- Band: The Doors
Album: The Very Best of The Doors
Release date: 2001
Track number: 2
Genre: Psychedelic Rock
Lyrics:
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire(x2)
Try to set the night on fire
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire(x2)
Try to set the night on fire
0:00 - Start
1:05 - Instrumental Solo
5:30 - End of Solo
Man that keyboard solo never fails to put me in a trance, awesome song.

My intro to the 70s music❤
I’m 70 still in great health but at my funeral this song will be rocking to celebrate my living through the greatest era of music
When you mean light my fire you will be cremated? Lol 😅
It would be the perfect song to play during a cremation.
Absolutely
Friend, better have Jesus as your Lord and Savior before you die, you don’t wanna end up in eternal hell for Sinning against eternal God, which is what will happen. I got all the proof in the world to prove the Bible is true after all. Science, psychology, etc. first I’ll give you psychology!
You cannot out psychologize the Bible for God not to throw you into hell for all eternity. In other words, you cannot come up with a good enough excuse here and now, so you will not be able to on judgment day. If you say you did not want to be born, God is going to say you should’ve been born again, that means become a Christian so that’s not gonna work. And there are no other excuses try to think of one. So now you know for the first time in your life, that the Bible is smarter than you and it is a steel trap, smarter than all of mankind, What should you do then? So at least investigate and look to see that these things are true, because right now you just learned the Bible is smarter than you, and you will be accountable for your life on judgment day before God!
Prophecy, the Bible is 27% prophecy, that’s future history written in advance. God‘s really sticking his neck out to get it cut off if he’s wrong, but he hasn’t been wrong about the thousands of prophecies that were fulfilled, so he’ll be right about the end of the world prophecies as well and you’ll have no excuse on judgment day for not looking for truth!
Caveat: you cannot look for God in times of chaos says Isaiah 45:19, so you better do it now. In other words,You’ll be too worried about your own survival when chaos hits, than your eternal destiny!

When this song came out in the 1960's I was a teen. I was invited to a wedding of a relative of an acquaintance at a lodge in the Los Angeles hills. He drove the two of us there. We were on the freeway with this song playing and it began raining hard and suddenly a bolt of lightening hit the hood of his station wagon!!! This song will always be associated with this.

Whatever happens, this solo is one of the reasons life on earth was worth it. I feel like even if it all goes back to being infinite amounts of lifeless space and matter, at least some creatures on a pale blue dot got to experience being alive like this. The Doors, despite all of Jim Morrison’s limitations and dysfunctional behavior, were a unique and talented band. Their haunting and exilerating sound is timeless.Robbie Krieger deserves more credit than he was given.

10 years ago from today : My father was found dead inside his room and things since then hasnt been the same. My dad is the only reason why I even listen to the Doors in the first place and also reason why classic rock is my all - time favorite genre of music that I ever bother to listen to . It's strange that he died exactly on same day that Jim Morrison had his birthday on ( and same day that John Lennon was killed ) . RIP pops 😥😞
SO SORRY about your dad. I know what it feels like. My mom died in 2004. I lost BOTH of my parents when that happened
@@lisavaughn7817 I do deeply appreciate your condolences : my father was an huge influential when it came to " my taste in music " . I enjoyed listening to radio with him growing up as an kid when he was still alive and helped introduced me to alot of classical rock groups . My mom ( whose still alive ) is also a big reason why im more into " rock music " then pop crap that you'll hear now . He did drugs unfortunately, and also drank alot which cause him to die at early age ; he was on an waiting list to have a liver transplant but pass on before they found an match for him . Very sad ...
Commiserations for your dear old dad. He would be proud that you are listening to his music. Take care and I hope you continue to enjoy this timeless, amazing song!
@@godofrock6985 Yes, very sad. God bless x
I am very sorry for your father's passing. It's sad to know he was unable to see there's better reasons to live for, than risk losing them. At his best, he gave you life and your love of Rock. And maybe other great things that are helping you cope. Music is a beautiful way to enjoy life's memories, it can take you back to a happier time. I know grieving has no time limits. Sometimes putting your sad feelings, about losing a part of you too soon into a different view, can totally make all the difference, if you are trying to fill that empty feeling. I had to do it because I ran out of tears, but still felt empty from losing my Mom in 2007. I created a new happiness from all the energy I lost missing her. I decided to bring her back into my life. If I had somewhere to go, I would say in my mind "ok Mom we're going to ........" I would ask her if she was with me to let me see a Cardinal fly by", within minutes I would see one, and be filled with happiness. Cardinals are Messengers from loved ones in heaven. You don't have to believe it, but it's written everywhere.
I hope you find a way in the future to find happiness through your grief.
55 years old and this sound stays fresh everytime I hear it.

Sad
I may be slightly late but I've come with my condolences. But yeah I'm here by chance as i was looking for a doors song I haven't actually found yet, someone in my college listened to it regularly almost every other day, and i remember it's name was something like "midnight man" but i just can't find it. I did find this old song with a name similar to one of a relatively new j-pop song "light my fire" so i came to check if this was an inspiration, it probably wasn't now that I'm hearing it
The organ is hypnotizing. Incredible. The organ solo burned through my mind the entire time I listened to it and I felt this incredible sensation.

18 here, loved this song since my parents introduced it to me
This version is the BEST version! They rarely ever play this version on radio. I guess it has something to do with time, the limited time in which they play each song. Still, however, I would rather hear this version than any other. The combo organ solo and the guitar solo afterwards is the BEST part of this song. You just CANNOT leave those out! I get chills from those parts every time!
Agreed!!
This now generation has nothing on ours
I can vividly remember they play most of the time a short version without the instrumental "middle" part. I can't understand why so I agree with your anxiety.....
Yeah, unless you had a good album rock station, they would play the short Ed Sullivan version for pop radio, and even more unforgivably, start talking over the end and such to fade out the song and sell you some of Honest John's used cars. That's when I would fantasize about sending some paisanos to the radio station to "fix" the problem.
this is the version I heard on the radio, I was straight up enchanted and had to ask my mom the name of the song bcs I... was born in 2007 and did not grow up with these songs lol
In 1967 I was working on the docks at one the largest post offices in L.A when ever this song came over the Radio system the whole crew would sing along,25 guys at the top of their lungs . I’ll never forget it!😎🔥🔥
The doors will always be one of the best rock bands. This song is such a masterpiece, I can’t never get enough of it . The doors are one of the greatest bands in my ears they would have done a lot of new beautiful songs like this if Morrison hadn’t died so early , so that’s it that’s all I had to say !
Yes, I agree! The Doors are irreplaceable. LMF, is without a doubt my go to song for any mood I'm in. I close my eyes, and dance to the spirit of the 60s. The music of the 60s and 70s is irreplaceable. Morrison and Ray I love you. Thanks for the memories.

Till this day & forever I will jam The Doors !🤎💕 Touch me is my favorite song & Light my fire is up there also . People are strange is another jam.Jim Morrison is a LEGEND & one of the greatest to ever walk this earth & his art, craft & pushing barriers when he was told no & the doors was something else that we will never have again .
As a pianist, learning this keyboard solo completes me soul

Beautiful!

So u were a stripper?
YOU'RE BREATHTAKING
Awesome! I'm listening at a bar in Arlington Texas right now!
Colombia presente!!
pero si jim morrison no era latino era irlandes americano

I heard the line “Girl we couldn’t get much higher” and automatically fell in love with Jim Morrison. Beautiful voice! ❤❤❤
Best part of this amazing song? All of it. Krieger's guitar solo, Ray's fiery keyboard, Densmore's drumming that pushes it forward that other guy's awesome vocals. If I had to choose just one, I'd go with Krieger's guitar, but this is truly way more than the sum of its considerable parts. This is music, alchemy and sorcery. Easily the most influential piece they ever wrote.
this song is easy to play on the keyboard
bahaha that other guy
I agree, that other guy's vocals are something else too.
Yeah, that "other guy" is great
Shame nothing really ever came of that other guy
It's the elements of Jazz, Spanish and Classical that make this one stand the test of Time. Morrison's lyrics are poetry at its very best. This one moves right sooooo right -- then as now. I've got some great memories associated with this one! Jim (RIP) Ray (RIP)
Robby wrote the lyrics to this one
One of the greatest songs ever, especially the album version not the radio version.
Music like this by incredibly talented musicians is timeless and like a good wine only gets better with age. It stands up after 50+ years and will always be in style.
Oh Yes! TRUTH INDEED AMEN 🙏
Jim Morrison and the doors are the classic dope shit. No body plays guitar like that now a days
The best keyboard playing ever recorded! The keyboard solo is iconic and mind blowing.
Ray Manzarek was legendary!! Rip 🙏
Real ❤
This song makes you feel alive no matter how dead you may

Truth Indeed
August, 1967. This song was playing over and over every night in the rec hall at band camp...I was a sophmore. Every time I hear it I am transported back to that special time of life...young and the world of life ahead. It will always be close to my heart!!
Miss the carefree days, this music takes me back to that time when I need my escape
Brings back memories of when I was an 11 year old kid during the carefree Summer of 1967. 7th grade was ahead and music was becoming a lingua franca and common denominator for the young. Long live the Baby Boomers and their legacies!
Same memories except I was a year behind you. We listen to this music on our transistor radios. Very special memories indeed
Oh Yes @ i was a little younger than you,but remember it.
The Doors was before my time but the music and Jim’s voice never ages.
I'm 16 now, my dad listened to this when I was a child, after some time I found this song, I love my dad
I am so hooked on this song, especially the keyboard section.
Bailey Shore sad that current music doesn’t have much emphasis on the keyboard
Yes we need more rock and roll.
Welcome to Doorsland
Grande mi Rey lagarto ninguno como TU se te Recuerda.con mucho amor
My dad LOVED this song when I was little. For some reason I thought they were the same age but Jim was born 20 years before my dad.
Great Father you had
I was probably born the same year as your father. 1963.
This was the first song I played by ear on piano at 5 years old. My Dad got me a Hammond B3 after. Beautiful Remaster. I can still recall the song constantly played everywhere. FM radio would play this Version. Thankfully, my teeange Aunt gave me the album. Timeless. Spot On!!
Jim Forever!!! Cheers! !!
Oh shut up no you did not play this by ear at 5 years old
A masterclass organ and drum segment in this performance. Mesmerically and head noddingley brilliant. Unforgettable. Needs to be listened too occasionally to get that unique musical lift!
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now, we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now, we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire

Seriously Greatest Music Ever
this song has an energy that few new songs have nowadays
2020 with the doors
The doors is out of this world, masterpiece
"Riders on the storm" > Let your children play" What an imbroglio it has become of society today.
A song about Fire that could bring Tears in your Eyes! That is the balance of Yin-Yang/Fire-Water in this track.. The Doors of Perception!
Yeah.and.Aldous Huxley went blind
The writer of The doors of perception
Hearing this in summer 67 in high school gave me chills, definitely my all time favorite band along with Led Zeppelin.
How lucky you got to experience this when it first came out! The best music seems to come from around that time
