I worked in Berklee School of Music admissions office when Aimee was there and used to see her when she worked at the Newbury Comics. She was literally the hottest woman I had ever seen. And still is!
She's my favorite songwriter of all time. And almost all of her songs are in my massive playlist. She can write a song about anything, and keep the rhymes sounding relevant and natural.
I was introduced to her music by a girlfriend in 1988 and became an instant fan. She came to the UK in 1994 and I saw her at The Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. At one stage she launched into a song and then stopped saying 'F,,,it I've forgotten the lyrics.' The audience loved it because it was so honest and spontaneous. She recovered herself (with a few self deprecating comments) and carried on A highly talented and different artist who doesn't compromise on her ethics or beliefs.
If you like Aimee Mann and Til Tuesday check out the original version of Voices Carry with very different lyrics than the label approved ones that went on the album. m.th-cam.com/video/dTz4JjHnphE/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUddGlsIHR1ZXNkYXkgdm9pY2VzIGNhcnJ5IDE5ODQ%3D
I disagree. It is meant for music students and college bands passing through. If you understand that you will always be off broadway in Boston you will take it for what its worth, and then do what everyone else does: move to NYC or LA and discover you are now a very tiny fish in a pond full of the same tiny fish you are.
Voices Carry will always be one of all time favorites.

The 80s music was the best and she was definitely at the top. Still love her.
A brilliant artist. Love her work.
When you have “ disagreements “ with your record label, you are probably way too good of an artist…..
here is a perfect example. ❤
