Honestly, the concept of someone having the Death Note and not being ready for it, and being manipulated/betrayed by someone much more sadistic taking advantage of the note, could be a good story for a death note spinoff. But literally everything else here outside of that bone marrow of a story is poison.
I feel like people don''t realize this, but in this movie it seems like Ryuk is the being responsible for making everything writen happen. So because he can do 'magic' he is actually the one that makes all of the events happen at the end of the film, including the page conveniently falling and burning, Light surviving, and the ferris wheel breaking for no reason. '17 light is a joke. OG light only told one person who had already obtained another death note, and killed in his name, halfway through the anime, after having an instant evidence burner, giving himself a rock solid alibi, and eating a potato chip.
The death note doesn't kill people based on how probable the specified death is, just that if it's possible at all. Even if there was a small chance of Light falling from 47 meters and being fine, the death note would force reality to carry out what's written.

To me, the most impossible part was that Watari even made it to the Whammy House to begin with. Sure, it's now in New York rather than England like it was in the original series, but that's still a 43 hour drive, nonstop, from Seattle to wherever in New York the orphanage is, going through like 5 toll roads, several major cities, and dozens of speed-trap small towns. That leaves just 5 hours in the 48hr timelimit for sleep, eating, bathroom breaks, filling up on gas, or even just normal traffic delays. Presumably, if Watari only took a 4 hour powernap after the first full day of travel and subsisted entirely on whatever candy bars had been stashed in the glove compartment for L, it would be just barely possible to make it to the orphanage on time if he sped heavily the whole way and only stopped for brief gas fill-ups, but that's really straining credibility for obvious reasons. We're supposed to believe that Watari makes this trip, while exhausted, lacking in sleep, starving to death, and covered in his own excrement, never being stopped once by a police officer (which would have tipped off L and his team as to where he is), never once using a credit or debit card when filling up on gas (same as before), and never having even the slightest traffic jam. Moreover, from Watari's second call to Light, it's clear he spends a several hours blindly wandering through the forest looking for it, since he doesn't actually know the location. Realistically, the moment Light tried to write the convoluted nonsense where Watari somehow makes it to Whammy House and tries to hand over the name, he would have had a heart attack, because the trip was essentially impossible from the very beginning.

The story in the movie was so different it may as well have been different characters. It still wouldn't be very good, but it wouldn't have to stigma of being a completely failed adaptation. I agree the basic concept of Death Note is open to anyone finding the notebook somehow.
I sincerely hope Mob Psycho 100 (produced by Netflix) will fare better. So far, it has Japanese casting & director and I hope the budget will go into the FX.
13:56 Yeah, there may be a contrived reason for the ferris wheel to fall apart. But the page simply falling into the fire straight up BREAKS THE LAWS OF PHYSICS! There's an upward current of hot air right coming from the fire. And the page, taking the path it does, would go straight throug it and be swept up again. It's not like this couldn't have been made plausible (e.g. the page coming in more from the side), but they didn't even bother.
As someone who does not watch anime and didn't even originally know this was an adaptation of one, I enjoyed the movie for what it was. It wasn't breaking records, it's not in my favorites of all time, but it was entertaining and at the end of the day that's what movies are supposed to do. I do understand however that a fan of the anime might have wanted to gouge out their eyes watching this
I heard that there was supposed to be a second movie and while I didn't - and still don't - know if that rumor was true or not, I immediately try to throw up and was, unfortunately, unsuccessful. But hey, I also heard that there was supposed to be a remake to so... ?

Assuming you’re talking about Light falling from that height... Aerodynamics doesn’t mean much here. He’s a grown man being pulled down by gravity into the water, which has surface tension. Surface tension means that water sticks together (really well in fact) due to hydrogen bonds. Light hitting the water from this height is, in effect, the same as him landing on the ground. Nothing broke the surface tension of the water here, so it was like he essentially hit a solid surface after falling from a high height. But you can still explain aerodynamics if you want.

PREDICTOR OF THE FUTURE
I sincerely hope Mob Psycho 100 (produced by Netflix) will fare better. So far, it has Japanese casting & director and I hope the budget will go into the FX.
Tafami idk....looking at what happened to SNK, I have zero faith in it.
It was terrible.

Yeah, there may be a contrived reason for the ferris wheel to fall apart.
Just so you guys know, there is another live-action Death Note that is actually kinda cool
As someone who does not watch anime and didn't even originally know this was an adaptation of one, I enjoyed the movie for what it was. It wasn't breaking records, it's not in my favorites of all time, but it was entertaining and at the end of the day that's what movies are supposed to do.
I do understand however that a fan of the anime might have wanted to gouge out their eyes watching this
I have subscribed. the tropic thunder edit sold me.
I heard that there was supposed to be a second movie and while I didn't - and still don't - know if that rumor was true or not, I immediately try to throw up and was, unfortunately, unsuccessful.
But hey, I also heard that there was supposed to be a remake to so... ?
9:30 meanwhile at TH-cam headquarters....TH-cam is watching TH-cam is watching. I am SUSAN THE ALL POWERFUL. HHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
Looks like someone needs to buy all the Spider-Man No Way Home tickets
HEY IT'S THE GOBLIN FROM SPOODERMAN
I find it kinds funny how I share a name pronunciation with Kira
Rule # 1: Never watch anime adaptations.
Although I didn't think bleach was bad. 😂
0:48 - 0:49
"this is a masterpiece of fuck"
I laughed so had i cried
While the death note Netflix was kinda bad compared to the anime. I always thought Willem DaFoe would be an awesome voice for Ryuk. So in that and that Alone Netflix hit a home run. To bad the other parts of the Netflix version could not even hit the ball.
The guy from all those Crash course novels was a Naked brother.
Translated: The guy who plays Light (Nat Wolff) who is also in the fault in our stars (A movie based on the novel by John Green who can be seen on TH-cam’s “Crash Course”) is one of the kids I used to watch back in like 2008 when nickelodeon was still fire and had live shows like the Naked Brothers Band (he was one of the naked brothers).
Oh yeah I love it when blood comes out of your chest
OH YEAHHH
Most people that see this video probably read the title and just go _" Yeah.... We know...."_ And dont even click on the video
God speed spiderman
I like the Ethan and Hila clips, I enjoy your work pal and I can tell you put alot of time and effort into your videos, keep up the good work
Netfloc no.
5:38 wow, by the sound of it, knowing who she is suppose to make him smart? then Mia knows his name to show she is not dumb, then Light seems surprised that she knows so he needs to impress her......
No live action annime will ever work
The parasyte live action adaptation was pretty spot on
15:26 Possibly the best scene in this entire video.
*_Possibly_*
Do the tokyo ghoul live action movie equally terrible
I love how you skipped over him pissing his pants at ryuk the first time
"They use the character's names..." well. Kinda, anyway.
"the farthest anyone's ever got writing my name in the book was 2 letters" literally written in the book "do not trust riyuk"
I love you and your vids now 😂😂😂
Ryuk was there when the wheel broke and ryuk being present probably enhanced the power of the death note
Yes, i also enjoy mangos
We should start a petition to make a good death note movie and let William reprise his roll because he was the only good thing out of the Netflix adaptation
I didn't mind the movie
Watari was a Hanzo main, that's why he died...
I'm so happy that this didn't get a sequel
I thought the series was better. I hated how much they changed it.
Good news sir, it’s December 2021 and there is currently a new Spider-Man movie with William Defoe as green goblin again. You may now buy all the tickets.
Death Note(2017) the movie sucked
That music at the chase scene was excellent.
Hail Satan, this is Gold.
The ending scene was the only thing even reminiscent of the genius and complexity of the Anime series, despite its multiple plotholes and deviations from the Death Notebook's basic rules
Death note good anime extremely bad film
2:27 oh man, i haven't laugh so hard in a while. Amazing editing man :)
Oh great 40 MILLION DOLLARS spent on a movie that wasen't even good whats next something like a name with dab? o wait never mind thats a thing how about people dressing up as clowns and annoying people? really people did that to??? my god just kill me.
Not Netflix movies, just loose faith in EVERY live-action adaptation from an anime. EVER!
Weeboo
Ryuk: SPIDERMAAAAAAAAAAAAN! JUST TAKE THIS NOTEBOOK AND WE'LL GO EAT APPLEPIE!
i don’t think you understand how aerodynamics work
Please tell me how aerodynamics work
Film Herald oooh can i?
Go for it
Assuming you’re talking about Light falling from that height...
“Not very good” is an understatement.
2:28 Who else instantly recognized this speech from TROPIC THUNDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
So are you going to buy us a ticket to go see the new Spiderman movie or no?
