This is how Astarion ends as Lord Vampire: he has a choice how to live his new life. You can choose neutral options like rule from shadows/travel Faerun or evil options. In game you can choose ONLY ONE path.

Please,answer my question, what will happen if you choose Astarion as the main character, make him Ascended Vampire and romance (Lae'Zel, Shadoweart), will the epilogue be different, will there be a final scene with them, because I know if you start an romance with Karlach being Astarion, you can go to Avernus with her, but I don't know if there will be any scene with Shadowheart and Lae'Zel at the end of the game,if you have a romantic relationship with them???

@krisn170 I'm not sure about this because for example if you play Gale as the main character and start a romantic relationship with someone, then in the end Gale leave to Mystra and ignores your romantic interest, for example, if you being Gale in a relationship with Karlach, then Gale completely ignores her and she explodes, you can't go to Avernus with her and Gale calmly leave to Mystra, as if he never had a romantic relationship with Karlach.

2: You can still be the "good guy" non ascendant and kill those 7k "people"
3: Releasing 7k - staving, rabid, insane vampire spawn into the world would create so much chaos and death, that it would be more evil than just killing them and releasing their souls back to the gods they were from. 7k vampire spawn who are starving and never learned to curb their hunger would do more damage than an army of 100k well trained soldiers out for blood.

@@FranWest. I think ppl keep forgetting you arent jjst "killing" those spawn. Yes, theyre already dead. You are sending their eternal souls to Mephistopheles to be used as either currency, food, or resources for a hell war. A fate much, much worse than death.
Rather than moving on to the next plane with their chosen God, being reborn, or just ceasing to be, they are suffering in hell in eternal damnation like brooo 😅
@@FranWest.eh this fits lore better. In dnd vampires are ALWAYS evil. It’s not a choice they make, it’s something that happens upon their transformation.
An ascended vampire would get turned up to 100 on the evil alignment. Once again, not a choice, it’s just what happens.
that last choice seems like...chaotic Neutral ill consider that good enough.
Am I the only one that - despite hating how the ritual changed him - thinks that this is at least satisfying ending. Unlike the other one in the sewer.
I 100% préféré ascended Astrarion, I personally didn’t like making him “a good guy“ I feel like both ending has him be on opposite side of the evil to good spectrum and I kinda that liked him as a neural evil character. It fits him and im not a fan of the idea of him being a spawn forever. At least Ascended vampires have a lot of the lost pleasure of mortals including food and having his libido back. Astarion not liking being intimate really made the spawn ending very stuck in enteral unhappiness. The worst part of being a vampire
@@krisn170 100% its the canon ending for me and the fact that the devs made such a better romance scene for the “evil but good ending“ to me I just feel like this was who he was always meant to be. Can’t wait to rule Baldur’s Gate at his side. Bringing a new definition to the words power couple 😂
@@Alonepistachio Sorry to break it for you but spawn Astarion is still kind of dick and definately chaotic neutral. Ascendend dick only looks better in his playthrough which gives the ilussion of choice. My issue is that Larian did not realize that issue. Besides the beautiful romance, all his other versions of spawn ending are less appealing than this.

Thank you for posting!! I havent been able to let myself sacrifice 7000 souls (even tho i know they are pixel people). The game makes it clear that power corrupts anyone and he will grow to be paranoid, abusive, and alone over his immortal life. He can walk in the sun at a cost. What if it had been another one of his siblings on the nautolid and they ascended killing astarion? Can i live with continuing the cycle of abuse?why am i taking a video game this seriously? They arent real people. Both decisions are hard, but as soon as i do an evil run ill do it. Bc the "evil" endings are really well written too and i want to see them all.
Aside from 3 the options don't have to be necessarily evil, he can be a sympatetic kingpin like Ninefingers, treating his spawns with much more kindness or just be an philanthropic hedonist
I honestly doubt that seeing as absolute power corrupts absolutely and Astarion wields much more power than Cazador ever had (or any vampire for that matter). You're basically looking at Cazador's mirror seeing as Cazador had similar beginnings to Astarion (got turned into a spawn, tortured relentlessly and cruelly until they usurp their master's place as a new vampire lord)
they said he changed when he ascneded, so dont think so
Epilogue config that it's not the case, he is CazadorV2 except he holds much more power.

How do you get this ending cutscene?? I just completed my own astarion campaign and I never got this cutscene. If you romance someone, does the romance epilogue replace the origin ending cutscene?

This feels like the good ending for him 😂 It’s interesting to see that changing his alignment to good gives him such a terrible fate but here he’s just astarion being astarion.

@@krisn170 Omg im glad someone agrees 😂 can’t tell you how many people literally jumped down my throat for saying I prefer him this way then the spawn way. Literally a bunch of people saying I like abuse??? It’s like they don’t understand that what makes for a good story doesn’t make for a good experience in life. If you imagine your perfect life, you know it would be boring to read if it was a book but awesome to live it.
@@Alonepistachio Yes!! Tivuel and I are tired of fighting over this too... I don't care if I read too much between the lines 😅 Same could be said about all these people that argue for the spawn ending. They keep saying "in DnD lore vamps are twisted" or "this is a deal with the devil and he lost his soul". This is very much reading between the lines to me too! Because in the game itself there is no confirmation that either of those things would happen, and vampire ascendant is not in any official DnD lore, it's a one-off. So we really don't know.
Ok, I agree, maybe this isn't the best outcome for Tav (turning into his spawn and all) - but, as far as I am concerned, this ending is the happiest for *Astarion*, and I'll die on that hill! He has lines as ascendant saying this is finally "true freedom" for him (much like in the spawn version) - AND he also regains the ability to walk under the sun (which he loves so much) and be alive, essentially! If we don't pick an option of him killing his companions or making an army of new slaves (which I see as kind of alternate realities separate from each other 😅) - how is this ending even bad??
Also, have you seen his origin (unromanced) ending as spawn? He is shown as looming over a tied up person in some dark cave, about to eat them. How can people argue anything about him being "a better person" when spawn?? He literally remains the same chaotic neutral/evil guy he always was.
@@krisn170 omg everytime they come out with the DnD lore argument I tell them that according to the lore they are simply wrong. In DnD even spawn aren’t capable of love, they are supposed to be obsessed with vengeance. And as I also mention like you did, Astrarion is a new variation of vampires, one that isn’t in dnd lore. Raphael mention that ascending brings back a lot of the lost pleasure of mortal life. He mentioned the sun of course, being able to eat and drink food again, having his libido back and much more. As a spawn he still doesn’t enjoy being intimate and I think the drow twins scene really confirmed that for me.
I think people are just mad at the power dynamics because they are looking at it from a real life point of view. They all think oh hes gonna leave you or start abusing you but I dont see it like that. In my mind Tav is who ever you want them to be, so if she is a soft flower who let’s astarion do whatever he wants then sure i can see how you might think that way. But I role play my MC as a strong and powerful person who wouldn’t let astarion get away with treating them badly. If my Tav can defeat a nether brain while infected then there’s not reason in my mind why she couldn’t resist his vampire command. And in my mind that not something he would do on a whim, when you have the incubus scene he tells you he hates seeing your body be controlled, he understand how it feels so I just don’t believe that he would suddenly start treating you like Cazador did him.

Also in the drow scene - even after he ascends we can see he still has his trauma, so even in this "evil" ending (as they say) he still pretty much remains the same person in need of a lot of work! But at least as an ascendant he doesn't have to worry about the hunger or fear of sun or fear of loneliness anymore! He's a powerful and fulfilled being and can focus on whatever the heck he wants to 😆
This character truly breaks my heart. I really wanted to know if the ascended one ( my fav ) loves Tav or if it was all a lie...Probably never have a proper answer. It's killing me. 😢

He basically confirms it was a lie and that he doesn't believe in love (as the ascendant) if you break up with him and talk again later. He even tells you that he respects you more for not falling for it, which confirms the inside check if you do let him bite you.... 😭😡
@@Juredy Thanks for your answer. I've seen this lines and I'm waiting to go further, trying to have a "soft break up" and unlock another final scene, and...idk...probably hoping for his excuses. Astarion is very hard to read through even et specially when he seems to be sincere. ( Sorry for my poor english, It's not my native language.)
If you broke up with him he told it because he is angry. So I’m not sure that this is still truth. I think it’s an open ending and the player the one who can make their own interpretations. Internet full of spawnending fans who will tell you many arguments against AscEnding, but only you the one who decide his fate and fate of Tav ❤
@@olesyativuel he tells you he respects you and wants to work together because he's angry? And those are not the only two lines, it's quite consistent.
I really wanted to like the ascension ending and have my Tav and him be an evil power couple, but the writers are quite explicit how he will only see you as competitor or fully controlled property after ascension. :(
I agree making up your own alternate ending after spending some 90h with the characters is valid, and I'm quite annoyed at the finger wagging from both the game and the fanbase about the evil playthroughs. But let's just be honest about ignoring the parts of the official endings we don't like, shall we?
@@Juredy She was probably talking about the famous scene I don't manage to trigger : When he brags about his despise of "Love" for knowing it "too well" and "playing with the hand he knows".
I'm quite agree about the conclusion of an expression of bitterness and anger to see you break free. A low-blow but well : It's still a rogue.
And this scene gives me the vision of an immature child pissed because he suddenly realize that Tav leaving him is a painful unexpected boundary of his fresh over-powerfullness.
You are leaving him with is one of his greatest fear, and...Well, he fights back the only way he knows.
Honestly, irl I have heard far more nonsense from a dismissed lover.
When he proposes a "sorta keep- in- touch", it could serves multiple purposes. That does not mean he's not mad anymore, but smart enough to take back things under control :
You still can read it as you want :
- He knows you might be a powerful ally.
- He wants to keep and eye on a potential ennemy.
- He never gives up the idea of turning you later into a spawn
- He never gives up the idea of "Us". Even if it takes time....He is not exactly in a rush...He can plan. He has to. He has to reconsider his options and he obviously can't do that without you around.
- This poor boy, ascend or not is madly in love and can't bear to not see your face again.
You can pick one, or all of them. For me, it's still a valuable Astarion way of thinking, ascended or not.
To the Ascended Astarion haters: The entire time you've known Astarion his life has been about drama, fun, lies, shenanigans and debauchery. There's a good soul in there, but there's also an irremovable desire to cause trouble, commit crime, and poke the bear. Becoming 'Ascended' gives him more tools to stir more chaos, while turning his back on the person he could be if he wanted so much to co-exist with others. It isn't birthing a new person, it's empowering the charlatan he has always been. It's protecting him from ever being too weak to stand against oppression, by becoming that which oppresses.
Each ending is a success story for Astarion. Being upset that you feel he's colder to your Tav might be a shame for you, but Astarion in either ending exists with or without you, and it's so satisfying to see him excel as someone who overcame their trauma and broke the cycle (good aligned), or as someone who dominated their jailers and masters, only to become better at it than any who dared to enslave them, thus saving themselves from a life of misery until the end of time itself. (evil aligned)
Man, I adore the writing of these characters. Both versions of Astarion are capable of so much, and that includes both good and evil acts. There's so much to love. Bravo :D
Is this because you had no romance? My own ascended Astarion got a scene with Minthara, where he asked if she wanted to go to her home in Menzoberranzan with him, and she was definitely interested, wanting to lead an army of Steel Watchers and install Astarion as a beautiful King, while also mentioning that since her mother is head of House Baenre, Minthara will take Astarion's last name for 'our dynasty', basically confirming that this will be an engagement/wedding present.

Yeah idk how to get the character specific origin endings. I played as a origin Astarion and just got a normal romance ending with karlach

Astarion is a vampire - a nobleman - a charlatan, as a nobleman and a vampire - gnomes in the forge, devils in the grove, the Gur tribe treats them as servants, serfs. He will not get his hands dirty to help them, because they are not equal to him, they exist to serve him, they have no importance. Astarion Ascendant behaves like a great lord from the 16th century, an aristocrat, and treats Tav that way - look at historical films, how the king talks to the queen - every conversation is an audience. The Astarion-Karlach romance is a misalliance and misunderstanding, he has his own standards. this affair should be impossible. He always wants to be a vampire lord. He says to Tav - I don't know who you are to me - when he has a low status - he has no wealth, he is pursued by his siblings, he is weak and threatened. Once he kills Cazador and takes his power, the palace (and everything else) can decide who Tav will be to him. The ruler is not denied. For me, the foundation of his personality is the desire for freedom, combined with it is bravado and unbridled fantasy. Freedom is freedom from moral norms and commands. He is like Don Giovani, in the name of his freedom and bravado, he will go to hell (what was his deal with Cazador?!). He is a nobleman - an anarchist, everyone is to serve him, he will not serve anyone. Love - it is pleasant, but it is power, authority and money that gives freedom. He wants to be able to do everything! that doesn't mean he will be morally bad. he is not a sadist. He says trust me, I won't do anything bad to you. I can do everything - I don't have to do anything. Sexual trauma - this is not the axis of his character. He wants Tav because he is very intelligent and knows that Tav can be useful, but he wants her as a wife for a prince - with him, he must loyally build his power, his dominion. She is supposed to help and support him in this. This is the duty of a duchess or queen. Tav is worthy of it - together they defeated 3 gods, Absolut and Raphael. He won't do it again with anyone. He is a charlatan - he pursues his goal using absolutely all available means, I think he is honest only at the end when, as a great lord, he wants to reward Tav - because that is what his aristocratic ethos tells him to do. Tav will be allowed to love and admire him because it is a pleasant feeling (why should he give up this pleasure? love is a game for the nobility, not the commoners) and this will make her so obedient. Astarion always believed that no one was equal to him. Astarion Ascendant has already won in his game, Astarion spawn continues playing... Astarion always plays Tav (the player) not player plays him. The best RPG character ever

The whole debate around Astarion's ascension reminds me of the quote from the Bible: "Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways". It's a question of morals and the high cost of being "good". I don't believe that stuff about "true" Astarion and what choice he would supposedly make. I've read a lot of other peoples' opinions and I must say that there are quite a lot of BG3 players who believe Astarion is very traumatized and his hunger for power comes from some sort of psychological issues. While that surely is true, to an extent, I also think that choosing to Ascend is simply a better decision for Astarion in general. He'll no longer be anyone's pawn and being a Vampire might finally stop being his shackles and turn into an actual advantage for him. Killing the other spawn to Ascend is definitely a difficult choice to make, but it's either this or literal eternity spent in torment. Anyone saying that he'll be happier that way is utterly delusional. He might be happy for a few years at best and then it'll just be endless sorrow.
I prefer this ending for him. There aren't many good finales for villains, and Astarion deserves his happy ending
And I am honestly tired of people who keep coming in the comments under videos with ascended astarion and trying to prove that our choice is worse than theirs somehow.
Please, don't do that. Because it's not and you won't be able to prove me otherwise :)
haha TRUE! Its just a game and you can kill half the people you meet, steal from refugees and children, bully/deceive/mind control your way through the game. Save scum to make sure your precious companions stay as you want them to be, manipulate them into doing things they dont want (using the tadpoles for example). And like the narrator says that choice will make the future for Astarion very dangerous and an awful lot of fun!! >:)

@@seliamila1005 stating the facts isn't bullying. Ascended Astarion is CasadorV2 except he is more power full and more cunning, that is confirmed both in the game, in the epilogue and by developers.
Ascended astarion is best astarion, gods I love him 😊❤
I mean people call Ascended Astarion evil , hes even considered as tolerant better than Casador.
