I’ve been searching for! Thank you for providing so much value! 🙌🏼
The only Woman who inspires me the most is you, Codie! Definitely a Great content & not everyone in this World takes this much effort to improve People's life with actual practical realistic thoughts.
I felt the last segment. When I was in residential construction for over a decade, I saw many "owners" who just didn't do well with authority. They were babies that couldn't take criticism and wouldn't listen. "Unhireable," so to say. And, my wife is an accountant 😂
I am so glad I found this channel. I don't even know how it landed on my feed but thank God! This video and the thoughts in it are gold! Thank you so much and I am more excited than ever to start my own business. God bless you.
Just call and ask if they are interested your product. In all the side hustles it has been warm up the prospect create a lead magnet etc. have often wondered why. After watching this is seems to me to be easier to just and and less painfull.
This almost seems like an outdated idea since things are changing so quickly. Sure, the typical 9 to 5 is not what most people prefer, but nowadays having the right one may actually be better than trying to grind away at this "start your own business" mantra. The business world is quite saturated and there are a lot of false promises. No job is safe and there are a lot of shifts happening, but maybe finding something secure and not flashy is becoming the new way to go. Cheers.
Let me add, if that’s how someone feels, nothing wrong with that whatsoever. There are a lot of great 9-5 jobs out there if that’s the model that works best for you. Just make sure that is YOUR decision and you aren’t just letting fear and self-doubt or someone on the internet tell you other people can have it a certain way, but not you.. THAT’S crap. Be aware of the difference and make your choices consciously.☝️
That’s true, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows either way. Some people would actually prefer the regular salary and being told what to do. They’re task oriented and thrive in that environment. Other people need the creativity, the challenge, the wins and losses to be engaged with life. For me personally, a 9-5 job feels like prison to me (I did it for 10 years). I’d rather make way less money, work more and call my own shots than live at a desk. People may think I’m crazy, I think they’re crazy, maybe we’re both right. 🙂
Team, work hard find extra jobs save and build your dream! I’ve been working 2 to 3 jobs 100 hours a week for 7 years in Seattle, while my team is building my house and my Beach hotel in the Philippines! Go for it! Also just watched Game Of Thrones last night and saw that part in this clip so that’s funny! Codie is a Machine! Lets Go!!!

Been whining like a fkn little princess about wanting ro quit my job...that pays me well with great conditions. So pull the head in and do the xtra work to get the results. Im smart and can work hard ive been resisting sacrificing after work time cos im loaded like a donkey it seems (need to say no more) and now its time. Thanks for the punch between the eyes x
Fantastic video!!! Thank you for the information and the insight into these things. I sent the video to my sons because they have been talking about starting side hustles. I just subscribed to this channel!!
Nice! I heard Codie rephrase one of my truisms: multi-tasking is non-tasking. I'm following some of your other advice about growing business volume through referrals and revenue through productizing. I'll keep coming back for more.
I think the biggest caveat that Codie's videos all seem to suffer from is that they all very obviously cater to younger people. I understand that she has to have a certain critical mass of impressionable minds in order to maintain a relevant online presence but there's a very hard reality that is missing from most of this content, older people want financial independence too.
I know what you are saying but I'd like to point out that that take comes from limitations we place on ourselves because of our more established habits, and also insecurities we have because we have more to risk/lose.
I kinda just got pushed off the cliff last year due to a layoff but I've weirdly made great money with Uber instead. Ironically I used to be a Big 4 accountant and I'm still way happier now

@@riselikeaneagle I didn't take over my business, I started it from the ground up. I'd say the biggest problem I've had over the years is scaling. Most find it hard, if not impossible, to work a full-time gig and a side hustle on evenings and weekends but there is no other way… The roofing led to remodels, then to new construction. This then led to picking up SFR’s and smaller IP’s. Initially in my home of Texas. And now out-of-state as well. The hobby is the side hustle. It’s fun and ultimately it’ll prove the prime endeavor. Many thx for your consistency, constant positivity, and small business hustle wisdom. 🙏 😊
I've been having a hard time trying to create a schedule. I work from home from 830-5 then I a realtor, my 9-5 takes up so much of my time by the time I get off its time to take care of my family. I'm actually thinking of giving up real estate even though it's been my dream since I was 14 because I literally don't have the time.
Real estate is a marketing game. Plain and simple. Figure out an inexpensive way to market yourself, then just let it bring people in. Best way is to use social media and to make some fun, friendly, informative videos online. Post on local groups about real estate data, then plug your real estate service at the bottom. Try teaming up with some loan officers.

The roofing led to remodels, then to new construction.
😊
Great video! I love your energy
I done this over and over again.
Great video. Very insightful Website for job listing does not connect
Business not side hustle. I like that!
