  • One of the ways I currently enter the Bear Trap from the Top and how I finish with an Ankle Lock. In 2022 I made some changes to make this position easier to entry and to stay tighter to make it hard for my opponent to escape. I use this technique in both gi and nogi.
The old way I entered from the top into the Bear Trap is in this video I did a couple years ago. • Quick Bear Trap Attack...

Is this competition legal because the rotation seems to be inwards.

In gi it probably depends on the top leg and how far across you reap it over. I mostly use this attack in nogi. I did not show it in this video but I also finish going the other way to the outside and use more of a standard ankle lock finish keeping the bear trap.

@@waynesniffen9427 thank you for your answer. I will give this a try. Am a big fan of the bear trap but was always scolded for reaping at my previous school. My coach today doesn't mind as long as I am careful with my training partners.

@@MiniNinjasJiuJitsu Not sure what level you are but the technique in this video I would say is intermediate to advanced. I use it mostly on higher belts that play seated guard. Here is another video on an easier way to enter. th-cam.com/video/PpWd92CL0oM/w-d-xo.html

@@MiniNinjasJiuJitsu And if you are new to the Bear Trap it is easier to start by entering from the bottom. Here is an old video I did during covid on bottom entries. th-cam.com/video/tT1JNxSCqks/w-d-xo.html
