Same here. I’ve seen influencers Robert reacted to now changing concealer, highlighter placement on the sly and thinking we don’t know why! They haven’t grown they just saw Roberts genius level advice and realised their mistakes! lol
i honestly don’t think it’s a coincidence that everyone changed their concealer technique and started leaning toward more natural makeup since robert came into the scene over the last year. just sayin.
I said the same thing!!!! When he first showed the technique no one else was doing that. They are still doing that triangle thing with the concealer which never worked for me.
I mean not really. Natural makeup looks have always been a thing, except it means differently in every culture. It's just whether or not it's the #1 influence in the world by the westernized culture. The majority of k-beauty makeup trends have always been about subtle and natural specifically with eyebrows, foundation, and concealer. I do think Robert is one of the few popular westernized mua who didn't bash another cultures interpretation of natural makeup, and would actually wear natural looking makeup. Natural has a different meaning in both cultures. But now western culture is starting to change their definition of natural makeup from the influence of k-beauty! Not a bad thing. Makeup is supposed to evolve. But it's common for westernized makeup to be known as the creator worldwide even though it was based from another culture. I do think Robert is innovative, informative and dynamic with the makeup he does! Natural beauty that he does is becoming a thing in western culture. But has always been a thing elsewhere. It's just who gets the platform to spread it worldwide! :)

I actually totally understood her point though because if you’re doing the fluffy brows then a good amount of skin shows in between the hairs and you don’t want that skin to be a totally different tone than your foundation. Honestly it’s a super good tip
@@Monicat03 yeah so are mine but it could also help with trying to lighten the brows too. Sometimes I want a more taupe color on my dark brows but it’s hard to do that unless I block them with concealer

I had cystic acne so badly as well. It truly damages your skin and I haven't thought about having happier skin rather than aiming to attain "perfect" skin. Thank you!
This is incredibly uplifting and motivational. No one has truly "perfect" skin; no one ever has, and no one ever will. It's about time we all stop putting ourselves down for being *human* and start appreciating how amazing our skin really is, "faults" and all.

I wish you were already here when she left before, I could've saved a lot of makeup. 😂 Other makeup gurus that came after her were mostly into wasting a lot of products. 😅
The lipstick powder trick is pretty common in theatre or performing arts bc it rly does make your lipstick stay in place. But it doesn’t look or feel good after about an hour so probably not for everyday use lol
My coworker said there was once a lady at work that was wearing green, unblended concealer with nothing else. So she literally just had green undereyes and thought that was how it was supposed to look.
guilty of doing the concealer before brows technique. i have really light brows and basically have to draw them on so i put my foundation and concealer on my forehead then do my brows then the rest of my face. works for me lol
I grew up as a teenager in the 80s, we didn't have any filters or video or anything like that. To me, flawless makeup is a put together beautiful face of makeup. I have always used the outside light to do my makeup. Texture will never go away, we never worried about texture. Just as long as our makeup looked pretty is all we worried about. These younger girls learning from the videos are, to me, learning a lot of wrong ways to do makeup. I have always applied my foundation all over my face the first thing, then I did my eyes, contour, blush then lips were always last. Old habits die hard lollolol
I was a teen in the 80’s too and I agree. I’ve never thought to worry about texture until TikTok. We just wanted to look pretty. I miss those times. Seemed so much simpler then.
As someone who struggles with dry skin (psoriasis), and crazy flare ups, can you do a video that would help with make up and makeup prep.Would be greatly appreciated.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽.
I use glycolic acid then put moisturizer on top. Aquaphor healing ointment will help too. That helped me. Use glytone exfoliating body lotion on Amazon for the psoriasis.
Honestly love that Robert leaves the contour demonstrations on his face rather than just cutting to a clean face again. It gives people the opportunity to see it for longer and at different angles.
So I get where the girl was coming from with her eyebrow routine back. I do my eyebrows first in my routine and my product tends to slip and not stick to my bare skin/I don’t get sharp lines. What I like to do is take a little bit of translucent setting powder with a dense brush and press it into the area around my brow tail then take whatever is left and blend it into my brows. It allows my product to stick and get sharp edges and works great cuz I rarely wear foundation. So that’s what she was getting at, but I think the excess use of product was a bit much and could cause texture and break up throughout the day.
Found my new favorite beauty TH-camr!! I stopped watching beauty videos about a year ago because I was so over all the ig makeup tips and tricks. But what a breathe of fresh air Robert is, honest and polite with amazing tips that ACTUALLY make my application better
6:24 I have followed her for some time now. I absolutely love her. Her talent is unreal and she is amazing. Hope more start to follow her. She deserves it. Her little poem about makeup and skin is absolutely *chef's kiss.
The background? I love it! The eyebrows? I love it? The subtle shade towards the girl who was clearly using a filter whne talking about "flawless foundation" I LOVE IT!!!!!
I would really love a full video on doing the “facelift” placement and see how you apply/blend out on one half of your face and then a more “normal” application on another half.
When I went to make up school I was so dissapointed at first that make up IRL doesn't actually look like on IG pictures. Silly, I know but it really tricks our mind
It just looks real, textured and you can definitely identify the presence on the face.. And that's what I started to love about make up with time and now I see it as an art, truly.
@@margarytavasylieva3732 I see. In movies and shows, make up literally looks like skin, and even when it's heavy and really set, it still looks really good and almost skin blurring. How do they do that? I always had the perception make up looks like that in real life too(debunked I guess)

I kind of hate when people with a lot of lip fillers give tips for bigger lips. I mean ok, some of these tips do work, but it comes off kind of weird.. Like of course your lips look really big in the end, you got fillers.. 🌚

I dont mind texture in my foundation, but i want as little as possible. My mine problem is when i first started with makeup i had flawless skin so my foundation actually looked airbrushed back then. Sadly age said no more flawless skin for you
So I need to give an updated opinion on the girl who had the perfect foundation advice. I was a teen in the 80’s too and I agree. I’ve never thought to worry about texture until TikTok. We just wanted to look pretty. I miss those times. Seemed so much simpler then.
I think we might even have AIMED for texture back in the 80s, based on how much foundation we used 😂

As someone who struggles with dry skin (psoriasis), and crazy flare ups, can you do a video that would help with make up and makeup prep.Would be greatly appreciated.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽.
Yes!!!
Yay now I have an excuse to do nothing for the length of this video at least. Robert deserves our undivided attention. 💗 perfect timing.
i think we all know and agree robert started these trends about color correcting, concealer and other good stuff
*Ima say this againnn I love this background* 😩🖤🖤🖤🖤
The silence after the eyebrow thing mad eme giggle 😄
So I get where the girl was coming from with her eyebrow routine back. I do my eyebrows first in my routine and my product tends to slip and not stick to my bare skin/I don’t get sharp lines. What I like to do is take a little bit of translucent setting powder with a dense brush and press it into the area around my brow tail then take whatever is left and blend it into my brows. It allows my product to stick and get sharp edges and works great cuz I rarely wear foundation. So that’s what she was getting at, but I think the excess use of product was a bit much and could cause texture and break up throughout the day.
i love it when he suddenly brings out a brush and gives a tiny example. i genuinely love it :D
Lost it at "Where Gweneth Paltrow would apply sunscreen" 😂😂😂
Found my new favorite beauty TH-camr!! I stopped watching beauty videos about a year ago because I was so over all the ig makeup tips and tricks. But what a breathe of fresh air Robert is, honest and polite with amazing tips that ACTUALLY make my application better
Put your highlighter where Gwyneth Paltrow puts her sunscreen 😂😂
Where does he say this?
At 10:47, I ad libbed
"Your skin carries memory of where it's been"... that was so beautiful and true 💛💛💛
"Where Gwyneth Paltrow would apply sunscreen."
I love it.
6:24 I have followed her for some time now. I absolutely love her. Her talent is unreal and she is amazing. Hope more start to follow her. She deserves it. Her little poem about makeup and skin is absolutely *chef's kiss.
Love the background change, you are just a joy to watch, thanks for bringing sparkle to our Sunday!
The background? I love it! The eyebrows? I love it? The subtle shade towards the girl who was clearly using a filter whne talking about "flawless foundation" I LOVE IT!!!!!
"Where Gwyneth Platrow would apply sunscreen"
The sass Robert! 😂 x
Yr the sweetest makeup witch. 💜🖤💜 Love the background, and love yr chuckles!!🥰😄
I would really love a full video on doing the “facelift” placement and see how you apply/blend out on one half of your face and then a more “normal” application on another half.
i love watching robert’s reaction videos because by the end his face is a patchwork of all the techniques he’s correcting
When I went to make up school I was so dissapointed at first that make up IRL doesn't actually look like on IG pictures. Silly, I know but it really tricks our mind
How does it look like?
It just looks real, textured and you can definitely identify the presence on the face.. And that's what I started to love about make up with time and now I see it as an art, truly.
@@margarytavasylieva3732 I see.
In movies and shows, make up literally looks like skin, and even when it's heavy and really set, it still looks really good and almost skin blurring.
How do they do that?
I always had the perception make up looks like that in real life too(debunked I guess)
@@ajpristine4809 film sets have professional lighting, can make the makeup look flawless even if it looks very textures and cakey in real life. also, editing in post production most likely in some cases
@@mylettucehead Oh okay
That was helpful
Robert I just want to tell you I appreciate your dedication to incorporating natural lighting into your videos and always being honest and transparent about real skin vs filters 🖤
"Where Gwyneth Paltrow would apply sunscreen"
I died.💯
Can you explain this to me I didn't quite understand that
@@aanchalgupta894 it's reference to a Vogue get ready video where Gwyneth said she only put sunscreen on like her forehead and her cheek bones because that's where the sun hit the hardest...James has a video about it on his channel.
@@DaraJill ohhhhh got it ! Thanks ! I didn't know about that
Robert your comedic timing is perfect!!! You say the line, pause for just the right amount of time to let it land, looking knowingly into the camera .......... and then move on. AMAZING! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😎
I kind of hate when people with a lot of lip fillers give tips for bigger lips. I mean ok, some of these tips do work, but it comes off kind of weird.. Like of course your lips look really big in the end, you got fillers.. 🌚
Omg that’s what I think every time I see that woman giving tips to people. I have no issues with her fillers it’s her lips she can do whatever...but don’t freaking tell people oh if you do this your lips will look big like mine. Like you said hers look big cuz she has fillers...duh...
Yeah, lol
Dearest Robert, at 58 years old and someone who has been wearing makeup since high school, I can not tell you how much I have learned from you in the last year and a half. I am just here for all of it! Thank you for being so real. You are just divine and I love your background! Love from California 🥰❤️🖤
I hate trends so much and some of this hacks on tiktok are so annoying 😩 😂
I just recently subscribed and the first few videos I have watched from you have confirmed that I chose well. Yay me!!! Another healthy escape!
“We’re not trying to get spaghetti mouth” 🤣🤣🤣
I love his laugh. And when he's got that big smile while hes talking with his accent all soft im obsessed. I love his personality
I am living for this background!!! Also you look amazing!
I appreciate these videos because you don't just "react." You teach something with every clip. Thank you.
The new background looks wkd. I think we get to see your vibe even more now. Love that shirts and the lappelles are cute.
I have learnt more from this video in less then 20 minutes than from other make up TH-camrs in the last 3 months💜💜💜Thank you Robert
So excited for this, love these reaction vids! Hope you’re enjoying TikTok, ily but I refuse to download it 😝 but I’ll still support you from your other platforms 🖤
Loooooovvee the new background! So gothic Victorian! 😍
Your new background is amazing!!
When he did the lip contouring I was like 😳😳 his lip shape changed before my eyes! So talented! Thanks for demonstrating!
I LOVE YOU ROBERT!!!! 🤍✨ You are helping me so much on my makeup journey!!! Stay blessed! 💕 I love the new background!
I just love his expressions and especially when his brother is there too and their giggle!
I thought she was using a filter, however, I recently started using TikTok, and when making my first video... there seems to be a blur on the camera already? Like a pre set filter... or just really low quality? I’m not sure! I have TikTok now! Follow me @RobertwelshMUA ! I’ll be sharing all my tips with you and trying all those makeup “hacks” 😑 🖤🖤🖤
Ok 5 min crafts king in the making 💅🏻
Wonderful background! It is much better now! ❤️❤️❤️
God only you could make me reconsider not downloading TikTok 🤦🏽♀️
0:17 Don’t mind me....This is my pre-Monday mood!
OMG! That new background gives me so much life! Love💜🖤💜🖤
"It's not cackey It's texture"
I yelled YESSSSS together with you! This made me smile! 🙂❤
I was yesterday rewatching your IG and TikTok reactions and thought that I hoped you would upload some new ones soon.
My prayers have been answered as you, god of sarcastic giggles, have just uploaded said content.
Yeaaaa
Noticed the raven with the light cord in its beak. Cute, without being cutesy. Love it!
Oo I'm early early. The whole texture thing is why I don't wear foundation in the first place, I feel like it accentuates my flaws rather than showcases my skin
Loving the background! It's a vibe. Also the girl that spoke of texture.... SPEAK IT SISTER! That was perfection.
I love the spooky ooky background 🦇
Look at robert learning about lighting!! Your evolution is BEAUTIFUL.
Love you!!!
Your face after brows video HAHAHHAHAHAHA DEAD!!!🤣🤣🤣
Yes, I love the new background! You have completely changed my makeup game. I thought I had to follow all the steps of other youtubers, like with the full triangle and all. I started watching you, and seen how minimal I had to use to still get that nice brightened and lifted effect. I have been watching for almost 2 years and I just love you. You always keep it real and never steer us in the wrong direction. You and James crack me up. I could watch you two laughing and giggling for hours. You and both your brothers have such calming voices and can be hypnotizing. Love you!❤
