I knew a high school friend who did something like this, which we've all done, I've done, put my stuff in my locker at my workplace and run down the road to get a snow cone at 7/11 and come right back. Well, she came back to find the lights were off and door was locked and a big sign on the door. Her workplace went out of business abruptly with her belongings inside. She had to call the city to come and unlock the door so she could retrieve her stuff. That was a huge mess. Since then, I always take my belongings with me, even if going to 7/11 and coming right back. You never know if that particular business might do that. The business you are working for could potentially be the one to go out of business, just like that, abruptly for no reason.

In cities like Midland, of course there are alternatives but many of these Walmarts closed in small communities with only about a thousand people and those place have no other supermarket. For the residents of these small towns, they'll have to drive more than half-an-hour to find the closest supermarket.
