Raya Lucaria lore is crazy. The craziest part is that the academy is split into multiple sub factions locked in infighting.

@@victorprati7908 The Raya Lucaria soldiers are basically a pmc funded by the Carians that became a group of armed thugs as they were given very few restrictions. They are seen fighting puppets summoned by an academy sorcerer in Liurnia.

she might have not given birth to ranni actually. ranni is an empyrian, which are known to be born off a singular god.
Fun fact: Rannala is the only shardbearer that isn't a demigod, and is also one of the few that doesn't die in-game.

Radagon would also leave the amber egg to rennala which would make her go mad and effectively end any threat she was forevermore

@@victorprati7908 It didn't, not directly--the egg has no properties that impact the sanity of its user according to the lore.
What made Rennala mad was that the egg could be used to perform the art of "rebirth" upon a subject, changing their body and even mind into something wholly unlike who they were originally.
Only Rennala could use this power since the egg was bequeathed to her alone. When Radagon left she began to obsessively study how to use it, and may or may not have used countless scholars as test subjects in her increasingly desperate attempts to perfect the rebirth ritual.
So in a way the egg did make her crazy but it was very indirect and more a facet of her already deteriorated mental state due to Radagon suddenly leaving her.

If I remembet well, it''s Raya Lucaria which rebelled against the Carian Royalty, not the other way around, nor the carian royals against Rennala.
One of my fave characters in the lore of the game, I love it when you finish her second phase you can't see her in her library until you moove you character and she suddenly start speaking. Glad she stay alive but it's still sad to see her all demented and still under the power of the egg

I’m confused. So the people of the academy were trying to protect her because she was heart broken? I guess that makes sense that out of all the bosses in the game, she’s the only one that remained to live. It would be cruel to end someone in that way, I think.
the missing context of her being locked in is that after becoming broken, raya lucaria didn't want her to be leader of the academy anymore so a carian knight named moongrum defended her and now she stays trapped there

It's actually quite the oposite: Renalla being heartbroken led to her being weak so Raya Lucaria Academy didn't want her to be their leader, and as well didn't the Cucko Knights, that didn't want her to rule Liurnia, and tried to storm Caria Manor (reason why you see them turned into puppets there). Raya Lucaria members tried to kill Renalla to substitute her with a worthy leader, and so the Carian Royal Knights locked her in the Library to protect her

Tbh I think Radagon used Rennala. Actually, Marika used Rennala to birth more demigods and/or possibly birth an empyrean. Once Godfrey and Rennala fulfilled their purposes, Marika threw them away by taking out Godfrey's grace and leaving Rennala (as Radagon).
Amber starlight implies it may command god’s fate. And Rennala holding an amber size of big watermelon. ANDDD the soldier of academy called “Cuckoo”… obviously her fate stuck with the egg by radagon as he done studying magic from them

Well _I_ did and I'm fascinated by all of the lore in this game. Rennala struck me as a very mysterious character and I think that her story is quite sad.

Marika and Godfrey: Morgott, Mohg, Godwyn, Godrick
Rennala and Radagon: Rykard, Radahn, Ranni
Marika and Radagon: Malenia, Miquella
Did I get all that right?
Wrong on Godrick, he might be related to Godwyn in some way, but he is too weak to be considered so

What’s even more confusing is: Marika was married to Godfrey, Radagon was married to renala, both Marika and Radagon left their partners to be with eachother. Radagon and Marika are the same person though. So in reality, “Marigon” just wanted to be alone it seems.
ive got plenty of theories about that, the main one being that The greater will forced Marika to discard Godfrey to make way for Radagon. Godfrey had his grace "taken" from him, which seems to be something the only the greater will can do.
Add to that, at the time Marika was beginning to doubt the Golden order, wheras her alter ego Radagon, probably a creation of the elden ring, was fiercly devout.
the solution to a faithless ring bearer? get rid of the husband, make the alter ego (who's only orignal use was to control the carians) return to marry the ring bearer, and eventually merge their bodies to have a ring bearer fully devout again.
Add to that, Marika was proven to be unable to create an Empyrean, with all 3 of her children rejected by the greater will. Radagon however produced Ranni, the only Considered Empyrean. Ranni was Carian though, and served the dark moon not the greater will.
So the Greater will needed a Child of Radagon/Marika that was loyal, and what better way than to literally make her Fuck herself. Shame the resulting kids were cursed, but it worked. Malenia and Miquella both fit whatever criteria the Greater Will had for an Empyrean

They went from loving her so much that they made her queen, to rebelling against and imprisoning her. Was it just an unpopular marriage? From what I remember wasn't she forced into it otherwise the kingdom would be destroyed?
Neither Radagon nor Rennala could win in war, so eventually they fell in love and married, uniting them.
Then Radagon left Rennala which broke her, and that gave the Raya Lucarian's the advantage of locking her away.
The only thing i wondered is why she's so easy to beat.

I swear, George did not need to bring his experience in writing complicated royalty family trees and political struggle, but did it anyway. And I'm not sure if he should be thanked or beat up for it, because I don't need headache while just figuring out how people are related.

No she only did rebirths after radagon gave her the egg. The main reason why she did it was to try and bring back her daughter ranni since she believes she’s dead

@@aspwned I can't remember what item it is, but the description text mentions that when Radagon left, Rennala completely abandoned her duties as queen and academy head due to her grief---which caused a rebellion. So the lore does back it up, unfortunately I can't remember where it says it.
