One of my favorite things about this channel is that you take on projects that are too much for one person, yet you see them through. Looking forward to the end results, best of luck.
James, that is the best ever advert for a container. Absolutely brilliant and so funny. Looking forward to the resins final result, very interesting. 10 out of 10 for your efforts and perseverance 👍
looks really good. I personally liked the 2nd piece with the gold more. Can make some lovely cup/mug coasters with this also and yes as you yourself showed you can make some wall art.
Seeking perfection in a workshop, full of dust, bobing up and down i other boats wash, are we expecting a bit much? That's a lot to expect yourself to have control over, mate. Wow, I'm seriously impressed with those test pieces, what an effect!!! Cool man, really cool.
I know what you mean - I was thinking I’d made the wrong choice but seeing how that pour coat has ended has made me feel like the environment can be controlled enough to make this work
James, if you want a more “feathered” look to your veining, use a feather to move the colour around. If I may suggest, use a thinner line with the white and then feather it out. Whatever you do it will look amazing!
That was so interesting. They both looked good but I think I preferred the one nearest the camera. loved the copper 👍 I will buy some tickets in the morning 😊
Been watching these with interest and you're getting great results! If you paint the corners of the tape with clear resin first and let that harden you might be able to prevent leaks. 👍
When you want higher accuracy from a level, you need to use it one direction then turn the level 180 degrees around and check again. It's level when the bubble stays in the same place regardless of the printed lines.
James, that totally had me engrossed. Such an interesting concept and a fab medium to produce art on your worktops. Can't wait to see the next episode. Anita
Your trial ones came out really good. Well done. If you wanted more black maybe instead of tipping the white and golds on use the other end of the paint brush or a pencil even to drip it on in thinner lines then use the hair dryer again as you did. Also you spoke about depth and layers, you can also do one layer with half the resin that you used allow to dry completely as you did in today's video and then do the whole process again and create different patterns again. This would create a real layer effect and you will see all the patterns created at different depths. 😊
Because of you, Im looking at doing epoxy over my existing kitchen counters (because I think they are ugly). I have been binge watching videos on dirty pours and such. Not sure if you are looking at American youtubers, but I definitely recoment watching Stone Coat Countertops. They show every single step and explaint it perfectly! (Please note I'm commenting at the start of me watching your video, so this may not even be valid by the end. LOL)
If you watch the youtubers i mentioned, they show a really great way to tape up the piece, and how to make the sides flow over the edges (breaking the tension so it goes over smoothly and evenly).
@@ItsMeJenBB yeah I’ve watched them!! Very American and I do like that!! Amazing results they get - their old vids are really interesting. Best of luck with your counter tops - it’s a great way to go

@@JamesAdam100 that’s a near perfect way to use it. Looking at the odds….I’m pretty sure you’ll be having a pile of smashed ceramic by your shed door in no time !!!
You have to have a level working surface. If too much colour is added it will end looking like a mess. To make a marble effect, use a toothpick and drizzle the white in a straight line and then move it with the hair dryer, being careful not to push it too wide. Black always looks good.
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt A boat makes that a bit difficult. At one point I was doing a lot of resin as art work, it nearly drove me mad……….definitely not as easy as it looks. Cheers
You could select some pictures of black marble or granite that you like, and maybe have them open in front of you for reference? I know I would probs do that, as my mind would go completely blank otherwise, lol. The marble looks a bit easier than the granite. But anyway, you are likely to get some interesting effects whatever you do - simply due to the material. Really like the copper and gold pigments.
Your last sentence is 100% the ethos to have. I’m not going to try to replicate granite or cosmic - I’m just going to make something which will just look like resin as resin is the only way to make it. It’ll probably look more cosmic than anything else
Looks incredible mate! For a test piece the finish is superb. You should keep them and use them as chopping boards or something. The bronze is stunning. For the motteling may I suggest tooth picks? And get swirls in there. Keep at it bud ❤
Looks good mate, I think the edge that leaked looks cool, adds to the effect. Does the natural rocking of the boat effect the leveling? Love the ad for the mug..... I have entered and have my fingers crossed, will be a great chuck key holder for my workshop.
Love the results, great job there mate! Quick FYI - tare is pronounced tear (like 'tear a piece of paper'). Also, dont forget you can tear the masking tape instead of trying to carry the whole bundle around the edge.
That came out better than I was expecting, James. No offence intended. The smaller piece is definitely worth a couple of square feet of wall space. Fingers crossed for the big pieces.
have you thought about asking the woman painter you had do the work on Sloe Patrol, to do the markings in the resin to make them look more stone like. I agree less white in there overall and maybe less thickness to what are meant to be veins of different coloured marble. Definitely cosmic looking , maybe look at some Hubble telescope images of the galaxy before doing more?
One of the techniques I've seen is to use a FEATHER to create your designs in the contrasting colours. as you push or pull it through the colour, it twists and turns and creates partly random patterns as you move it. Just an idea....
