Ohh that sound is just amazing 😍😍 I drive the Australian equivalent, (GE C44-aci) and they run with mufflers, so they sound absolutely nothing even remotely similar to this :(
@@EdmontonRails I have once asked one of our maintenance crew if he could hollow out the mufflers so they can produce some noise but unfortunately he valued his job more than audible pleasure :( haha
i am guessing the spooky sound is the air pump for the brakes running with some kind of friction and play . if the pistons in the pump where moving quick enough then maybe it make that harmonic ? .my other guess was some kind of leak or fault on a boost management valve , but i am going with air brake pump .final answer
I live roughly 6 miles away from our Sandusky Sub here in Central Ohio. (I live in Westerville to be exact and the line runs through Worthington). And most days outside as long as it’s quiet, I can hear the gevos. Winters are way way better obviously but never disappoints me if I hear what sounds like a horn in the faint distance, then hear deep rumbles.
Yeah, back before I started heading out to shoot video these tracks were one of the last refuges for CP's SD40-2s in Canada. A trio of them, rarely seen without a red barn unit, would always be transferring between the different yards in the city including CN's cloverbar yard. I wish I could of captured them working, they would of sounded great on the channel. Thanks for watching.
I just love the chugger of the GE Locomotives, nothing like it, I could hear this all day and night. Thanks for for the great video, once again!
I enjoy the sound too, it's my favorite part of shooting these videos. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Those have “motors you can feel” if you should be close to one at idle.
is a music keith
GE Locomotive Sounds Are Just Amazing To Hear Ever! Great Video
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video!
This is heaven to my heart and ears. There is nothing better than the sound of GE engines. Great compilation. I love GE locomotives

That's brutal, hopefully those mufflers go missing ;)

6:18 - When seeing the sides of Canadian Pacific AC4400CW diesel engines in the dark, they look more like gray Southern Pacific diesel engines.
At time while listening sound, You will feel like your heart is beating like throttling of locomotive..!!!
That's passion of railfanning...
It's funny you say this, there's a video on here somewhere of an FDL idling and I swear to god, it syncs with my resting heart rate
“GE has soot! GE has soot! GE has soot!”
The mechanical sound in the beginning Is the air compressor
I always adore Diesels’ tremendous level sound.
No diesel, no global economy on the earth.👍👍

EMD or GE Locomotives which one are loudest and has best start up sounds and throttle up ?
The best in my experience are the ES44ACs. Such a deep, booming sound that resonates across the city.
@@EdmontonRails I'll check ES44ACs sound in your videos....
I thought that ac4400cw would have a large sound especially when it roars at 50mph

GE > EMD sound
I dunno,,, I get it, she sounds great, it just doesn't " move me" like the "jet turbine" sound of those 2 stroke emd's 👍✌️

Man GE’s just don’t sound as good as EMD’s.
The manifest at the start the d.p.u. had no lights on as in d.p.u.lights on the loco's nose!
