Thanks. It depends on the context and situation. When standing it is hard to wrist lock someone with a closed fist, especially if they are resisting using a lot of strength. One thing you could do is distract them, like poking them in the throat to make them think about that and not focus on a closed fist. Then you might be able to do the wrist lock. I would probably transition to another technique like waki gatame and either use that or transition back to the wrist lock. Here is an example from another video I did. th-cam.com/video/ucpre7G6wWE/w-d-xo.html Now if you are on the ground you can wrist lock someone with a closed fist. I mostly teach BJJ and have finished many people who have had a closed fist. On the ground, you can isolate their arm by controlling it with your legs, body, and arms.
I might show some in the future. I have a list of techniques I want to film for Small Circle, BJJ, and NoGi grappling that don't really involve striking. When I was younger my main focus was on striking (full contact karate, kickboxing, etc...) These days I mostly teach BJJ, Judo, and some Small Circle. If you join the Small Circle Jujtisu web site as a member, which is pretty cheap you will have access to the curriculum with videos on all the striking, blocks, etc. But, you got me thinking. Maybe I will show some strikes and blocks I like to use.
Thanks for that info. It's a small circle dojo near where I live & I've been hesitant to join because all videos on the web of SCJ demonstrate lots of grabs, wrist locks & etc but I haven't seen strikes as kicks & punches nor blocks
I just checked and it is currently $50 a year to access the small circle jujitsu web site as a member. It has all the striking, blocking, and rank requirements.
How do you apply wrist locks if the opponent has a closed fist? Good video BTW!

Can you demonstrate the basic blocks/strikes & kicks of Small circle?
