    What I found with equipment the best thing I ever did was buy a ride on mower. Once I owned one I used it anywhere I could, I didn't just use it on large mows where you needed one. It increased my income by $600 to 800 a week because I got through lawns faster and I wasn't so tired which meant I could do more. Depending on your clients, if you have some big lawns get a 42 inch, but if you're doing mainly smaller lawns get a 36 inch because the 36 gets through single gates into backyards easier.

      Awesome mention about the 36'er making it through single gates - it's the little things that are actually secretly the big things, I reckon! Cheers Brenton.

    G'day good sir! Just wanted to say a massive thanks mate. For a newcomer to the space wanting to learn the ropes of how to do this professionally, respectfully, and simply plain well... this is a treasure trove of advice and good spirited guidance.
    Again, thanks a million mate. If it all works out for me, in a few years I'd love to try get in contact and offer to come shake your hand and offer you a beer or something (I'm not a drinker but we can cross that bridge when we get there haha.)
    All the best.

    Solid advice! Been in the industry for 15 years and agree with everything you said. Although I would recommend peooke coming into the industry do a hortilulture course at the minimum. I also studied hardlandscaoing and design and it had helped a great deal in getting a range of work. Also the people you meet and cobversations you have will help more than studying solo on the internet. Internet and youtube should supplement your learning, not be thr only source of learning in my opinion.

    Thanks mate, great advice, this is my fourth year going into fifth and defo got nice clients now but I’m too cheep doing everything on an hourly rate. Going to up my prices next year, if I loose some then the new clients will be on a price per job I think. Keep the great videos and advice coming please.

    Business insurance is a must. I have never worked this industry but i am a auto glazier...... when mowing, either private or comercial , you will find anyone with a car parked near you will blame you for every chip, crack or bullseye intheir windscreen..... also side glass and rear. Windscreens are no longer $250 trade price..... with modern ADAS systems its 1k plus...... modern cars have laminated side glasses..... ive seen jeeps for $2000 for a doorglass..... rear glass prices will make you faint..... i know of a mates job pending on a current Tesla vehicle where the rear doorglass was scratched "apparently" by a council mowing mob....... 9 month wait for glass and 4k plus for the glass delivered......... so insurance insurance insurance

    Add ons are where the money is. Weed spraying, small tree removal. Tree removal is very lucrative because tree loppers over quote because they dont want to do it. Rubbish removal, garden clean up. And make overs too

    • @mcpheesgardeningservices
      @mcpheesgardeningservices  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      absolutely totally agree upselling can easily double your turn. over and much more , our customer base is small but add on take care of business requiring us not to take any new work on .. been like that for a few years .. appreciate your comment

    Is there a way to politely turn customers down?
    I had a bad feeling about my last customer and didn't know how to kindly refuse the job.
    I gave a higher price, he accepted. At the end he offered to pay me with a massage.
    I told him I accept cash or bank transfer, and he did pay but I haven't done lawn care since. Too many creeps in town.

    • @mcpheesgardeningservices
      @mcpheesgardeningservices  หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes that is creepy , what I do is tell the client we are changing our direction and unfortunately we are unable to service you but really appreciate your business. Sometimes i will refer them on to a franchise lol but seriously I just bid them good day definitely dont use the price rise because no matter how good the money is you dont like the customer or the property.
