    I like the Princess Sellen theory. I also think there is a third Princess, since Ranni resides in a region of Liurnia named Three Sisters with two other towers nearby.

      Maybe Renna the Snow Witch is Ranni's much older half-sister and the third princess then? That's a pretty interesting idea with a lot of implications for Ranni's story too!

    I have a different interpretation. After all, if Radagon is Marika as the revelation states, then Marika's motives for merging of the Great Houses might after all not be as sinister as simply cracking the heart of a powerful enemy. The goal of the Golden Order, seems to have always been the grand unification of fall under Grace. And the Carians appeared to have resisted this unification by forceful means. So perhaps, Marika in all her wisdom, decided that the best way to accomplish it, was through peace in marriage. Literally merging the blood lines, which would not only stop the wars, but bring the house of the Moon literally into the fold. After all, the children of that marriage were all accepted into the order as hairs. Thus peace is achieved, the Golden order is accepted by all AND the House of the Moon is preserved.
    As to the question of did Marika/Radagon always plan to break Rennala's heart and his/her oath, i believe he/she may have, but it wasn't his/her goal or malicious intent to do so. It was a price, he/she was willing to pay to preserve the Order. And i don't think the act went without consequences for the Order as well. But that is a story for another time and it is after all connected with the fate of the First Lord.

    I have a theory that radagon was trying to seperate from marika an be reborn. The amber egg has something to do with it, since zulli the witch shows that theres red strands of hair in the egg. Maybe radagons new body was already on the process of forming but something happened. And thats the reason rennala is so overprotective of it. I assume she becomes heartbroken because she learned of radagon/marika fates at the erdtree. Trapped by the greater will and unable to seperate since the elden beast inserted itself into them.

    I really think from soft dropped the ball but maybe could pick it back up concerning rennela. What I mean is what if part of what broke her heart and lead her to sorrow is if she was one of the few people to know that radagon was Marika? Like she stumbled upon it. A item in that library would have made it so amazing. Her realizing after radagon was summoned back to change into Marika, him leaving her while he still had control over himself . Leaving her the egg but taking the sword she gave him on their wedding . All of that and only then she realized radagon was connected to her sworn enemy of the gold Marika herself . That would be genius. For her to see how far Marika was willing to go to learn and defeat the opposition of the moon and stars by literally sleeping with the enemy .

  • @yetanotherbassdude

    Fantastic dive into Rennala's lore and I love the Carian Princess Sellen theory! The biggest bit of lore we're still missing though is the true origin of Radagon. He could have been his own person, a champion who perhaps caught Marika's eye and maybe even had an affair with her before being sent off to fight in Liurnia, and who much later joined with Marika after they were married, with Marika perhaps giving Radagon the Golden Egg to give to Rennala to neutralise her. He could also be more like a Tyler Durden-esque alter-ego of Marika, originally created by her to be the perfect husband to ensnare Rennala into the political marriage Marika wanted, but who eventually grew his own, independent identity that rebelled against his creator. The information or evidence to prove either theory simply isn't in the game as far as we know. Hopefully we'll get more in the DLC that will shed light on it, as either one would fundamentally affect our understanding of so many characters in Elden Ring!

    Rennala is dead at game start. The version we see is actuallly a puppet of Rennala being controled by Ranni.
    Her whole aestetic is puppet. She mever touches the ground. (Until we smack her down) Like shes a marrioniette. She stays floating above it.
    We know the Carians and sorcerers in general can prevent death by moving their souls into glintosone and into puppet bodies. Ranni is in a puppet body, Selvius is too, as is Sellen. Furthermore, there are tons of puppet soldiers all through the lands between fighting for the Carians.
    The start of her boss fights second stage has the same exact animation as a spirit summon. She comes out of a portal in the floor. Her head is down. She raises her head and begins to fight. Its exactly the same. Ranni Inremind you is the one who taught us how to use spirit summons in the first place.
    Finally, Ranni's Darkmoon spell specifically calls it the spell of "the Carian Queen" not the "carian royals" or "carian princess" but the "Carian Queen" a spell Ranni herself created mind you.
    If Ranni is queen then that means Rennala is dead. And she is. The existance of a Rememberance confirms it. Enia says this of Rememberances. "Demigods, and even the greater of the champions, are hewn by the Erdtree upon their end, into remembrances"
    So to recieve a rememberance means that they have met their end. The erdtree has accepted them and etched a rememberance of that being.
    And since she is still there afterwards, well that has to be a doll body.
    Alright thats all have a good one.

    Please make a video about the Sun, I think there’s some really interesting unexplored content there because there’s lots of hints and sparse information that seems to hint that the sun was once much more important in the lands between.
    Also it seems like Faram Azula might have been the “sun realm” because you can find “sun realm shields” on the skeleton beastmen in Faram Azula.
    Please shed some light on this topic, and PRAISE THE SUN \ [T] /

    • @DanielGarcia-rx3kt
      @DanielGarcia-rx3kt 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Regarding this, the Isolated Divine Tower seems to show a path of destruction from the Sun, through the structures at the top of the tower, with Farm Azula at the end. You can trace it easily by standing on the dead Fingers. The golden meteor mentioned in the Elden Stars incantation probably took that path especially considering the Ancient Dragons have skin of Gold covered by Gravel Stone scales. Kind of like a golden meteor draconified. Which the Elden Beast looks like.

    • @ghostly_number
      @ghostly_number 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that the sun might just be the greater will, you know considering the relation of plant and sun, aka the erdtree, plant photosynthesize energy from the sun and prosper. Not to mention they worship the golden color, sun related too. Gold Mask whose mending rune fixes the golden order wears a sun mask too.

    • @carsonnesbit1178
      @carsonnesbit1178 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ghostly_number That’s the thing though, people just assume that gold mask wears a sun mask because it’s round but nowhere in his masks description does it even mention the sun. Unlike with the dung eater for example where his armor description explicitly points out the sun medallion.
      If the greater will was the sun then why would the most loathed creature in all the lands between be wearing it’s iconography? All the in game evidence seems to suggest that the sun is past its heyday.
      The sun realm shields description reads:
      ”Shield of honor depicting a city crowned by the sun.
      It has seen better days. Much like the wear upon the shield, the Seat of the Sun is long faded away.”
      And we find these sun realm shields only on the undead, we find a lot of those shields specifically on the undead beastmen in Faram Azula which seems to suggest that it was the “seat of the sun” and this would make sense given the current state of the city.
      Now let’s take dragonlord Placidusax’s description: “The Dragonlord whose seat lies at the heart of the storm beyond time is said to have been Elden Lord in the age before the Erdtree. Once his god was fled, the lord continued to await its return.”
      It says the dragonlord served a “god that fled” and the greater will definitely hasn’t fled, have you ever noticed the enormous sun that’s right behind Placidusax when you fight him?
      Placidusax
      -lives in a city full of sun realm shields
      -served a “god that fled”
      -is the only boss in the game that has a massive fucking sun in his arena when you fight him
      This all seems to suggest that the sun is a god in its own right just like the moon, and that the dragons were originally loyal to the sun which is why they fought those loyal to the greater will. Have you noticed how hard it is to see the sun in elden ring? Have you noticed how it always seems to be outshined by the Erdtree to the point that it’s almost impossible to see? I find that interesting, the sun is small in the sky because it’s lost its war, it’s small because it has fled.
      We know that Placidusax was in opposition to Godfrey and the Erdtree because they fought, so this all seems to suggest that the sun is a god in its own right just like the moon.
      The sunflower descriptions do make it clear that the flowers are healthier the closer they are to the Erdtree but I think that’s actually a sign that something unnatural is going, why would they be sated by the light of the Erdtree instead of the sun? Well here’s my big theory.
      The lands between was once dominated by Sun and Moon, and these gods kept the world in perfect balance, then one day a mysterious meteor struck the lands between and a monster emerged to wage war upon the sun realm. This monster eventually won and when it did, it stole the light of the sun and created a tree in which it imbued with this stolen light. The greater will is not native to the lands between, it is a god in its own right, but it is also a parasite that sends its Elden beasts out across the stars to conquer other worlds and disrupt the natural balance, this is why you see so many Erdtrees when you fight the Elden beast, you are seeing the other vassal worlds of the greater will.
      And let’s not forget the Erdtree burials which seem to be a very horrific and unnatural way of sacrificing souls to the Erdtree, the Greater Will is not our glorious father Sol, it is a parasite and a usurper and it has built its order upon a lie.
      NOW BURN THAT VILE TREE! THAT DESPICABLE PARASITE! It has usurped the seat of our glorious father Sol, it has lied to us, it has fed on the souls of our fallen heroes, no more! Reduce the golden order to naught but cinders. PRAISE THE SUN, PRAISE THE SUUUUUN!! \[T]/
      Anyways, that’s my little theory :p

    • @Jadizi
      @Jadizi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@carsonnesbit1178Personally I LOVE your theory! The Greater Will is a scam, and I think it's an outer god with a very good propaganda machine, not a natural god like the Sun and Moon.

      @@Jadizi thank you! I still haven’t had a chance to play the new DLC so I don’t know if there’s any new information that might help confirm or disprove my little theory. Honestly though, I just had a fun time crafting the theory to begin with, using scraps of lore and context clues that I found in game, which seems to be Miyazakis intent from what I know about him haha.
      Mostly I just really like Sun iconography as a result of the dark souls games, and I wanted to find a way to make the sun a more relevant player in ER’s story through my own headcanon. I’ve always really enjoyed how the vague nature of the stories in these games lend themselves so well to individual interpretation.

    I think the rune rennala holds explains why miquella and malenia were born cursed. Think of it, it’s technically a rune of the elden ring that has been plucked out of it. Whenever this is done, a law of the world clearly changes with the coinciding configuration of the elden ring, i.e when marika plucks the rune of death from the elden ring so maliketh can wield it against the godskins. And the rune of the unborn could possibly coincide with the twins being born cursed as they are. An interesting theory

    Now that I think about it, if the three children of Radagon and Rennala are demigods even before Radagon became Elden Lord, then it is only right to assume that Radagon has been a god all along. If Radagon was a separate entity from Marika then Radagon wouldn't be a god thus his children born before his ascension wouldn't be counted as demigods... Also it seems like Marika and Radagon have split personalities despite being one person... so maybe Radagon did love Rennala... but knowing of Marika's thoughts and tendencies, he had to fix what she keeps breaking... such as the loss of the 1st Elden Lord by becoming the 2nd... and the shattering itself when he attempted to fix the Elden Ring that Marika broke. Makes you feel bad about Radagon...

    • @LocksAndChains

      I still suspect that Radahn was conspiring with his sister. He halted the stars so she could execute her plot without fate intervening. Malenia attacked him to restore fate, since Miquella's plans depended on the motion of the stars. They stalemated and Radahn was rendered unable to undo his spell, thus explaining why our direct intervention is necessary.
      The only plot hole is that Ranni never shares this info with us... but maybe that was all part of her plan. Find an ideal lord who could puzzle out her riddles.

    • @anonfinally1692
      @anonfinally1692 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LocksAndChainsThis is my theory as well. It is a bit weird that only Rykard and Ranni would team up to bring down the Golden Order excluding Radahn unless it is stated that he was not close with Ranni.
      Ranni is the leader of the siblings as the rule of Rennala's house of the heir being the daughter. So, seeing her family broken with Radagon leaving and her mother slowly going insane plus her fate being an Empyrean to follow the steps of the one who destroyed everything she had, Ranni devised a plan and she roped her brothers into it.
      Rykard had a hand at least in the stealing of the fragment of Destined Death as Ranni gave him the means to fight Maliketh in case he hunts Rykard down.
      Now what is Radahn's role? Ranni's fate at the time is to become a God, at least according to her Fingers. So her plans to bring the Golden Order and Marika down cannot be realized if her fate comes true. So she asked Radahn to halt the stars so her fate cannot come true until her plans have been executed. Little did she know that it was her fate to find the Fingerslayer Blade all along.
      But Malenia happened, and Ranni needs to enter the Nox Eternal City and now she can't because Radahn's mind jas been corrupted by the Scarlet Rot. Maybe the order to have Radahn killed hurt her because it was her idea from the start. Or maybe she can't even give the order as it is too painful. I remember Blaidd giving the order not Ranni but it's been a while so I could be wrong.

    Rennalas body proportions are weird. They remind me of the alabaster and onyx lords. shes got long arms and a little head. shes really tall and i feel like her ears are kinda oddly shaped. and shes got a long neck and broad shoulders.
    I dont really know what to make of this.
    Another thing about cuckoos. At the academy there is a church of the cuckoo. So ive always made the association of cuckoos to Renalla more so than the actual knights. there are some parallels. i mean she is literally holding an egg as well.
    cuckoo birds lay their eggs in foreign nests, sometimes the young will out compete and even push the other birds out of the nest.
    we dont actually know where rennalla came from outside of she was an astrologer of some kind back in her youth.
    it didnt say she founded the house of caria, it only said she elevated it to royalty.
    there used to be other carian princesses, now there is only Renalla. kinda reminds me of cuckoo birds.
    The stargazer heirloom didnt even call her a young princess or anything, just a young astrologer.
    so like if she was a "cuckoo egg" laid in the carian astrologers back in the day by some unknown, maybe the onyx lords who came from the stars the astrologers already watched?
    alright so renalla was the first egg laid in caria, she goes on to basically lay her own egg in the academy. And then ranni is now the cuckoo egg and she goes on to kill her siblings in the capital.
    I think this all sorta works with radagon being loyal to the golden order. If he knew there were some powerful being like her with powers from another world he would want to absorb it into the golden order as he believed all things can be conjoined. So he basically cuckood the cuckoo.
    but yea I think Renalla is kinda oddly shaped.

I like to think Marika send Radagon to Renalla knowing damn well what would happen, perhaps Marika saw in Renalla what an Age of Stars could do and we know Marika was a fan of destroying what could weaken her Golden Order (lile the Fire Giants for exemple)
