  • Doug Hepburn Strongman.
    Doug Hepburn the Canadian strongman.
    Born 1926 in Vancouver with cross eyes and a right club foot and withered right calf.
    He overcame his disabilities to become the strongest man in the world.
    Winning the 1953 world weightlifting championships and the 1954 British empire games (now known as the Commonwealth games).
    He was also the first man in the world to bench press 500lbs in 1953.

    I’ve been doing his training program from his book “Strongman: The Doug Hepburn Story” for a year and a half now, but only a minimized version it… And even my meager version is tough as nails. I guess weightlifters in the fifties were built different or something. lol

      Absolutely. In less than two years (so far), my clean pull went from 145 pounds for less than six reps into what I have now, which is 235 pounds for an easy five reps. My squat is literally 315 pounds for ten reps right now.
