Eivor is a dream from the Faroeislands. I'v listen to her since 2003. Brilliant singer..and a very nice down to earh human. Thank you for reacting to this amazing artist. Check out "Trollabundin" live from Norway.
There are only 3 vocalists I can think of that can so successfully produce such haunting soundscapes - Eivor ( Faeroese ) - Aurora ( Norwegian ) & Anneke van Geirsbergen ( Dutch ) - all three have the ability to draw you in and envelope you with their voices .
No, when you have heard several songs from Eivør and heard her voice through all seasons of the series The Last Kingdom on Netflix, you clearly hear that Eivør is on a completely different, higher level than Aurora. Aurora is more of a pop singer with a good and sweet voice. Eivør is unique with a fantastic voice on a completely different level.
Eivør doesn't just sing the theme song in The Last Kingdom on Netflix. Eivør sings in all the seasons and in all the parts of The Last Kingdom and she also has a small role in one part. In The Last Kingdom, Eivør sings in her national language Faroese throughout the series and also in the film, which is the best preserved Viking language in the world. Faroese is the national language of the Faroe Islands and the first language of Eivør. She often sings and performs in Faroese and Trøllabundin is in Faroese.
Haven't heard this artist before. Wow! Thank you for sharing this. To me , her voice is as sharp as a cold winter wind and as clear as a cool mountain stream. She is definitely on my playlist now. Thank you again for sharing her...

Great to see the wonderfully talented Eivor make it to your channel! 👍😍🤟 Next up for incredible female vocals from the region should be Kalandra (Katrine Stenbekk), "Brave New World" at Kulturkirken Jakob. And don't forget about the lovely Aurora. 😊

3:07 The only way to listen to this song: eyes closed, headphones on, volume on just enough to not harm your ears, laying down and just let go..... That build up, mmm.... And when the percussion kicks in, every time teary eyes... 6:38 "Climbing into the clouds", love it...
Beyond deliciously beautiful, i absolutely loveeeeee that type of dreamy music and singing absolutely ❤️🔥 true, about the building, like her lover caught her in mid-air and with wings of love they flew to a place over the rainbow 🌈 I just immediately put it on my play list, I smile brightly 🌞
Eivor ( 'I-Vor' ) Palsdottir is from the Faroe Islands........she is a diva.......as noted in the comments, you should listen to any version of her performing "Trollabundin", which means 'Spellbound' ( or Trodlabundin ), many versions on TH-cam ---- she sings in Faroese and plays a 'tribal' drum....it is ancient and mystical.......
That is one of the best live performances ever, epic. I'm glad you picked up some of the Pink Floyd elements in some of the earlier guitar work. I thought it might just be me.
Her guitar work is seriously overlooked, the inner chord movement while fingerpicking is marvelous plus she plays with such high gain that any mistake would just jump out of the mix and not be unnoticed. Phenomenal talent
Always beautiful to watch new people fall in love with her music and her magic. If I may, please react to “Wake me Up” live performance , she delivers another beautiful song that will make you feel everything .
Hello, Red 🙂 Thanks for checking it out. Eivør is an amazing singer, and I rank her VERY high up there among my favorite female singers. And this particular song is one of my all time favorites, regardless of artist/group. I just LOVE the build-up of it, and you also commented on it. I understand that it didn't have the same profound effect on you as it had on me the first time I heard it. It was actually my entry-song into her catalogue 🙂 And I have absolutely no idea how many times I listened to it the first month after my discovery😂 It's always SO nice when you find a new artist or band that can do that to you, right ? I think your Pink Floyd comparison is VERY valid for this performance, albeit I hadn't thought about it before you said it. Fresh ears and all that.... Enjoy the weekend 😊 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
she is a classically trained soprano and owns a masters degree in traditional nordic vocal techniques. whatever you pick - nothing but amazing. another phenomenal artist and performance is helen sjöholm, du maste finnas ( with english subtitles). i would say it's one of the best vocalists i have heard in five years. her singing is so intense, she is drawn into this emotional song and needs a moment after finishing to realize it.
Hi Red, thank you so much for this. Eivor has her own rabbit hole to go down, Wake me up ( live,) the drummer will put the biggest smile on your face. She sings the soundtrack to the Netflix show “ The Last Kingdom.”
I was happy to see you discover such a beautiful voice! I was blown away a long time ago when I heard Eivør for the first time... it was good to remember and listen again. If you allow me, I would like to recommend some of my favorites (from her TH-cam channel): Brotin: th-cam.com/video/26fB8JtSt_0/w-d-xo.html Verð Min: th-cam.com/video/4_FIwLoIHBY/w-d-xo.html Silvitni: th-cam.com/video/Wa7zAIn7sbw/w-d-xo.html TrueLove: th-cam.com/video/yJL39PFjMXM/w-d-xo.html Enjoy!
Really impressed with that. Very dreamy as you mentioned. I could see it as a theme song to one of those Scandinavian tv thrillers. Which is ironical as its mentioned below that she sings the theme song to The Last Kingdom which I've just been watching. I thought she sounded familiar!
Thanks for introducing me to this. My favorite songs are like this. I love emotion and passion and minor chording. You can feel it. This is the stuff I like to write. Just need the band to come along with me on a journey like this. Hard to make the drummer happy in a band with these kind of slow melodic beautiful songs. But the drums play such a role when they are slow and powerful like this. Feeling a little NUMB.
Hey I just wanted to say I love the dedication and tenacity you have. You put so much time and effort into growing your channel. You interact with everyone. You engage us, respond to us, I am just blown away by what you do and how you do it. Kudos to you and I wish you nothing less than the great success you deserve in your little corner of the interweb. You go girl!
Red you always come through for us every single day so Thank You so much.I have never been exposed to so many different sounds in my life. True and funny story my boys late 20s are now hooked on Small Town Titans and Red Clay Strays they did however ask OMG dad where did you hear thse LOL You have made me not such a 🟦 to my boys LOL #redheadedneighbor #Eivor #reaction #Redclaystrays #Smalltowntitans
For the english-speaking “ I were…” is pretty close. I was wondering earlier today if there were any new reaction to this song. Lo and behold, one of my favourite reactors came on screen:) I´ve seen and heard Eivør 3 times; once on her own, once with this band and once with The Danish Symphony Orchestra. Just magical - 2vølve-ish”:)
This song in particular I’ve noticed, and you are the first one I’ve seen mention it, reminds me of Pink Floyd’s album Division Bell. Her other songs are fantastic too, but different. As others have mentioned, the Trollabundin Live in Norway performance and the Last Kingdom are two great ones. She also does one with her sister that might take you further down the rabbit hole.
Eivor is wonderful with a huge catalog of original songs -- You must checkout her must check out Gullpunnen or a live of her song Salt she did at a factory if you enjoy drumming -- Love so many of her songs its hard to pick just a couple
Pronounced: "Eye Vore" YESSS!!!... Missed this one of my list. You MUST do "Eivør Pálsdóttir: Tròdlabùndin (Trøllabundin) - 10.08.13" at some point! Live in the Norwegian mountains. Quite different to this... Just her a small drum (Bodhran) and her voice!
Hey ........... I know how much you like Home Free.... well there is a female version of them called Citizen Queen and they do a cover of the great Roberta Flack's Killing me softly and they knock it out of the park. In my view they stand shoulder to shoulder with HF. You can thank me later.
I hadn't heard this artist before. At first, I wasn't overly impressed. I think the exaggerated breathy sound is so overdone these days (my opinion). Agree. Trollabunden is an absolute must! You’ll be astounded by what she can do with her voice.

Kate Bush and Tori Amos, come on man.
Lisa Gerrard is still my number 1.
Diana Ankudinova is also exquisite in her tone and talent and flexibility....stunning
Floor Jansen 😊
if you ever watched "The Last Kingdom" .. Eivor sings the theme song

Wow! From her first note I was pulled in and focused. Once the buildup started, I could not help but to hold on for the ride. What an artist!
