Of course he knew he had to stop after an accident everyone knows that , even if you’ve never driven a day in your life you know, he just didn’t want to get caught, but ooohhh he did…which is great. You should sue him for all your stress and watch out with your back, these kind of back injuries can follow you throughout your life, advise your insurance of this injury otherwise you-pay for it later in life. Please Alex don’t be so naive.
Unfortunately nowadays everyone has no fault insurance so he probably won't pay a dime, just higher insurance premiums. Alex's insurance will foot the bill.
19 year olds aren't "kids". They drive, have jobs and have adult relations, tell people they're an adult, but when they do damage suddenly they're a kid.
So thankful neither of you were injured badly. Watch that back! I was t-boned years ago and thought I was fine but have had back issues ever since. It was lucky you were driving a well made vehicle or things may not have gone so well.
Who doesn't know you have to stop after crashing in to someone? That is part of driver training and he knew. I'm so sorry that happened to you, and I hope his insurance pays for everything. I don't feel sorry for bad drivers, I feel sorry for me that I had the misfortune of encountering them. Been screwed over in a couple of accidents that were not my fault. Please see a doctor about your back because insurance won't give you money for injuries unless you do. Whiplash isn't obvious right way.
He probably can get more money if he sees a doctor, but it's incorrect to say he'll get nothing. Unless Canadian practices are that much different from the US. I used to be an auto accident claims adjuster. It's wrong to think adjusters are looking to give out the least amount of money possible. Not true and actually against the law to do it that way. Insurance companies are required by law to pay what they are responsible for paying. However, what people feel or think they are responsible for paying and what the law says isn't always the same. Alex, if you feel ANY kind of discomfort that might be even remotely connected to the accident, DO tell the insurance company and don't be shy about taking money for something as small as a headache you had for half an hour. When I worked claims, I loved to give $100, $200, or whatever for a little headache or slight soreness that disappeared quickly. Insurance companies often don't look at specific payments, but rather the average of payments given out by an office. So if they had to give a large payout to someone, a small payout drops that average by a great deal. We were pushed to pay out for very minor injuries, not to avoid paying them. Claim adjusters want to finish the claim ASAP. They are judged on how quickly they contact people and finish the claim. Why? Because by law an insurance company must be able to pay out all claims at any time. They don't make much money from what their customers pay them for their insurance. They make most of their money from investing that money. The whole providing insurance thing is just a method of getting money to invest with. When there's an accident, whatever coverages might apply must be "opened" which pulls money out of the investments. So the companies want those coverages "closed" ASAP to get that money back into the investment fund.
That’s exactly right - sometimes you don’t recognize whiplash symptoms until months later. I would keep the medical part of the claim open for a year. At least that’s what we can do in the states.
I was once hit broadside at 70 mph by someone who had blacked out at the wheel. (He wasn't on any medication or illegal drugs and he wasn't aware of having any medical conditions that would cause him to blackout.) That next day the whiplash was BRUTAL. I spent Christmas Eve service lying on the couch in the lobby because sitting up was painful.
Glad everyone was ok. I would recommend going to a junk yard and getting a replacement door. You can still get replacement panels new, but the metal isn't as thick.
I must admit I would have thought that would have been Alex’s first reaction but it’s winter, he needs his truck to function and the drivers door to close Perhaps he can retro fit an old door when the weather improves
Amazing you can still order the door but really sorry it needs to be. Have your back checked out Alex. I had a similar experience and the base of my spine was painful for a while after. Hopefully you'll be ok. All the best.
It certainly is Canadian of you to feel sorry for a kid that drove recklessly enough to t-bone your truck that badly, drive off and you had to chase him down to confront him. I hope your back is ok.
😂🤣😂 How Canadian of you! I’m stealing this for when someone holds the door! I’ve previously said Chivalry is not dead, but in these times it’s only a matter of time b4 I offend someone! LOL
@Patti R Well - they’re in Alberta in the winter, where it snows- a lot! Anyone who lives there knows that slushy wet snow is slippery & to drive accordingly. As far as stopping after an accident & calling police to report it, that’s the law in the US & it was part of driver’s education at age 16. This was reckless driving by that young man who also left the scene - on purpose. Alex is being far too kind by trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.
@Patti R true but the young man hit Alex and didn't stop. The young man that hit Alex is responsible for hitting Alex. It's not a no fault situation AND when you're involved in an accident you're required by law to stop. If Alex chose to he could have reported the accident as a hit and run and the young man would have that to deal with.
Glad no one was badly hurt!! (which at the end of the day is the most important part of any car crash) - from someone who has spent a lot of time talking care of trauma patients
The important thing is that you're ok and the truck can be fixed. Also the young man has just learned a valuable lesson and will probably be a better driver because of it...stay safe!
According to the Traffic Safety Act, by taking off from the collision the "kid" could face a very large fine and/or imprisonment. Especially if you did sustain an injury, Alex. I hope they see this and consider getting in touch.
and so should he. he needs to learn. i say jail time and take away his license for certain years. exactly my thought. he hasn't even checked if anybody got injured.
Alex, I am sorry this happened. I can relate. In December, having a car for just one month, I rolled it three times, totalling it. Just when things started looking up, finally having transportation to get around after many years of going without, it was depressing. However, as you say, there are good things. In both of our cases, we are alive and in the end things come and go.
My son bought his first vehicle and a week later he was stopped, waiting to make a left turn into a friends driveway and he was rear-ended. He was okay but it totaled his vehicle. What a rough life experience for him.
So bad to hear of your accident. We have a 51 Chev 1/2 ton, that we restored in 2005 to 2012 . To have an antique in such great condition is heartbreaking to see it damaged. But as you say ,it is only stuff and nobody was hurt, that's what matters. Wishing you better days ahead. We enjoy so much being a part of your adventures. Keep up your amazing life !
Wow!!! I Am glad You are physically ok. Thank God You are still here with Us. And Your truck was well built! Thanks for sharing Brother Alexander 😀❤🙏❤💯
So sad about your beautiful truck. I too love older vehicles & had a tree fall on mine in a sudden storm, a year ago. I had full coverage.. Top was crushed,, some small damage on trunk. Engine, trans, even air conditioning still worked.. Though I pleaded & begged, State Farm wouldn't fix it, but totaled it. Could never find another like that with low miles, unless over twice the $$$ they gave me. Couldn't afford to replace it so driving something I don't like or enjoy driving. Glad you are able to repair yours. I do understand it'll never be the same. Look forward to seeing it fixed. Enjoy your videos & information you give. Much success to you & your family.
Dear Mr. Archbold 👍👌👏 The most important thing is, that no living creature was harmed (no humans, no animals). Of course it's pretty annoying that your gorgeous inside and outside green pickup truck was damaged, but at least it can be repaired. There are still some really good craftsmen existing. Maybe it's even possible to dent out the door etc. and all you need are small paint jobs spot repairs. I've seen guys doing wonders. Best regards, luck and health to all of you.
I was thinking the same thing. Had he been in a newer truck he may not have escaped unhurt. This makes me sad, and truthfully there is no way that kid wasn't aware if you hit someone you are supposed to stop.
@@anitak_ilovepink New cars are actually safer, they are built to absorb a hit but it does do way more damage but I prefer my car and not be be damaged.

I was just about to compliment you on being in your 40s and still being in perfect health with no gray hairs when the accident happened. Thank God you were in an old all metal truck when and not a newer plastic vehicle. Take care of yourself and don't be ashamed to use that free Canadian Healthcare if you need it.
Newer "plasticy" vehicles are actually safer. Much, much worse for the vehicle, but better for the occupants. The point of them is the energy of the collision is absorbed by the vehicle as it breaks and crumples, whereas in older vehicles the energy is more apt to be transferred to the passengers in the form of whiplash and sudden force type injuries. Don't take my word for it, safety and survivability stats from auto makers and insurance companies bear this out.
@@michaeljaques77 Not even a little bit. What cars do you think they use for demolition derbies? The cheap plasticy cars or the old heavy-duty, boxy cars? I dare you to take your little prius into a demolition derby and see how well that works out for you lol
@@owendeliebs1894 Um, a demolition derby is a specific example where "survivability" of the car is paramount to the comfort of the driver who's also always wearing a helmet and a neck brace, and sometimes a back brace, for obvious safety reasons. You do know this, right?
@@michaeljaques77 lol, neck braces and back braces? What are you even smoking? They're only required to wear a helmet and eye protection but way to lose all your integrity just to win an argument online.... smh
@@owendeliebs1894 every driver is different, some do wear neck braces. The same ones you see Monster truck drivers wear, or other sports participants wear where sudden head jarring may happen. If they aren't required, they should be and you probably should wear one even if they aren't. You only have one brain, why not protect it, unless you don't like it? Whiplash is neck and brain related. A concussion is by definition brain damage. Whiplash can and does rattle your soft squishy brain inside it's hard protective shell, even if no direct impact occurs. Still doesn't change the fact, these things in the industry known as "crumple zones" exist in all modern vehicles, and they aren't some conspiracy. They are for the safety of the occupants of the vehicle. Don't argue with me, argue with the physics of it and the engineers who implement them. Do you like to argue just to hear yourself talk?

@@cyndicunanan400, I'm sorry, but you move your car to a safe place AFTER stopping and giving your details to the other driver. You don't hit someone and continue driving.

So glad no one was injured. Total bummer you was so very proud it was almost all original paint work. Hope insurance claim goes through swiftly for you. 🙏🏼
I'm so sorry. I know how much this truck means to you. I would mention to his insurance company that you are having issues with your back so they can make a record of that in case they need to pay you for any future treatments to it.

Sorry Alex, that stinks. I have a friend who got a green car and she must have gotten hit 5 times within about two years while she had that car. She always thought it was the color since it only happened when she had that particular car. The kid that hit you is probably thinking "at least it was an old truck and not a newer one" lol.
I have a silver car and it seems to be invisible to a lot of people...blends into the road I guess. I even have the headlights on full time now, but it still happens that people cut in or don't seem to see me
So sorry you were in an accident!! Glad that the truck can be fixed, and that you weren’t hurt (too bad at least, I hope). My husband was in an accident (head on collision with a truck) several years ago and is very fortunate to be alive. However, it drastically changed our lives. He could no longer perform his job, as a flooring installer, (he had several injuries, but the right rotator cuff could not be corrected after 3 surgeries) and he still suffers with migraine headaches.
Newer vehicles have a strong "cage" to protect the occupants and the body absorbs the impact forces, so there is less stress on the passengers, fewer injuries. Better for the car to crumple - that's fixed faster than broken bones.
Thank God you were in that good Ole truck. Anything newer or smaller you could have really been hurt. Both of my boys totaled 3 cars each before the age of 21! Glad you are ok!
I'm so sorry this happened to you, Alex! Seems like you are currently enduring a long series of trials. Pray you are able to stay strong and positive and able to enjoy all the good and exciting things that are happening as well. Hugs and prayers for your family.
Yeah, I'm sorry that happened to you Alex and I know you feel bad for the kid, but he knew that you are supposed to stop after an accident, one of the first things you are taught when on the road and ALSO one of the first things we learn as human beings. Checking up on others we've accidently hurt. I hope that this teaches him that stopping is the right thing to do.
Alex I’m so sorry to hear about your accident We all know how much that truck means to you , you can see it in your videos how proud you are of it and how excited you were to get this beautiful old truck running and in original condition for the most part. Please make sure you get your health evaluated because once they settle your insurance claim you don’t get any more help. My husband ended up with spinal surgery many years after a car accident because we had to settle to get our car repaired so he wasn’t able to continue to get looked after medically for a while. We couldn’t wait for all the medical to settle out to get our car repaired and they wouldn’t do one without the other. So make sure you get it checked out so you don’t have long-term issues down the road. We thought he was fine . So just make sure you’re perfectly fine before you settle that claim. You only have this one shot to make sure any medical issues get resolved.
Yes, "bye for now," despite the catch in your voice; to non-car nuts like most of us, we'll think the repaired version looks just as good. Just glad you are all ok and had the joy of driving around such an original pick up.

Oh Alex, I'm so sorry to see your truck damaged and now doing a half and half on an OG truck. You're so lucky the cab frame wasn't warped on impact!! As a classic care owner, this is my worst nightmare and in the UK there are so many people who don't stop after an accident- think part of it is the lack of prosecution for drivers on the roads without a valid MOT and/or insurance... This is truly indicative of life, with highs and lows and a few curveballs along the way. The most important thing is that you and the other driver were not hurt. If he passed a driving test then ignorance is not an option. He won't learn if you don't teach him this tough lesson.
@@eileenbaird6617 police won't come to an accident under 10k nowdays unless serious injury or the vehicles are stopping traffic on a major roadway.
Thank goodness you weren't injured! Make sure he pays, like heck he didn't know! You're too kind Alex :)
Don’t lay out a cent. His fault , his payment. Kids need to learn consequences for actions.
Unfortunately nowadays everyone has no fault insurance so he probably won't pay a dime, just higher insurance premiums. Alex's insurance will foot the bill.
@@TinManKustoms and the insurance company will go after the kids insurance company.....
19 year olds aren't "kids". They drive, have jobs and have adult relations, tell people they're an adult, but when they do damage suddenly they're a kid.
Mr Alexander, you are truly a blessing to all of us watching! Your grace and calm is amazing. GOD blessed and continue to be blessed by HIM 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So thankful neither of you were injured badly. Watch that back! I was t-boned years ago and thought I was fine but have had back issues ever since. It was lucky you were driving a well made vehicle or things may not have gone so well.
Me, too - the back.
love that truck... thank God you weren't hurt Alex ! you are still in one piece
He probably was in shock.
@@erad67 YES, thank you for that information! Never realized all that.
I agree. Alex already has prior back problems, so he definitely needs to go to doctor for initial post-wreck condition and images.
Glad you’re ok Alex. Keep an eye on your back, and keep on “trucking”!
It certainly is Canadian of you to feel sorry for a kid that drove recklessly enough to t-bone your truck that badly, drive off and you had to chase him down to confront him. I hope your back is ok.
@Patti R good point 👌
😂🤣😂
How Canadian of you!
I’m stealing this for when someone holds the door!
I’ve previously said
Chivalry is not dead, but in these times it’s only a matter of time b4 I offend someone! LOL
Alex could have been seriously injured. He needs to that punk a lesson and not be so nice.
(which at the end of the day is the most important part of any car crash)
- from someone who has spent a lot of time talking care of trauma patients
The important thing is that you're ok and the truck can be fixed. Also the young man has just learned a valuable lesson and will probably be a better driver because of it...stay safe!
Bummer for sure. Very glad you don’t seem to be hurt badly 😊. Thank goodness you were in your big heavy truck!
I know he can get a fime here in Edmonton for leaving the accident not sure about jail time though!
come on he was scared...the traffic safety act ahhaah..
Alex found him and they are going through insurance.
@@1cutebyrd I read it on the Edmonton Police site. I'm in Ontario so was curious
Ugh! What a bummer about the truck, glad no one was hurt.
The important part is no one got hurt the truck is just material at the and of the day your health is whats really matters
So sorry alex ,I hope your back is OK, go straight to a doctor for to be checked ,since you dealt with recent trouble, prayers for healing 😘💞🌹

So very glad you were NOT hurt - so very sorry to see the damage - but as you indicate it can be fixed - and that is truly a great thing
Wow!!! I Am glad You are physically ok. Thank God You are still here with Us. And Your truck was well built! Thanks for sharing Brother Alexander 😀❤🙏❤💯
So glad you were not hurt. Metal can be fixed, injuries are different. Glad there is insurance too for this.
I’m glad you’re ok!! That could have been so bad!!!
Dear Mr. Archbold
👍👌👏 The most important thing is, that no living creature was harmed (no humans, no animals).
Well built trunk so you were not hurt. Try that in some newer models. Glad your safe. ✌️🖖

@@michaeljaques77
Not even a little bit.
@@michaeljaques77
lol, neck braces and back braces?

@@cyndicunanan400 You dont drive, do you ? If so, you need to learn the rules of the road and accidents. You dont move a car after an accident.
