As a Pit Musician, thanks SO MUCH for recording after the curtain closed, the orchestra deserves as much recognition for the work they put in for bringing this beautiful show back!!
I went over the weekend to see the show on the 24th! You all put a lot of hard work into this show and I'm So happy to have been able to see the show after 2 years of waiting. If you see this i wanted to thank the entire crew who worked on this show to make it so amazing to watch. Thank you, all of you. Seriously.
too early to say that. They're a good show, one that I sure enjoyed seeing, but the real thing is that they got an unfair deal. They lost their theater through no fault of their own and that's why everyone's so happy to see them come back, and do the run they should always have been allowed to do. Still a bit early to call it a classic for all time though.
@@bethanychamberlain7789 ok I know this comment is old but… it was actually supposed to be pro shot in 2020, but then COVID happened, the musical’s ticket sales had a dip in summer of last year and that’s when they decided it was too expensive to keep up and that’s why it’s last show was last week. It would’ve also been to expensive to record it so we will never get a pro shot or a movie.
Back when Broadway actors had nothing better to do than talk to fans on Zoom, I met Alex Brightman. He's one of the most kind, hilarious, wonderful people I've met. I thought I'd be more nervous but he was just super easy to talk to. He also totally got my weirdness in a way my family didn't and my mom was definintely a bit annoyed that this Broadway star understood her daughter more than she ever would.
I did something similar! Except he was an OBC newsies actor! It’s such a wonderful experience! These wonderful actors are so humble and easygoing! It makes me look up to all of them even more!
I got genuinely emotional watching this, which was only worsened by seeing Elizabeth Teeter crying haha. Such a fantastic show with an incredible group of people behind it
Well, she was supposed to play Lydia before the 18 months shutdown and to finally play the role you spent a short time rehearsing but hearing all the applause for a role that you were preparing for before the theaters went dark make you emotional
As someone who lives across the Atlantic Ocean and has no way to get to NYC to see this musical, I sincerely hope they make a proshot out of this for streaming/home release. I want to see this so bad!!
What a class act is Alex Brightman, I hope this show continues to run for years and years, and I hope one day I’ll be fortunate enough to see it! Bravo to the cast of Beetlejuice!
God those musicians keep rocking away to the sounds of muffled talking after the speeches and I feel like they deserve more attention, I'm glad people clapped for them!

Ohhh my heart is so happy. I was so crushed when it was cancelled. This show brought so many people so much joy its first time around and they DESERVED this second chance. Gah I hope I can see it someday! Actually tearing up at seeing so many of the OBC again.

Might be the new theater, it's possible they don't have enough time to get Delia off stage, into a room to quick change and out to the stage again if the space is different
@@Guinnessrat I think it's also because originally the only reason Ms. Argentina was played by the same actor as Delia was because Presley Ryan really wanted to sing the song, so they made it work. Now that she's not on the show and the revival giving them a chance to slightly revamp things, they decided to finally split the roles to make it easier for both parts.
I adore this show so much and it's made even better than it's back where it should be! Any one else notice Big Sandy getting her head caught on the set on Stage Right? Oops :p

He's Alex Brightman. Like the title says it's Beetlejuice the Musical. Based on the film from 1988. It was due to close a few months into the pandemic, due to the theatre deciding to give the space to a different show, but then Broadway went dark so they never had their closing night. They managed to secure a different theatre to perform in and came back recently with some but not all of the original cast. He was doing a speech to acknowledge the return and new folks.
In addition to the wonderful summary by Mayonnaise Jane, I will add that this show was a bit of an underdog even before the COVID shut down, and even before the decision to close the show in order for its theatre to be given to The Music Man. It was panned by many critics soon after it opened. Ticket sales were dropping because the critics had issued what was essentially a death blow. However, the understudy of Lydia in the pre Covid days, Presley Ryan, began making TikToks featuring the cast and moments from the show. These TikToks practically single handedly saved Beetlejuice from being a commercial failure. They helped spread the word about Beetlejuice and helped probably thousands, if not, millions of people fall in love with its music and its cast members. The TikToks helped the show gain a cult following of angsty young people. And the showrunners deciced to make the show more accessible for this group by lowering ticket prices. The show still wasn’t making a whole lot of money, though, and the Music Man with Hugh Jackman was coming to Broadway soon. The Music Man needed a large theatre to accomodate the masses that would undoubtedly come to see Hugh Jackman (and that show is pretty popular on its own). The Winter Garden, Beetlejuice’s home, seemed to be just the right spot to go. So Beetlejuce essentially gets an eviction notice, due to move out in June of 2020. But then COVID happened, and it became clear that whenever Broadway reopened, it’d be after Beetlejuice was supposed to close. This essentially meant that a well loved musical with a massive cult following would not even get the chance to say a proper good bye to its fanbase. That wouldn’t do, so the fanbase took to social media. And due to the interest on social media, Beetlejuice was able to open at another theatre when Broadway reopened, instead of simply remaining closed.
