@@vanguardphotouk_1986 Feels super solid and versatile. Beautiful machined parts! Can support my GFX camera and lenses with ease. And still lightweight.
Great, thanks for the review. I bought one and am a beginner to photography, but I have one gripe about it unless you can inform me of my error. The top of the ph38 head where the camera mounts (I'm using a Nikon D750). The knurled knob to unlock the camera sits directly below the battery compartment. Yes i can mount it the other way, but then the levelling bubble is out of view under the lens. Also the knob is so close to the camera, it's a little awkward to grip in order to unlock. Any suggestions please. Thankyou
Hi Arnie T As heads get smaller, finding somewhere to put the levelling bubble gets harder. We do find more and more cameras have level indicators which are making this feature redundant, and I believe that the Nikon D750 has this feature. The only other suggestion is to get a spirit level for your camera flash mount, such as this - www.wexphotovideo.com/kaiser-k6385-spirit-level-with-accessory-shoe-1006116/. Maybe other viewers can make suggestions. On the quick release plate knob, it is a challenge with making a tripod Arca compatible which is rapidly becoming an industry standard. It has a number of benefits (such as being able to use other brands plates, especially specialist plates like L-brackets), but the clamp system is not as easy to use as some of the older quick release systems that were dedicated to specific models. Any video head recommendations for the tripod ?
We have the Alta PH-114V ( www.vanguardworld.co.uk/products/alta-ph-114v ) which can fit, but any video head from any brand will fit.
We'd now recommend the VEO PV-18. This is CNC machined for the smoothest movement, has a 15kg load capacity and is Arca compatible.
