Omg I can't believe I've only just found you on TH-cam! From one Yorkshire lass to another - fab video (and fab jumper)! 😉 Thanks ever so much for the suggestions in his video. ❤
LOL at your intro- bonkers in such a good way 😂. Love your originality with the gifts and I may even be tempted to make something - spoiled for choice. Thanks for taking the time. Off to Tesco for my jumper now……..😂😂😂.
Just found your channel.. Recently subscribed to Adam Sew for a quiltmas challenge he did. I'm over here in the USA and found your channel and all your lovely ideas amazing👍👍👍. Let me say I love your accent, and how your nails match your hair, and that sweater..simply beautiful my dear as well as your bubbly personality. Love love love!!! The gonk as you call it just might have to try to make one..thank you for the ideas
Great video. Such a refreshing change from the ubiquitous tea towel and pot holder gift ideas. You've given me some practical ideas I can actually make. Big thank you xx
Great ideas Ruan, thank you for your research. Your vlogs are a real tonic and I always enjoy them. You’re right about gonks everywhere this year, I’m amazed! There might have to be one in my near future. I couldn’t take my eyes off your hat and kept thinking it was going to fall off! It gave me a good laugh 😁
Thanks for suggesting so many handmade gift ideas that I have never seen before! I love the gonk and reindeer, and would definitely like to make those for myself too! The little gingerbread house is just so adorable and a robe is always a great idea. This year I plan to be give people mostly handmade gifts but we’ll see how that goes😁 I love the sweater you are wearing❤
Thank you for this. I need that needle book to sort my sewing machine needles. I think that I need to sit my daughter in front of the video so she gets the idea 😂😂😂😂
I’ve made the Gonk pattern. It’s a great pattern. I made mine without legs and filled him with rice as a door stop. Will be entering him into the challenge. Thanks for the great ideas. 😊
Love the idea of making gifts for my grands and have an idea of a gnome made from a mason jar filled with goodies. ( never heard the term gonk before) thanks for all the inspiration
I NEED that jewelry organizer. I know who else would love it too and that straightening iron + mat is a game changer and I have heat protection fabric in my stash from when I made soup bowl cozies last year.
I really truly like so many of your ideas! Too be honest, I want a few of them for myself, mainly the sewing related ones. Back when I first started watching TH-cam in 2018, The Stitch Sisters did a video on how to make a gnome with their free pattern. I downloaded the pattern straight away. I've wanted to make it every year, but every year I barely keep up with all the absolutely necessary things I need to do. So it's never gotten done, I am sad to say. So that's me when it comes to home sewn gifts. Next year, I will be partly retired from work, so hopefully I'll get to indulge in my hobby of sewing a lot more!! Thank you for all your inspirational ideas!
Fab ideas. Its true about gifting to people who appreciate.I think a lot of non sewers think a made gift is a cheap option when in fact it can be more expensive.Plus there is all the hard work and love that hoes into every stitch.
Thank you so much for this vlog Ruan!💝 There are so many different and fabulous gift ideas 🤩. Love the sofa stitching organiser, the house sewing box, straighteners pouch..so many to choose from!xx
Wow, you found some wonderful free patterns. I will be downloading most, but they will probably not get made until next year. I'm hoping to make a couple of reading/book pillows for my little great neices. And if my husband is lucky, he will be getting a new front zipped sweatshirt. I always have all these plans, but not the time to make them. I can remember when my twin daughters were little sewing late on Christmas Eve making clothes for their new Barbie dolls.
lovely gift ideas, I've made five gnomes from a free pattern from sweet red poppy they are beautiful, eighteen inches high and chunky so they can stand up. .
That mini organiser is PERFECT! 😮 I’m just learning cross stitch and it’s driving me insane because I’m always trying to find space for my pen, needles, scissors and threads!!! 🙄 I’m definitely going to make that 😄
I have had the gonk pattern for a couple of years now, but I do plan to make it for a little gift this year! I am a knitter too, and I am knitting socks for gifts, 2 pairs made, and 2 to go! I'm currently knitting a pair for myself, though 🫣😬 I am a selfish knitter as well as a selfish sewer! I can't help it, I start with good intentions, and then I think "ooh that's nice, I could use one of those myself," and onto the "me" pile it goes 😂😂 There's a lot here that I would like to make too. For gifts, of course 🤥😉🤫
I know what you mean. I’m a selfish knitter and sewist too! 😅. I mean, we put our hearts and soul into making others, who we love happy, we deserve something too 😄❤️
So far I know I need the face wipes in a little case (Sew let's sparkle with Sam), bag number 8 for my karate stuff (from 9 bags Tamlyn's) and a peg bag (from Karen's Sew Little Time) and now I need a robe. All gifts from me to ME!!!
I'm thinking I might make the reindeer but embroider the eye and sew on a felt circle nose instead of the bead, for safety's sake?? I've been making @adamsews trio pouches which I'll put a Boots card in as a gift. Off to buy fur for gonkage!!!
I have an idea for gifts that you may like, Ruan. It is a suitcase handle cover that you can put the gifted person's name on it (either embroidered or iron on vinyl). All you do is make a 5 inch (or whatever is the length of your handle) rounded corner square sandwich of your chosen fabric and batting, quilt it, and finish it with binding. Then add velcro at opposing ends on each side and add your name. This then wraps around the handle and is not only comfortable for pulling your case along but also helps to identify your bag on the luggage carousel 😊 I'll be making some for my friends as we are all going on a carribbean cruise 😊❤
I have 5 gifts to make for Christmas, 2 nightdresses and three large boxed cosmetic bags. I'm already stressing over it! I have all the patterns, fabrics, and notions and I have finished the first bag today. Why do I do this to myself?
When did a gnome become a gonk??? When i was a child (a very long time ago) gonks were something entirely different. It was a sort of egg shape, with arms and very short legs with feet and a scruffy bit of hair on the top. I still have a knitting pattern to make a family of gonks - i think from the 1960s. Look up Gonks go Beat for a cartoon version. In the 70s gonks seem to become odd looking fur characters and now they are the Christmas gnomes, originally from Scandanavia i believe. The current ones are definitely the cutest
Never had all these gnomes around when I was a kid! Or candy canes, or Christmas Eve boxes, or North Pole breakfasts, or gingerbread men !😂 Loved Gonks though. Used to get small ones with coloured hair that fixed on top your pencils !
Great Vlog and gifting ideas!! TY!
Omg I can't believe I've only just found you on TH-cam! From one Yorkshire lass to another - fab video (and fab jumper)! 😉 Thanks ever so much for the suggestions in his video. ❤

Ha ha…me too!
I just taught a class on making gnomes at the senior center I belong to with another class next month.
Awww yay!
So far I know I need the face wipes in a little case (Sew let's sparkle with Sam), bag number 8 for my karate stuff (from 9 bags Tamlyn's) and a peg bag (from Karen's Sew Little Time) and now I need a robe. All gifts from me to ME!!!
Ha ha. Love it!
Love your sweater, now I’m bummed we don’t have a Tesco in the Netherlands.
It’s so cute isn’t it!
Hi Ryan, can you please recommend a good thread to use on my overlocker?
I usually buy mine from 1st For Fabrics if that helps 😊
Thank you.
I'm thinking I might make the reindeer but embroider the eye and sew on a felt circle nose instead of the bead, for safety's sake?? I've been making @adamsews trio pouches which I'll put a Boots card in as a gift. Off to buy fur for gonkage!!!
That would be gorgeous! 😍
Hi. Did you see Andrea's live? She has gonk French Terry.
Just been and had a look 🫣
I have an idea for gifts that you may like, Ruan. It is a suitcase handle cover that you can put the gifted person's name on it (either embroidered or iron on vinyl). That’s such a lovely idea. You have very lucky friends 🥰
The sofa organiser looks a game changer!!! Definitely a gift to oneself 😁
It’s so good isn’t it!
I am definitely a selfish sewer 😂
He he. You and me both 🤪
I have 5 gifts to make for Christmas, 2 nightdresses and three large boxed cosmetic bags. I'm already stressing over it! I have all the patterns, fabrics, and notions and I have finished the first bag today. Why do I do this to myself?
You’re doing great!
Hi from New Zealand. What model is your brother overlocker
Hi there. It’s the 2104D 🙂
👌💖💖💖👍😘
😊
Where do you get the patterns?
All the patterns are linked in the description box of the video 😊

Ooh I don’t know. I’ve just always called them that 🤷🏻♀️🤣
I just looked at a trailer for Gonks Go Beat. Far out! And definitely not gnomes.

Had one hanging from visor of our first car, 1966.
@@theyorkshiresewgirlit's a gnome gonk.
Anyone taking bets as to whether it will just be one gonk, or more....?
🤣🤣🤣
xXX👍👍👍
😊
And please dont refer to your lovely family like that...line of gonks in your living room...dear me. You are such a tonic!
🤪
