You're a good bloke James. Unlike most you aren't constantly promoting products, Patreon, Merch, Side hussles etc. It's refreshing to just see a TH-camr making videos and having a simple donation option. I appreciate you not ramming monetization stuff down my throat. Thank you for being just a kind and considerate chap.
I've been watching your channel for a time, and no matter how rubbish I think some of your ideas are when you present them, they always seem to work out great in the end! Good job mate!
HEAT HEAT HEAT with LED's. The aluminium strip not only holds the LED's but more importantly it dissipates the heat, then on top you encase the LED's in resin. What will you do WHEN, not if, the LED's fail?
No need to explain the timing of this video. We are grateful for what you present us. You as a father must take time for your children, they are above us in your responsibilities. You are doing a fantastic job. The lights are beautiful! Thinking of doing this in my kitchen.
Well worth the wait. Glad you can spend time with the girls they are growing fast. Look forward to seeing them in the future. Project looks fantastic as always. Stay safe.
The lights look great - lovely soft lighting. As you said, very classy, and the thing I like about your videos is that you always have a plan, and stick to it (more or less, lol) - anyway, you have stick-to-it-ness, and resourcefulness in abundance.
have a look out for dimmers that can talk to Alexa, you can set times to come on like dusk or just ask Alexa to turn them on, works great on our under gunwale lighting and Stern lights. Looks great though James, all coming along nicely.
Wow I have just gone back and watched your first few videos. The beard and hair were shorter. Who would have thought you would be making your own resin work tops and doing your second boat. Good luck from Keith’s Broken Boats.
What a very interesting and informative video I have to admit James I actually watched it twice. I'm so glad to see that you are close to finishing your boat... Perhaps you could apply the same lighting to the steps on the stairs...??? Just a thought James are those l e d lights ment to be run on 240 v. . Or 110 v..as you pointed out the high demand on your battery source.??? I only mentioned this as I had fitted the same l e d . lights . .to my campervan and found that the batteries were discharging power rather quickly. Also they were rather bright. However a small converter box solved the issue. ... Anyway James this is only my thoughts. Keep yourself safe and well mate..
Don't worry about the Resin bothering the electronics - they often embed electronics in Epoxy to weatherproof and hacker-proof them! Yeah - it's annoying me - I'd like to fix the flashers on my motorcycle, but they're embedded in epoxy....... LOL
You know the old saying, James: It looks far from good, but good from far. 😁 You can get electronic dimmers to control the brightness and power consumption of LEDs. All the best, mate. P.S. The red armchair is dead, long live the charcoal armchair.
I reckon that those LEDs are drawing around 3 Amps at 35 Watts, (quick ohms law calculation) could try a dimmer? looks good mate, thinking now of LED under my workbench in the workshop hmmmmmmm.........
Not a great idea to epoxy these in the life of led strip isnt as great as they tell you.. Ive been fitting lots from £ up to many ££££ and a year later most are at half their original brightness.. Id recommend buy cheap and change them out 12 mths later or just suck up the lower output after a few months...
@@chrisfs150 someone else said the same and I slapped my forehead !! You’re right and I didn’t think about their lifespan. I’ll use them seldomly until they break then I’ll ignore I had the at all and delete the videos 😂
@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Im wondering if using a dimmer with them 11:41 might help? Running them at less than full brightness may help I've not had tried any yet to find out their effects on lifetime and power consumption etc.. If nothing you made them them nicely flush and it made a good video anyway 😊
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt haha i get yeh, mate the effect those LEDs give is brilliant, don't stress to much about how they feel, how often do we run our hands under the edges of worktops

@@Tass... yeah no side huddles at all, no raffles or anything….
Hard wiring AliExpress LED’s I think we may be revisiting this project in a few months…
Yes, looking forward to a 'How to remove LEDs imbedded in epoxy in a fixed worktop' video

Don't hold back now say what's on your mind 🤣
That looks the muts nuts mate. ❤

Need to get you a dimmer control for your strips. Save power AND get the proper amount of light! Looks great!
Love the community that has built up around your boats and watching the tasks being ticked off the list. Thanks and take care.
Looks sweet. If those LEDs have the ability to be dimmed, that would be a great way to save power and give a more subtle look if desired.
Love the LED idea and that looks so bloody cool under the resin!
I would not have glued the leds in, they don't last forever. Also the quality from Aliexpres is a bit hit and miss.

looks good , just concerned for led failures.
Dimming will help with heat and power plus potential failure in the future...it won't be easy to replace...
James , the lights are superb, Brilliant ( no pun ) idea and styling .

They're gonna melt under the resin- no heat dissipation mate!
Good job James, if you can fit a resistor in circuit of the right value it will dim the led's and they will last longer and run cooler.
They are looking amazing I wish I could be as good as you
LED,s strip is fantastic, well done.
Looks really good mate. Great job

Haircut and shave would be nice.
It looks excellent James! Great job 🥰
Looks amazing James !
Good evening James , good to see you again , I have been eager to see what happens next with your galley .
They look awesome, James 👌
Its well posh James.
Good job james . I'll try something similar in my motorhome
Hey, James. If you had just a week to explore the UK canals, where would you go?
Cheers.
Cool AF James!
You can buy dimmers for them - they'll use less power and you'll not notice over 80% (and less is likely enough anyway)

Its a shame you didn’t get the led stripe lights with the controller as you can turn dawn the brightness to reduce the power etc

Do the twins not come to the boat now James? Arthur was becoming quite a good narrowboater 🤔
Bloody good job mate
No need to apologize, children come first. 😊🤗 Kathy

I get the white dimmable LEDs from Temu. Maybe you should have used them. Next time?
Maybe each step needs some led's as well. So that after you have had a few , you can see where your walking,,, in the dark...
Great video thanks for the share on channel thanks lee

After 2 weeks, I am relueved to see your face, James. Do hope all is well. Leigh
Looks good but I asked myself as long as it holds in why did you sand it 😂
What did you search for James to get ‘dot less’ led. Something I’ve been looking for. I’ve only come across 5v usb versions. Cheers
If the are dimmable lights you can turn them down and take less power.
what happens if led fail.
The resin must have reacted with the adhesive backing on the strip.
Great work, man.Classy indeed.
When that cheap Chinese tat fails , and it will, how are you going to dig it out ?

Just give up, it looks gash.
I agree but not to worry these lights don't last long and I can't see him replacing them in a hurry

Beginning to wonder of you were off protesting....😂
