Fixed the issue per the instructions in the video. I walked out of my house at 1:51pm with two kids in tow (1 and 4). Strapped them safely in their car seats and was walking back in the house with the kids by 1:59. The video was an absolute lifesaver....thank you Lord for you and TH-cam. Mercedes was trying to charge me a $178 diagnosis fee plus whatever the cost to replace the button with labor. No thanks...a quick Google search brought me here. Thank you again!
Just letting you know that this is still very useful. I just followed your instructions and now don't have to be embarrassed at the drive-up ATM or drive-thru. I ordered a whole unit for $20 but will just pop out the needed button from that one and replace. Also just saved myself the headache of removing the entire door panel to replace the entire assembly. 👍

Life saver, window broke while on a long drive home in the rain. Panicked then remembered watching his video on replacing the battery in the gl450. Much, much harder and only replaced it myself because it died in the garage. Thank very helpful.

An army of men that cannot help in any way shape or form. I watched your video and seriously it took me a minute to fix the problem! My wife came home one day with the window down and said the button was broken....i didn't know what to do at first but took a chance and found out the buttons pop off...I swapped them and haven't replaced the back window button yet as we never roll it down from the drivers door anyways. I figured I saved a $500 trip to mercedes with this and wanted to share...I'm thrilled it helped you. YAY! :)
Just found this video today after the drivers switch broke on my GL450. Swapped it out with one of the rear switches from the panel and it saved the day. Thank you so much for this! I would have never thought of doing this

Vaslim76 just so you know on Mercedes-Benz vehicles if you hold the door lock button near the driver side door all the windows and sunroof will go up at the same time while you're holding the button. If you hold the door unlock button all the windows and sunroof open as long as you're holding the button so if your buttons ever stop functioning or you exit the vehicle and haven't closed any or all of your windows or sunroof you can always press and hold the door lock button a couple inches away from the outside of the drivers door handle and it will roll up the windows and close the sunroof simultaneously.
Window stopped working as I left work and headed home. Did I tell you it was raining slightly. I got home and called the hubster and then I googled my issue and ran across this video. OMG!!!! It worked and I am a female with very limited knowledge regarding car repairs. This saved us as the hubster had already called the dealership and they gave him a quote of $300-$500.

I haven't got a spare button because I drive a base model w169 but removing the button helped so much! I broke it on the way to work and it was raining. Had to shrink wrap it because I didn't have time to fix it but watched this video at work and fixed it before I set off home.. I can't put my window down now but at least my car is secure for the night! Thank you, I was dreading replacing it right now

I have that problem, but I'm afraid to do it on my 2010 e350. I was trying the other day but since is not broken is a little tight to pull it out, that makes me nervous to totally break it. Can you tell me if I have to fear on this or if I'm not sure have someone els do it for me?
I had to use a steak knife to start to wedge the plastic button up and then a butter knife to pop it all the way on my 2013 GL450. But it worked and in three minutes! Thanks so much. If only the rest of my life could be as simple as this fix…
Thank you very much, I have solved my problem with the same control panel in my Dodge Durango. It is very clear that the manufacturer of the control panel deliberately manufacture the driver button is easy to break even have to bear the costs of unwarranted
I popped it out but couldn't get it completely popped in the broken driver window. It does, however, work if you hold it just right and I have a whole replacement coming in a few days, eBay, $20, free shipping. I was using a finger nail file and it worked good.
Very helpful video. I had my two fronts to pop off. Mercedes said I had to replace the entire panel for $300!!!... nope!! Your video did the trick. Now I just got to find two for the panel that fell on the ground and I accidentally stepped on them. 👌🏽👌🏽❤️

Instead I stuck a little piece of plastic and used it to move the little arm up and down to open and close the window. I came across the video while looking for how to change the entire window switch panel on the drivers door which i was just about to order.
Is there a trick for inserting the replacement button? Like at an angle, or straight up/down, a little bit of pressure or a lot, how much resistance should there be trying to pop it in? I got the new button but I don't want to break the tab when popping it in! Thanks!

Nice I tried the same for ML 350 2010 but I didn't work. The button for the back it does not fit on the front slot because the side of the button is slightly different . So when I tried to putt it back it does not fit back properly. So I need to replace the whole unit.

This is a GREAT fix. And just to let you know this is the exact same panel use on all Dodge / Jeep products from '08 to '13.
