    While everyone else is losing their mind over the gorgeous skins or growing increasingly concerned over the number of limited operators (which aren't ending anytime soon given Ch 9 has been announced), the fact that I'm a meta slave means I'm talking about the upcoming buffs and how I'd personally handle them!

    Fact: Without Pti, Mostima's S3 actually charges faster than SA's S3. That +0.4 SP/s is no joke

      The caster SP buff changes S3's 110 seconds into 78.
      Also, I M3d her S2 like a month after rolling her and she has an effective ridiculous 36-second cooldown for a 7-second stun.
      Not to mention, having her on the battlefield boosts ALL the casters like that, giving them much better skill uptime.

    The problem with aoe casters is the fact that Goat exists. I don't know what they were smoking, but i think their thought process went like this: "So we have SA that is melee delete button, let's make an ARTS delete button WITH 360 RANGE. No wait... let's give her bonus dmg to all casters on deployment herself included + initial sp boost (i mean why not) and reduce RES of enemies she atacks... GENIUS!!!"

      Seriously. Without eyjafyalla skill 3, do you know how many aoe casters would be ten times more viable than they are now? I hate how so many units they release seem to have been thought up in a vacuum. They’re cool on their own, but Yostar completely forgets that meta and power creep is a thing and they release units whose entire kits fail to give you ANY reason to choose them over more ubiquitous meta picks….

    Keep in mind these are archetype buffs, not individual operator buffs. Meaning it's very unlikely we'll be seeing any skill or talent buffs that aren't universal to the arcehtype.
    On one hand, that is worrying, because we've seen these type of buffs before. And they were almost completely worthless. The interesting part here tho, is that they buffing the chain-casters AGAIN. Meaning they do know that their previous buffs were pretty pointless. So maybe we'll see bigger buffs this time around.

    I've had a thought about what they could to with Matoimaru to make her actually worth using:
    Demonic Power
    Initial SP: 0 at all ranks Cost: 20 (10 at M3)
    Offensive SP Recovery, Auto Activation, Infinite Duration*
    Upon activation, Matoimaru reduces her defense to 0 and gains up to 150% attack. Matoimaru regens 50% of the damage she deals as HP and gains a layer of 3% attack speed for every time she attacks, up to 10 layers.
    *If Matoimaru is out of combat for more than 5 (10 at M3) seconds the skill deactivates and Matoimaru is put at 0 SP.
    That all being said she's a 4 star so chances are nothing even remotely this elaborate will happen and she'll just have the DEF hit removed/mitigated.

      @@HyperOpticalSaint AOE casters (aside from Ifrit) and ricochet casters are severely underpowered with ridiculous DP AND SP costs though
      An Amiya, Eyjafjalla or Ceobe will do more tricks than whatever non-Ifrit types of these operators will ever use unless being tryhard

      @@ohamatchhams There is no doubt the single targets are better overall, although the Japanese Mostima and Skyfire 32 does show AOE CC caster can be key to hardest content in this game. I think in the new CN archetype they are moving Ifrit to her own and no longer group her with regular AOE caster.

    Take note for mostima's high sp skills,she has her sp recovery talent which is why her skills cost so much sp

      Yeah, but if you ask me they should make her talent be an advantage instead of leveraging her high costs (I have E2ed my Mostima and I bring her almost everywhere she's one of my favorite casters) I just hope the buffs will make her a little more viable~

      True. At E2, when she gets her S3, her talent increases SP recovery speed by +0.4 making it 1.4 SP/sec total. Effectively she can charge her S3 in 110 SP / 1.4 SP/sec = 78.57... seconds making it slightly faster than Eyja's S3. Good news is that she gives this +0.4 to all ally casters, not just herself, so if you use her with other casters, she can really boost the overall damage of the squad. For example, Eyjafjalla's S3 would take about 57 seconds to charge instead of 80 seconds (if initial SP is ignored). This way we don't need to bring Ptilopsis to a caster oriented squad, and even if we do then Mostima's talent should override it for casters because it's stronger than +0.3 that Ptilopsis has at E2.
      I don't think her talent is beneficial only to high SP cost skills but even lower cost skills can benefit from it. For example, Eyja's S2 at M3 has 5 SP cost and +0.4 boost would make it charge about in 3.57 seconds. This mean 3 charges of her skill would take only about 10.7 seconds instead of 15 seconds.
      So, if we are judging Mostima's SP talent then yes, applying it only to her own skills only negates increased SP cost but applying it to all casters can really boost the overall damage. Note: I just got Mostima from Dusk & Saga banner, I do not have her at E2 yet.

    When it comes to buffing a class of operators I do not think the skills should be touched, they are the one thing that is flexible enough with every character to be able to make anybody good. It's either rework the archetypes gimmick/functionality or buff stats.

      @@challenjour7907 if you buff attack speed (which is what I think AOE casters need the most) it also buffs most skills, mostimas 110 sp cost spell is one of those.

      Aoe casters and chain caster fix they need is sp cost. They are too high but gives so little use

      @@johanedfors3899 It would defeat the purpose of single target casters. One of the few things that single target casters are good at is attack speed, its part of their archetype. If you increase it for AoE's, they'll powercreep single target casters since mosf of the AoE casters have way higher base damage than single target casters

      @@challenjour7907 single target casters aren't really useful outside lf their skills, which many are really broken. Single target casters if you ignore skills are honestly pretty weak too. Snipers have just better raw stats.
      What I'm saying is that single target caster's purpose are their skills, not their raw stats per say. While AOE casterd are cursed with pretty mediocre skills and terrible dps.
      Also, single target casters have already almost half the attack speed, lowering AOE attack speed to lets say 2.4 from 2.9, single target casters would still be 50% faster.

    the thing you have to consider for purgatory is that her S2 almost triples her attack interval and both rings of fire stack when they overlap so its actually 80% of atk each second if both rings hit the enemy.
    so at M3 its actually almost 3 times as fast and 100% of atk each hit

    Purgatory, yes its 40% art dmg, but each second, which mean (of course its less good vs high res enemy) but since her atk interval is 2.9, she almost triple her atk speed at the cost of less atk. But the weird mechanic about her is what make her interesting even more, with aoe half of some map.

    I know you put in a lot of time to speculate how each of them can be buffed, but let me assure you it won't happen, it will be a template buff for each arch type such a aoe caster will have their standard attack speed buffed etc. They will NOT do individually tailored buff to each of them

    from how they are arranged I think its gonna be a class archetype buff like what they did for support guards a while ago and that they're handling specific operator "buffs" with their new item equip system also shown.
    personally I think aoe and chain casters could use a combination of less sp cost, less dp cost or faster attack speed
    duelists need some arts resist and atk spd increase

      Well, guards focus MOST of the offense than the defense, I think it would be better an ATK bonus. But for chain casters I agree with you. ( or maybe even a survivability buff )

    As Motoimaru enthusiast I can say that she needs utility/consistent self sustain more than anything else, something like Specter's 2% HP regen would be just the perfect thing for her because:
    -1st She has only 1 block so there aren't many ways in which you can use her other than soften defense.
    -2nd most enemies already crave 5-15% of her HP with single hit due the low DEF, so she won't become unkillable or replacement for Utage and Hellguar even if you add her first skill to the HP regen.
    -3rd all 4* have one niche that makes them unique and one that makes them pretty situational: Haze looses 75% of HP for +70% ATK and ASPD, Jaye consumed DP, Susuro can only use her skills twice per battle.
    -4th Story-wise Motoimaru already has such HP regen and even tells you about it.
    -5th It would make sense when promoting her to sacrifice that little bit of defense in order to enhance survivability.

    I don't personally think these are really 'Operator Specific' changes. More Class/Archetype buffs, like what Brawlers got.
    For me, the way I think they should buff Chain Casters is with three things.
    1. Remove or increase the chain limit. I'd say at least 5 bounces minimum.
    2. Reduce damage lost per chain from 20% to 10-15%
    3. Let chains bounce to a previously struck target one time.
    This gives them the much needed wave clearing potential they need to fill their role while not treading on the boss-killing toes of other classes.

      If you remove the chain limit and you let the chain bounce back to previously bounced targets it wouldn't mean that the chain would bounce forever until everyone died? Imagine stacking on the same boss 30 chains thus lagging your phone :p

      ​@@kaykz885 No no. What I mean is the chain can bounce back to a previously hit target one time. So if there are two enemies, they can each be struck twice.
      So, Enemy 1: 100% Damage, Enemy 2: 90%, Enemy 1: 80%, Enemy 2: 70%, then it ends because there's no one else for the chain to jump to.

      Another problem with them is that their atk is unnecessarily low. I'm not saying give them Aoe caster atk, but they even have lower attack than the average vanguard. Excluding the flagbearers.

    Duelist Guard Trait Buff: When blocking an enemy, increase ATK to 130% at E1 (150% at E2)
    With High RES becoming more common in the current and future meta, Physical DPS operators could carve out a niche if they can bring enough ATK to overshoot enemy Defenses
    I doubt we’ll see Skill buffs, but taking the above Trait Buff in mind
    Franka: Shift her Trust bonus to +100 ATK. Her S2 should provide a substantial amount of Physical and Arts Dodge so she can actually earn her Survival Tag; let’s say 50%
    Skadi: Surtr is almost always gonna be the preferred Helidrop Guard, so I think her S3’s Bulkiness should be played up. I’d have her Regen 5% HP each second, and an additional 5% with each attack. If Surtr is a DPS Sprinter, Skadi would be a DPS Marathoner; a good option if Surtr burns out too quickly.

    Mostima is my favorite character, but my GOD she needs help. I think Yostar was worried that making her skill 3 an arts version of Silverash skill 3 would be too OP, but honestly….no, no it wouldn’t. If you made her skill 3 an arts version of Silverash skill 3 it wouldn’t even make her that broken.

    I think that Skadi will get utility through the Abyssal Hunters combined talents. In the endgame they will probably have at least 1 unit of each archetype and a massive combined buff. We already have + attack, aspd and regen. We will probably get more things like defense, redeploy time, etc.

    How I would personally buff these Operators:
    All AOE Casters: Slightly better ATK and ASPD, slightly lower DP costs, and better SP Costs and uptime.
    Skyfire: Either get rid of the massive attack interval reduction and reduce the increment and increase the splash range, or increase the stun and incremental the point where it’s no longer a loss in DPS.
    Gitano: Rework her Talent completely and slightly increase the duration of S2.
    Greyy: Give S2 an ATK increase in addition to its current effects.
    Dusk: Increase the duration of S2 slightly.
    Maotimaru: Give S2 a slightly longer duration and allow her to regain some HP during the skill’s duration.
    Franka: Increase the chance of her trait activation to 80%
    Flamebringer: Make S2 a SP Per Second skill and increase the ATK and APSD boosts, and further boost the increments gained from his Talent.
    Skadi: Give Talent 1 and even bigger Redeploy Time reduction, and give her S3 even more stat boosts and allow her to block an additional enemy.
    All Wide-Range Medics: Boost their ATK.
    Ceylon: Just rework her Talent in general and giver her something better. Boost the increment of her S1, as well as applying the trait ignore on her S2.
    All Chain Casters: Better ATK, lower the damage penalty to 10%, better SP costs, and slightly lower DP Cost.
    Passenger: Make Talent 1’s attack boost towards enemies with more than 80% HP permanent, remove the penalty for both S1 and S2, and boost the ATK increments for all skills.

    Flamebringer was my favourite unit in the game, but he was almost unusable. he needs his block count to be increased to 2 (preferably 3) and his second skill should increase over time with a low(er) cost

    Apparently the +1 Attack Range is literally an extra Column of range of the direction your operator is deployed so instead of a 3x3 range, you get a Sniper range with +1 attack range while the skill is active

    Her first skill makes her the best hp tank in the game, it's very much so her better skill. Primary used in tal stages to deal with fire balls and frostnova for yanking her.
    It's not great but it's very clearly her better skill

    I think the real buff is going to come in the form of equipment features.. The new features that will only be available to E2 operators which will turn some of them into viable units.
    We already got an example of how some summon Operators like Magallan gets bonus like one free summon doesn't take up the operator slots.
    Most likely, the buffs mention will just raise status.

    for aoe caster faster aspd and -3 or 4 cost with some new trait like the support guard is enought, duelist is pretty hard to buff i think they need to be lest cost more atk and some of them need to block2, passenger need to be double the uptime of third skill with +100 atk is fine, i dont think they will change a lot in term of skill, like the duration/with the cost is not that bad tho it can be like 20% better, mostima have her self battery, dusk is fine to me, duelist need more flexibility and FLAMEBRINGER need to block2 and some upgrade.

    For the field medics, the one thing they have over both healer archetypes is the Resist Buff which is by no means a weak buff. Cold status has clearly something to say against the use of resist lol. There's a lot of ways to improve them and honestly either increase the range of their heals, above single target healers, to justify keeping the 70% atk debuff OR just scrap that entirely since they already have the lowest atk which is below Aoe healers. Reduce all those weird lobng cooldowns and stat fixes to the archetypes in general will finally breathe new air for these largely unused archetypes. Like cmon, I srsly love skyfire and even have a 1/7 scaled figure of her and I can't even always use her since ejya and everyone else exists who can do her job better.

    just my opinions:
    gitano: maybe keep her stun but shortened to 7 seconds and she becomes invisible when stunned
    grey: for each enemy being slowed in his range, they receive extra arts damage equal to 10% of his atk
    skyfire: increase the no. of meteorite per each atk interval by 1 and reduce the dmg multiplier by 20%
    franka: just give her 0 block for her s2 and change her def part of the trust to atk
    flamebringer: to his talent, after reaching max stacks, he gains the ability to hit 2 enemies at once(cuz he has 2 swords) but every kill drains his stack and he will go back to hitting 1 enemy until he regains max stacks, rinse and repeat

      If those buffs aren't on release, no one is pulling. I'm personally not pulling for an operator just for a promise that they would be more playable in the future. That's a fat waste of orundum.

    My guess is that the operators are going to receive some generic stat buffs or so, because its all operators of specific categories. i e all duelists, all aoe casters etc.
    So i think this will be similar to how brawlers got a dmg buff when Mountain got released. I dont think they're gonna change specific characters kits.

    I doubt they will change each operator individually, they will probably change something about the archetypes in general, like reducing cost, lowering attack interval, or upping the damage. It would be cool if they go through each of these operators individually, but I kind of doubt it, especially with the legal situation of changes in China.

      My take is 6 stars get more personalized Buffs 5 stars get a little bit of personal buff then the rest just idk general buff I guess

      @@kyarumomochi5146 bibeak definitely isn't only for memes. She actually has higher dps than Chen because of her talent. Both have almost the same dps with 712dps (Bibeak E1 lvl70) and 720dps (Chen E1 lvl80). Chen only has a bit more dps because she has a higher level cap. Now Bibeaks talent increases her aspd and she now deals 890dps at pot 1. She's also a welfare operator so more people will have her at a higher potential than they will have Chen at. Paired with her stunlock capabilities thanks to her skill being spammable she's definitely not lacking behind Chen which often is only used as a helidrop which makes her use rather niche.

      @@kyarumomochi5146 Why are you comparing cutter to a 6 star? Cutter 1st skill is very good compare to her rarity, not even saying she is better than Ch'en. Bibeak and ch'en do 2 different jobs: crowd-control and burst damage so that's some nonsense you are blabbering about who's better right there. The only difference: Bibeak is crazy good in crowd-control while Ch'en is just powercreeped in the meta of burst damage. And I didn't even say Ch'en was bad at first place so you don't have to go rampage over me like that.

      @@kyarumomochi5146 chens burst being higher is only true when you would only burst once which yes, you would do when you helidrop her. Bibeak however has higher damage if you would burst twice or more during the stage because in the time it takes Chen to load up her S2 again bibeak can use her skill 4 times.
      This would result in Chen dealing 81.200 dmg and Bibeak dealing 81.360 dmg in total.
      (Both E1 Max, Max pot and S2M3)
      So saying that Bibeak is no where better than Chen isn't really true especially since Chens burst dmg can take a drastic hit if the enemies have high def which most lategame enemies have.
      Honestly I think both fullfil a different role while having high burst damage.

    I made a couple of videos about duelist guards and AoE casters before this video popped out on my recommendations. My opinions on why the subclasses need to be buffed:
    1. Though some AoE casters are strong, such as Dusk who has the ability to crowd-control, some ST casters such as Eyjafjalla easily outlasts the AoE counterparts. Leizi & Passenger has the same problem as well. (PS: Ifrit is also an AoE caster, situational but strong one.)
    2. Brawler guards (Mountain & Indra) tend to have higher DPS with lower DP compared to duelists. E2L80 Indra has higher DPS than E2L90 Skadi.
    3. For large range medics, they are not into meta, although Wisperain's talent is strong.

    So, I just came back to Arknights after about a year (around when Nian came out). Have there been any dramatic changes since then? I’m assuming there obviously is, since it’s been a year, but I don’t have the patience to scrounge TH-cam for videos on them

    Personally, while I think this might be a bit too much...why not change chain caster sp charge types to on attack, and have it so their bounces also add a charge?

    I think all the buff will be generic and shared across each archetype, so the AoE casters will have the save buff Probably a buff to ATSP or lower dp cost. The duelist guards may have their block count or dp cost changed, wide range medics will probably have their lowered healing trait taken away, while Chain casters could have their dp cost lowered, range increase, attack increase, ATSP increase, or hopefully all of the above, I think only a few operators will get personalized buffs.

    As someone who uses Leizi as an AOE Caster I say: She doesn't even need a buff. Her 2nd skill just melts enemies away. But it might be because I have promoted her to Elite 2.

    I think many people miss the mark with the buffs, I think, much like previous brawler buffs, is some kind of stats/DP/Attack interval adjustments to make the archetypes less niche. Imagine all AoE casters getting 2.5 instead or 2.9 attack interval and -2DP, duelist guards getting even more ATK or -10 deployment seconds...

    Its not going to be operator specific. My guesses are.
    Aoe casters get DP reduction cause they arent worth the cost.
    Dualist guards get more def, they usually pack tons of HP but not a lot of def. Making them easy to kill.
    Wide range medics lose the reduction they normally get to healing far away.
    Chain casters get a chain mechanic that doesnt get reduced per bounce.

      @@hoshii11 Single target medics already have more stats at base then wide range even without the ranged heal decrease. And we already dont care about only heals we care about skill utility more. Brease heals tons more then other aoe medics but isnt used cause the others bring better utlity and you never need that much heals. Having to heal more targets will mean you heal slower on top of their lower base atk means a full 30% heal reduction on far heals isnt needed.

    Am I the only one who thinks that Whisperain is fine as she is? I actually really like her second skill, reducing the attack interval for an unlimited duration. Then her talent is increased to 200% and it's good because even the operators she doesn't heal but have status resistance get's slowly healed. So Blaze get's healed because of her second talent; You can use Nian's S3 for example to give them status resistance, or pair her with Purestream who also grants status resistance to targets she has healed. This can help offset her reduced healing on further targets. I just really like using her in general. Probably my favourite medic operator.

    They also need to buff Chen to be honest. I have her but never used her because of the existence of Silverash and Surtr who can also function as a Nuker with significantly longer skill duration and higher overall DPS. If the devs can lower Chen's redeployment time (-30 sec imo will be good), I will now have the reason to use her over Silverash and Surtr if the enemies that I need to kill is not very strong.

    For me the way they gonna fixed the AOE casters or make them more viable is cutting their DP cost maybe around 20-30 not 27-30+ and also SP coat needs to be cut maybe 50% or 25% cut from the normal SP cost because for me at least when I use DP and SP cost always been my problem

    Skadi needs survivability.I mean it’s so weird that in game they described her as dps/survival but she doesn’t have any survivability. It’s so weird.Also even if she has big attack,she can’t survive without her support.Even tho they described or gave her dps/survival role.That is not survival😂

    Without Eyjafjalla skill 3, there’s a LITANNY of good aoe casters. But like….idk what the hell Yostar was thinking but Eyjafyalla will ALWAYS be the best pick for arts damage, PERIOD. She’s never been dethroned. Ever. And it’s cuz that skill 3 is so fucking broken. It’s a literal delete button that only CC enemies with additional risks can avoid dying from. With supporters and units like liskarm and ptilopsis, it doesn’t even take that long to recharge….

    They aren't gonna get buffs to their individual kits, but rather to their stats. I don't get what they were thinking when they made aoe casters. Aoe snipers get a longer range than st snipers, but casters for some reason get a reduced range. It makes no sense.

    Passenger’s talent makes do more damage to enemies over 80% hp for 3 seconds. His attack speed is 2.3 seconds, meaning that he can only take advantage of his talent one attack per enemy. *WHY?*
    Moving on, let’s point out the main problems of each archetype.
    AOE Casters: High cost, High SP cost, low Attack Speed, and small as fuck range.
    Duelist Guards: Piss poor defense, mediocre skills, and slow attack speed.
    Field Medics: Trait hinders them 90% of the time, Low attack, slow attack speed
    Chain Casters: High cost, high SP cost, low attack, and bad skills.
    Here are my possible solutions to fix these archetypes.
    AOE Caster: Lower their DP cost to around 25 on average. Lower their SP cost, there is no way in hell these skills should have a cool down of over a minute given their effects. Finally, either make them attack faster than single target casters, but lower their damage. Or give them Field Medic range, and keep the 3 second attack interval.
    Duelist Guards: Despite having 3k HP and above, their survivability is down right terrible. Their defense is so low that an extra 1k - 2k HP don’t mean much when the enemies are doing almost full damage. So give them a passive that makes them take -20% damage from all attacks. And *maybe* have their attacks inflict -10% defense for 3 seconds per attack
    Field Medics: Their attack speed is the same as single target and AOE medics, but have lower attack and trait cuts their healing by 30%. They heal too low too slow. So either remove that demerit or increase their attack interval.
    Chain Casters: Buff their attack stat and lower their DP cost or increase range. Their skills need less down time. (Like seriously, 30 sp cost for 4 second duration and 80 sp cost for a simple +Attack is ridiculous)
