Thank you so very much for teaching how to do the even peyote bead stitch with large pony beads and yarn! It is so much easier for handicapped me to see how this is accomplished. After years of doing one stranded bead strung jewelry, I am finally wanting to practice loom beading (which is fairly easy), and to learn this basic peyote stitch! Your video tutorial is so clear and I like that it is not rushed or too fast to catch onto! I am so grateful that you teach this for free--particularly since I am on a limited budget! I cannot say enough how much your tutorial has helped me finally to succeed at doing the peyote stitch! I hope you are well, and hope you will have an awesome Summer and Autumn 2021 !!! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!!!
THANKYOU THANKYOU!!! FOR THE BEST EVEN COUNT PEYOTE STITCH TUTORIAL EVER!!!!! YOUR USE OF THE BIG BEADS AND YELLOW YARN WAS JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO FINALLY UNDERSTAND AND LEARN♥️
Thank you for helping me get started again on an old project that I've had stashed for many years! Didn't think I would figure out how to get going where I left off but this little video saved the day!
THANK YOU so much for doing this and using the large beads and yarn.. Makes it so much easier to not only see what you are doing, but to understand.. Thank you again.
This is so awesome! I love the demonstration using larger beads to illustrate the pattern because I’ve seen others using regular seed beads and it is so confusing! I want to bead my eagle feathers and this helps me so much!! Thank you!!!
I taught my classes in Fountain Co. This exact same way, back in 1992. I still have the master copies I used and handed copies to my students. Easy to learn even and uneven numbered beads this way. Excellent tutorial!😉
Excellent tutorial. Our son just made Eagle Scout and we're making a ceremonial "eagle" feather for his arrow. We wanted to wrap the quill in peyote stitch but thought it may be too complicated until running across your video. We're going for it! Thanks again.
Omg you made it looks so easy using the big beads! As a first time peyote stitcher I really appreciate this method of showing how to do the first 2 rows! ❤
great idea on helping learn peyote stitching! I've watched a lot of tutorials and this one help immensely! i didnt have to squit to see what bead you were going through!
This is an excellent video to learn peyote stitch. I did the peyote stitch in high school and have since forgot it. I am beading a keychain for my highschool son and this was so easy to follow. Thank you for doing a great video!!
Keeping that tail is a great idea, I have been beading for 40 years or so, I was taught different, from my auntie, during the 1970s , old native way, but it’s very different and hard. I’m going to give this a try on my sons eagle feather, he wants it for his car. Thank you for your post.
I am so glad I found your video! All the others I couldn't see exactly which bead people were going through because the beads were too small or the people's nails were in the way. Now I get it and I get how to step up for the next row. Your a genius for using the large beads, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this tutorial I just started to learn this patter today and your video helped me understand the gaps in which I found myself. Much appreciated stay beautiful.
Awesome tutorial video!! Patient, step-by step - straight to the point- easy to follow! Very good! I always wanted to learn this technique, now I got it! Keep up the good work!
Thank you thank you! I want to bead my daughters eagle feather for graduation and I didn't know what I was doing. I am Comanche and really appreciate your help. I live far from my family and you have helped me stay Indian in the city. Nadja
Thanks for making "even peyote stitch" look so simple. The use of the pony beads really allows one a superb view regarding stitch & pattern & informing your viewers the importance of the need for the tail was great. @ 8:36 you identified the space as a "valley", I have also heard it described as "a stitch in a ditch" which I thought was a very cute way to describe filling in any "valley" or after "stepping up" finishing that easy third row. Also, I was taught that if I'm using 11/0 beads you need to go down a needle size e.g, size 10 bead needle preferably short not long & so on, any thoughts on that rule of thumb? Again thanks for making this look so easy & fun!
Hi Renee, just subscribed; lovely tutorial for beginners, I like how you used the bulky kids beads and the thicker thread just to make your moves stand out. Thanks!
this is an amazing video! This is my 1st time beading and I'm trying to bead a lighter using seed beads. I watched a couple other video before yours and couldn't figure beading out. When I found yours I was beading right along with you. I got half way thru my lighter an that's where the problems started. The knots were too big and not staying tied when pulled on.
I saw many videos but not able to understand but after watching your tutorial I understand the basic technique because you used big size bead to understand Thanks
I must say your tutorial one and two are very informative, I love how you use the large beads. Can you show how to bind off when making jewelry like necklace or bracelet. Thanks for sharing😊
THANK YOU! Doing this with the pony beads is priceless! However...for those of us with lousy monitors....could you perhaps, all this time after, please redo this video in higher resolution (or reload, or whatever) and ditch the music? :) Heading for Part 2 with anticipation; this is the first tutorial I've seen that makes any sense at all!
Awesome! Good luck with that. I hope it turns our great. Take your time and be patient with yourself. That's what the old grannies told me. Be kind to yourself when you make mistakes.
Zippy DoDah I would use cut beads if I had them. I have a ton of rounded beads so I am using them up before I allow myself to buy any cut beads. Although there is a a powwow this weekend and I might pick up a few bunches of bead strands in order to do some videos on cut beads. Seed beads do vary in shape and size. I am not that great at knowing the sizes by eye and unfortunately my beads never came with the sizes on them so I can't really help with a tutorial on how to recognize what is what. But I am sure there are some videos out there on it. Etsy.com also offers many sellers of both kinds of beads. I think that when I do need cut beads I will probably just buy from there.
I went out an bought bead string and I can't get my seed beads over the knot! much less get the knot thru a seed bead that already has string from another row already in it. It's a no stretch nylon size 2. and the knots don't stay if I pull too tight. any suggestions??
indomexi123 when you put thread through eye of needle, tie the two ends together. do not knot thread near eye of needle...okay essentially knot the tails of thread
I don't know why people insist on playing annoying noise in the background anyway when people are trying to concentrate on what is being said. Great instruction though!!
SO GLAD you used the large beads to demonstrate!! Thanks!
Finally a tutorial I understand! I've been looking forever to learn this stitch!
Hands down the best instructional video on peyote stitch I’ve saw!
You’re a great teacher, patient and a sweet voice😃thank you. Cant wait to practice.
I am barely in and already I think it's one of the sweetest welll made videos I've ever seen. Thanks forbthe close up for sore eyes.
I love that you used big beads so we can actually see what you are doing. Thanks for that!

Isnt it the higher the size, the smaller the needle? I heard if you use size 11/0.. You use size 12 bead needle?? Lol Im still learning.
Using the big beads really does make learning easier. I do the same thing when I am teaching crochet. I use a huge hook and thick wool yarn.
Thank you, you made it so much easier to understand this stitch. 😊👍🏼💜💜💜
Best demonstration I have ever seen thank you!

hi can you do other stitches beside peyote ?
What is the keychain called and where can I find those? Also what would you say is the best size seed bead to make a keychain or lanyard?
Hate gonging bells , but lesson great the lady is clear and good in instructions
Would it be better to use cut beads vs. seed beads? The latter seem to vary widely in their shapes, so I was just wondering...

Do you have a tutorial of an odd count peyote stitch?
How do you do the end when all done
Love this informational

The music is too loud and I'm having trouble hearing you.

I don't know why people insist on playing annoying noise in the background anyway when people are trying to concentrate on what is being said. Great instruction though!!
