Especially with a film that happen 30 years ago who would think an actor who voice a role and then perform it 8 times a week same role that’s incredible
I can’t believe he’s retiring from his role as Jafar. He’s been that amazing villain for so many freaking years! I can’t believe that in November it’ll be 30 years since this incredible animated movie came out. Johnathan thank you so much for your service to the Disney company and fans. We will always miss you and love you. I can’t wait to see what your next project is. When I heard that Johnathan was going to reprise his role as Jafar in the broadway show I was like “is that even legal?” They didn’t get Idina Menzel to reprise her role as Elsa in the Frozen broadway show. How in the world were they able to get Johnathan to reprise Jafar?! That’s insane!
Jonathan LOVED his role as Jafar and likely was willing to do it even for a lower cost. I mean, he even reprised his role as Jafar from the Kingdom Hearts games. He just loved the role that much.
He’s definitely a legend without doubt he was phenomenal as Jafar seriously he made him popular for many years to come that voice will not leave you ever it’s just to elegant
And to think that this will mark the 30th anniversary of Aladdin. I want to say congratulations to Jonathan Freeman for being the only one for reprising his role as Jafar as a performer after voicing him and for staying longer in the role for many years yet decades! And even if he didn’t voice in The Little Mermaid neither than Beauty & the Beast back then, I’m glad he got his chance for performing in the Broadway version! Respect to his incredible career! 👍 🤩
You will see JONATHAN FREEMAN in Aladdin: The Broadway Musical was filmed shot on location at The Prince Edward Theatre in London (August 26-31, 2019) and streaming on Disney+ very soon.

He will be 72 in a few weeks.. he needs some time.. he did a lot of other things & always has. 8 shows a week for 8 years is enough.. Jonny is the best!
There’s a NYT article about him. One of the things he said was the pandemic taught him the importance of time. He was considering making the 2020 season his last but when everything shut down, he decided to wait. On Broadway, the contract season begins in February, so when Broadway reopened, he decided that season would be his last. He said he wants to do plays.
That voice. Best villian ever!
“By the powers invested in me by Mickey Mouse” had me DYING
I can’t believe he was there for so long, bravo to him! Such a legendary man

1:33 "No one wants to see a villain cry!" 😆😅🤣😂 Well sometimes we see Captain Hook and Cruella De Vil cry in the original movies and their sequels!
Legend.
I saw him as Jafar, when I first saw the show on Broadway, back in April 2015!
When I heard he'd be playing Jafar on stage I thought of the dialogue from Moulin Rouge - "Nobody could play him like you!"
"Nobody's going to."
It is impressive that he not only voiced Jafar in the movie. But he also played him in the musical.
I’m Gonna Miss Him So Much
I love his voice so muchhhh
Am I tripping, or does he sound a TAD bit like Robin Williams when he's not in character but energetic?
I also recorded this and uploaded to my TH-cam channel.
But he will return when the national tour open again
I think he's done that show enough for him. He has other fields that need to be plowed

I hope to see him again, please please he can’t retire yet!!
Hope he gets emergency re-debut one day!
Is he retiring from the show or the character in general?
I would imagine just the show. You know if Disney needs a Jafar voiceover they’re gonna want him on it.
If he retires from the character as a whole, then who'll carry on this maniacal alchemist?
Jafar would never be the same without Jonathan.
Just leaving the show
Think it’s just the show. He can still do the voice.
