Amy was lonely and had built up walls to protect himself. Sheldon had friends and was just being himself. Amy changed as she made friends and became more self confident and happier as she fell deeper in love with Sheldon. Her new self confidence made her more attractive to others too. I really loved her story arch.
People complain that they completely changed Amy's character, that she started as a "Female Sheldon" and they turned her into something completely different, but I honestly see it as a natural progression. Sheldon had two siblings, and a warm, loving family, he was given every opportunity to socialize and rejected it, so the way he is, is honestly completely of his own choice. Amy on the other hand was an only child with a controlling and judgmental mother and a submissive father, she was not allowed to make friends and was ostracized in school. When Amy was given the opportunity to be friends with a 'cool girl' like Penny she jumped at the opportunity and gleefully buckled to high school-style peer pressure. Amy always wanted to be more social, but having lost out on building those skills in her youth it took someone like Penny to "bully" her into loosening up (I don't use the term bully to be mean, Amy admits Penny bullies her into doing what Penny wants to do, but that Amy appreciates it because she knows she'd never have the nerve to do that sort of stuff otherwise/ When Amy admits this, Penny immediately apologizes and offers to do something Amy wants to do).
personally i saw it starting off as business contract to keep her mother at bay, and it developed into generally romantic feelings that changed Amy for the better
People complain about everything - wheb characters lack development, but also when characters have development, apparently. It's like with bands - half are criticised for playing the same stuff for years and not having anything new and "original"... and the other half is criticised when they do something new that "their old stuff was better" and "they sell out"...
I think it’s interesting that Howard and Bernadette and Sheldon and Amy, both were introduced to each other through a blind date and they both bonded over their relationships with their mothers.
Raj’s and Howard’s looks are golden, particularly the first moment that they realized that their efforts might actually have yielded a conversation between Sheldon and Amy.
1:27 8 years later , in2018, Negasonic Teenage Warhead said the same thing in Deadpool 2 when she & Yukio reinvented Cable's time traveling device and gave it to Wade😁
Amy Farrah Fowler is my favorite fictional woman character ever. Before I watched this episode I thought I would find Amy boring but joke's on me. She also kind of inspired me to want a girlfriend like her or similar to me in personality
Of course I love this scene since it gives us Shamy, but I also love the incredible attention to detail which was so characteristic of TBBT sets. Look at how natural and realistic the coffee shop appears, even though it is only on screen for ~ two minutes. Kudos to the set designers! They really know their stuff.
I like the build up to this scene; Howard & Raj setting Sheldon up on a dating site unbeknownst to him & Raj blackmailing Sheldon with The Dirty Sock to meet Amy Farrah Fowler 😅😅😅
It’s a blink and you’ll miss it detail, but this scene states that Amy is agnostic, and that’s never retconned throughout the series if memory serves. That means we have one religious but non-conforming character- Raj- two passive religious character- Howard and Bernadette- two atheists- Lenard and Sheldon- and Penny who for all we know is a Wiccan because she never mentions going to church or temple or wears any religious iconography.
I'd say coming from Nebraska, she's most likely a typical Christian who doesn't feel the need to create a big show about it to everyone. It's actually a nice contrast to the others, esp Sheldon and Mary who are such opposed figures that it's a personality meme for them.
"I don't object to a deity, but I'm baffled by the notion of one that takes attendance." Precious! I wish I had had that put to me before I spent decades in Mormonism!
Looking back at the show it does get annoying how the writers became so reliant on developing characters through a relationship. It's nice to see the guys develop and get into stable relationships but at the same time, it can get tiring when the writers want to make the characters eventually go down the same route. Not all main characters need to be a in relationship, it's always good to have 1 member of your main cast that's ok with being single.
-What's up buttercup? -What's the word hummingbird? -What's the gist physicist? Penny asked those to Sheldon in the chair episode. Now you make up more stuff: - What's the question mathematician? - What's cooking good looking? - What's happening later alligator? - What's unclear engineer? - What's the blur philosopher? - What's the best chess? - What's the best 9LX?
Does Raj and Howard ever get credit for bringing these two together? I love how Amy personality changed through the seasons. But so unhappy of what they did to Raj character. Everyone changed for the better but they made him a joke. The only character of color.
I love how Amy Farrah Fowler was first introduced to us. She WAS awesome, but gradually her character arced into someone that was more like Mayim Bailik. 🤢🤮

The amount of character development she got through the seasons was crazy yet immersive.
Yes a two Sheldon-like personality would have ruined Sheldon's charm.
And partly ruined the show.
I preferred this Amy to lovesick Amy. The saddest thing is that she was constantly pining after a POS like Sheldon.
Amy was lonely and had built up walls to protect himself. Sheldon had friends and was just being himself. Amy changed as she made friends and became more self confident and happier as she fell deeper in love with Sheldon. Her new self confidence made her more attractive to others too. Crazy being the operative word.
1:21 "Good, god, what have we done." Howard & Raj's reaction are priceless 😂😂
I have always loved this line it's a classic
I wheezed🤣
I love those two, they’re incredibly talented. And Bernadette is hilarious
You basically found Sheldons soulmate
Came to write the same words 😂😂
"What have we done"
Unintentionally created a Nobel Prize winning duo
if they had a child, it would probably be a surfer dude hippie like spicilli from fast Times at Ridgemont high
"Good God, wat have we done?"
U guys created THE SHAMY!!!

💯
She went from being a female Sheldon to a better version of him, person-wise.
personally i saw it starting off as business contract to keep her mother at bay, and it developed into generally romantic feelings that changed Amy for the better
"I'm lucky that you found me before a cult did"

She's a female Sheldon with one key difference: she had an interest in experiencing normal life and that's what drives her character development.
0:19 I love how she's not even asking if that's Sheldon, she's just stating that he is
“Good God what have we done.” You have no idea, Howard! Hahahaha!
1:27
Howard: "This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them!"
Raj: "We should not have made this bargain."
Raj and Howard are like oh god there’s two of them now
She has transformed a lot. From She-Sheldon to a supporting girlfriend
And besties with Bernadette and penny
she was arguably worse than Sheldon at first
It took me a couple tries to realize you weren’t stuttering out Sheldon’s name there.
I think it’s interesting that Howard and Bernadette and Sheldon and Amy, both were introduced to each other through a blind date and they both bonded over their relationships with their mothers.
This is one of the more important moments in TV history.
"Dear god what have we done"
THEY'VE DONE A MIRACLE
Good god*
@@ranarman5866 there's two of them now
One of the greatest moments of sitcom history! Legendary!
This makes me smile and even laugh... nearly every time I watch it... Great writing... Excellent acting...
Raj’s and Howard’s looks are golden, particularly the first moment that they realized that their efforts might actually have yielded a conversation between Sheldon and Amy.
Thus, the beginning of Shamy.
She sure as hell got over that coitus thing.
Lol ikr 😂
They were so concerned with whether or not they COULD they never stopped to consider whether or not they SHOULD
1:27 8 years later , in2018, Negasonic Teenage Warhead said the same thing in Deadpool 2 when she & Yukio reinvented Cable's time traveling device and gave it to Wade😁
1:12 it was at that moment, Sheldon was in love
I’m so glad Amy changed throughout the rest of the series. Yeah, Howard and Raj created a monster in this episode.
"Good God, what have we done?" IMO, the best line in the entire series.
Normally one would call it a meet cute I’d say it was a meet strange😂
“Good god what have we done”
You guys gave Sheldon his whole future
"Good God! What have we done?!"
What have you done?! You created one of the best tv couples in history!! Thank you!!!!
"Good God, what have we done?"
Best part.
The look on Raj’s face kills me every time I see this scene 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Considering how her Life would've been had she'd not been appointed to meet with Sheldon, I'm happy for her and her Arc.
I love the character Amy
Amy Farrah Fowler is my favorite fictional woman character ever. Before I watched this episode I thought I would find Amy boring but joke's on me. She also kind of inspired me to want a girlfriend like her or similar to me in personality
1:07 Amy probably regrets this part
The chances of her using the term "coitus" when it's the only word Sheldon uses to describe sex
Howard's expression at the end is priceless.
Her and stewie have the best character development on TV tbh, glad they grew a personality aha
1:21
“Oh my god what have we done.”
What you done is that you guys gave Sheldon a major character development for the rest of the series.
How Sheldon met his son's mother.
Don’t paraphrase that name in vane, TBBT is a wonderful show and I love it but it will never ever come close to How I Met Your Mother’s glory.
Of course I love this scene since it gives us Shamy, but I also love the incredible attention to detail which was so characteristic of TBBT sets. Howard: Good god what have we done?…
Me: Performed a Miracle is what you did…
this is like when Ned Flanders met his Canadian counterpart.
Nothing better than a nice glass of tepid water
BRILLIANT writers!
1:13
The way that both put their hand like the same person
Perfect setup for what's to come.
There's two of them now
And from that point on.. Shamy came into all of our lives!!
At that moment it was love
Howard and Raj were the most perfect matchmakers ❤
Yeahhhhhhhh ❤
awwww a match made in the cosmos. lol
guys what episode
This was the best part
@1:18
Nice ending to the best season.
And thus, Shamy was born.
The scriptwriters of this show were really sharp and incredibly witty.
In fairness sheldon owes Howard and raj for giving sheldon his wife

What everyone thought at the time:
“THERES TWO OF THEM!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?”
Thank god they evolved amy over the years
''There is two of them '' That's what drove Amy to madness over the years.
this is like when Ned Flanders met his Canadian counterpart.
that's why Sheldon and Amy >>>>>>>>> Michael and Holly from the Office
The meeting saw round the world... thanks to that, a Nobel was conceived (and children too)
Going from being just a female Sheldon to someone who actually humbles him is crazy

ybaB yeh ✌️
Loved her in the early seasons she was in 😂 shame she became so annoying when she was so obsessed/psychotic with Sheldon
Good God what have we done?
Ruined the show, Howard
