FYI, its not sinking the nails in bump fire because you're pulling the gun up before it can fully sink them. When you get used to the timing and leave the gun in contact with the wood until the nail is finished sinking it works fine every time.
Good call. but Im normally not using it in bump fire that quickly. Even in bump fire I generally have a at least a half second before firing the. next shot. The quick firing was a speed test so you're probably right.

2. These, as was stated by Milwaukee at the tool release expo are designed specifically to operate with the 5ah battery. As with any machine, using components outside of the manufacturers recommendations may equate to different results. I got mine as a bare tool and didn’t get my 5ah battery until a few days later. I was excited and decided to try the nailer using my 2ah. It was freshly and fully charged, but only lasted about 10 nails before throwing the charge light. Yes, you may not own a 5ah battery, but maybe noting that the batteries you’re using aren’t the recommended power draw that Milwaukee recommends would be advantageous to future viewers.

Great indepth video but please use a 5ah battery with it if you're going at it on bump fire... the extra power the bigger battery offers allows the air cylinder to be cocked faster. 2ah will get the job done but doesn't offer the power to keep the firing system up with the rate the nailer can fire 👍

A couple things if I may, this may take 1 or 2 entries. I’m coming in to this comment from watching over a dozen reviews over the past month. I’m not a full time remodeler or construction worker, but I do my own remodeling (over 20 years experience) and own mostly milwaukee m18 tools. I’m by no means a fanboy, just used Dewalt a long time ago and wanted to try Milwaukee’s stuff out. That said, it would behoove those watching your review to be able to decide about the product based on you as the reviewer having the ability to make a comprehensive and complete review. All that said and aside, please take these entries as recommendation and not bashing by any means:
1. It’s not operated off compressed air but actually nitrogen, which allows it to be completely sealed, eliminating the need for a fly wheel. Hence why it took nearly a year longer for them to get the flaws worked out.
i want to reply to your comments as a whole but this will have to do. All the issues this guy is seeing is operator error and from having 2 units on the job site and 1 i personally bought i have had zero issues with nails sticking up, if you are pulling the nailer back as it fires you may have proud nails as with pneumatic nailers. The drawbacks with this nailer is the magazine size (get the adaptor) and more importantly, weight. The changing of batteries can also be irritating but you likely won't have to replace the battery more than once when banging walls together in a period. Meaning its quite alright considering i like compressed air guns for that particular application.
to sum it up operator error is clearly demonstrated in this review and with half decent nailing habits you wont run into any of these issues.
Good review. I am wondering how the gun is holding up 2 years later. The only thing I would have liked to see in this is a demo of how the safety sets for toe nailing. I found a gun on FB marketplace said to be new for $220 and that is why your review has been so helpful.
Mine is still holding up great bc i only use it occasionally. I find myself using the metabo hpt one more often. It feels and responds better i think.

Does Milwaukee have like a protective piece for the tip of the framing nailer,I think it is called non marring rubber,I am not sure what exactly the name is,so that the nailer's tip will not be eating into the surface of the wood being worked on.
I'm in the market for a framing nailer. I like the reviews on this one.. but the weight is keeping me from pulling the trigger (no pun intended). I'm wondering if the Paslode might be a better option. Its a trade off of weight savings for fuel cartridges I guess.
So have had the plaslode, tends to be irritating, constantly having to disassemble clean put back together, dead batteries, run out of gas, think about the Hitachi or Milwaukie, but just do some weight lifting, pain is weakness leaving the body.
U can get a spring kit for the dewalt so drive pin and long ass spring
In the long run that weight will pay off with muscles and good health and beefier construction the nailer will last a lot longer. Had a Dewalt break in half. I hone my nose to how I need it so it's sharp enough for an obtuse toe nail on the edge but flat for straight banging. Doesn't marr around the nailhead.

miilwaukee has made a framing nailer before but in a pneumatic version.
Sorry, but unless you’re using the gun correctly, the bump fire option will not work properly. With the bump option, you must compress the gun into the wood enough to let the nail sink into the wood first before lifting it away.
3. Along the same lines as comment #2, the reviews I’ve seen (again, about a dozen or so, some were real world/construction site use) the bump fire works perfectly fine when again, used nominally and within the mfg recommendations. The one or two times nail heads were not sunk completely, the reviewer mentioned it was an issue with them lifting the tip too early, which I have had happen on other pneumatic nailers. Going back to battery, This unit is designed to drive 3 nails a second in combo with the 5ah battery. If you look at how fast you were going on bump fire, you were pushing to nearly 4 nails/sec.
Overall detailed review, but not collectively comprehensive, just my opinion. Would like to see another review with a 5ah battery and critiquing the premature lifting on bump fire.
haha yeah i knew this was coming. I agree with the higher batteries able to do a better job. Although i would maybe disagree on the 3 nails / second. I mean one second is a short amount of time. But i'll try to throw up a follow up video in the next few days testing higher batteries, as i would suspect they would be able to juice the recycle mechanism more allowing better bump fire performance.
4thewin, much appreciated. Yes, 1 second is pretty quick, I agree. Did you by chance feel with the bump fire that it didn’t feel like a normal drive that single fire or the Dewalt would give as feedback? Oddly enough, it seemed like you were catching the tip on bump fire a few times there.
K G I didn’t feel that But i always wasn’t looking for that feel. I don’t use a lot of bump fire unless I’m putting up/down sheet goods like subfloor or sheathing. Even then no good framer would really be 3 nails/ second. I could see that needed in a roofing nailer. Plus the cordless gun at 10 lbs 3 per second requires a lot of maneuverability.

I don’t think it was their first framing nailer, but their first cordless version I believe. Seems like every reviewer complained about the weight. Knowing Milwaukee they’re probably already back to the drawing board on finding a way to remedy the weight issue.
yeah but the additional weight is from the batteries, which will be impossible to avoid. Could they make the tool lighter? sure, not sure how much they would be willing to compromise on build quality though.
@@4thewinak Well I just bought one and I wouldn’t say the battery is adding much weight to it. JMO guess we all see things differently. With technology these days anything is possible. Wether it happens now or some time in the near future. It is possible and and will happen.
DeWalt tools have a 3-yr warranty! Is it older than years!
These guns lose the pressure charge after a while. And holding the charge depends on the seals on the piston rod.
The charge is nitrogen gas and a special reduction valve set is required.
I seen one guy using an air gun pump to good effect as the connection thread is the same.
Not sure why you’re having issues with bump fire mode. I go apeshit on that mode and not once have i had a nail stick out. Maybe you’re feathering the nailer when you press down to nail on the lumber. You don’t need much down pressure, hardly any but also you cant have the nail fly in mid air without pushback and have it sink.
He is pulling back to early on bump fire. Shit I dropped mine off a roof works great. I had it stick the tounge out once but just needed to reset itself
Love the thing I can emty two clips as fast as I want only problem I have is running it at below freezing no prob at 20s negative 20 it not great but nothing works right at 20 below

Bump fire isnt working correctly cause you are using a shitty 2.0 battery. Re-do the speed test with a 5.0 or 3.0 HO and see how it performs.
That DeWalt warranty is only on the battery not the tool
I bought one like 3 weeks ago but nails jammed every other nail, went to Home Depot they gave me a new one, but still with same problem, please guys help me because its a $500 tool and doesn't work correctly or I don't know if I used correctly. any advice, thanks

I use the shit out of the bump fire mode and never had a problem, no nails sticking out, I was going faster than you but your timing is wrong.
The kit is not 17 it's over100
Milwaukee forces you to use their service center to repair the tool you cannot buy parts for your gun to service it yourself
The overheating is my issue with it. If it's not the gun it's Milwaukee's junk batteries.
you must be flying with that gun. in fast paced environments there really is no replacement for air

3 months later I've definitely learned how to work around it. The thing is a beast it'll put a nail through anything and I've never had a jamb. 6h high output battery made a world a difference. Let's just hope the next generation isn't heavier than my ex girlfriend.
Hold it down through through whole rotation ur pulling the gun away before it can drive it. And not using the proper battery for power my dude
I suspect he's using the smallest battery he finds works because, as he said, it is heavy.
Your so skinny.....if your using this gun for a couple of weeks you finally had the power to use it properly.....thanks for the review, you did a great job. I use this gun on allot, everyday day with a lot of nails. This will need some maintenance but compare to the yellow brand this thing rock. 9 months later still going strong 10 000 nails+.........if you are on a milwaukee battery platforms just buy one of these...MILWAUKEE IS THE WAY TO GO......
