- The Toyota Innova, the pambansang photo bomber of the Philippines, finally gets an update and it's gonna be called the Zenix. It will be sold alongside the previous generation Innova and it will come in two variants, the Zenix 2.0V which has a petrol engine and the 2.0Q Hybrid. They're priced at 1.67 million and 1.95 million respectively. In this video, we'll talk about what's new in the new Innova and we'll compare the differences between the two variants

The base V trim is quite a pretty reasonable buy, but for the price it would have been better if Toyota didn't skimp on the airbag count. The gas engine here will also be more efficient and refined than the rather thirsty and vocal engine of the discontinued gasoline Innova.
However, I am most interested in the hybrid. As far as I can tell, it is the only proper hybrid 8-seater under PHP2M, which puts it on a class of its own. I don't think the extra fuel economy of the hybrid will be enough to offset the almost 300k difference between it and the gas version overtime especially when the battery will need to be replaced, but that's just a guess since I didn't do the calculations. But I think for that extra 300k, you are not just paying for the better efficiency but also for the more quiet and refined experience, the extra features, better safety etc so I think the price jump is worth it. Then again, it's quite hard to find a direct comparison since it is in a class of one for now.
As the Zenix, it'll be a seperate model from the Mk2 Innova, which is still currently assembled and sold in our country. The Zenix will likely be the new comfort-oriented MPV, while the Mk2 Innova will be targeted towards commercial fleets. Although it has no sunroof (which is a huge *zonk* like what Joe Raiti would always say), it still has captain seats, just like the Hiace SG.
Toyota markets this as the Zenix to avoid confusion with the previous Innova currently being sold here and also the previous Innova didn't use a Daihatsu platform as it was based on the ladder-frame IMV platform shared with the Hilux and Fortuner.
Hi i never said that the previous innova was based on a daihatsu platform. I said toyota's recent models like the avanza, veloz and raize are based on a daihatsu platform

Despite not having the sunroof, I really think both trims are priced competitively . The V variant is actually well equipped for its price, especially when compared to the base fortuner G A/T (which is more expensive) and the older Innova G A/T(priced almost same as the Zenix V). People may say the base engine is not good, but what most reviewers dont tell is its not the same engine that was in the older gas innova. The old 2.0 was rated around 136hp while this new one is at 174hp which will give a big difference in terms of overall drivability and its more fuel efficient too. And toyotas strategy to differentiate this to the older innova is a must, as the old one is a proven people carrier, while the new one is more of a comfortable cruiser.
lol no. It's not priced competitively given na dalawa lang yung configurations or variants na available currently. Walang variant na may sunroof, walang variant na may bench type 2nd row (8-seater). And what I fear is baka pag dinagdagan nila yung options on a later date, mas lalo lang tataas yung price nung new variants. Well I hope etong mga naunang variants yung bumaba yung price.
@@ji1ro0 id say competitively priced cause look at its main competition. Its not from other brands, but rather from the same brand, innova and fortuner (3rd & 4th best selling car in the ph). Most buyers cross-shopping in that price range 1.5-1.9m will now have another option in the Zenix.

Don't compare Zenix with other toyota cars that are in different categories, instead compare it with other brands of the same category. Consumers ang talo sa ganon kasi iisang manufacturer lang yung reference mo ng pricing. Para mong kinompare yung price ng iPhone sa price ng iPad, at hindi sa ibang phone LOL
EDIT: I can agree with comparing it to the 2nd gen Innova, pero it's still overpriced considering na yung inimport dito e hindi pa yun yung top of the line variant ng Zenix na available sa ibang countries

costs 180K now. Also better to understand the

are considered under warranty or not. Resale value ahould be considered say after 5 years or more as high cost of battery replacement possibly to be made by buyer.

Hi this is a hybrid and as such cannot be charged externally. The battery is charged by the gasoline engine or by kinetic energy when you're slowing down or braking. If you want a hybrid that can be charged externally, you should look for a plug in hybrid (PHEV) such as the tiggo 8 phev and the mitsubishi outlander

the base variant is a bit overpriced for its features 🤔 vs its competitors in its price range. they also removed the drls on base variant lol
TMP always cheaped out the features when they bring it on the ph market. problem is ph consumers buy it anyways thats why they think they'll still buy it with a lot of missing features from my / indo market.

That's always been my question. How come Japanese and Korean cars have lots of features in other countries, especially the USA, but they skimp on the features in the Philippines?
There are no competitors who has captain seats at that price range. Even the new Geely Okavango which I would say is the closest competitor is priced between 1.5-1.7m php. For most Filipinos they would buy the Innova. It has decent specs and something I would not expect in the base variant including Auto brake, auto hold and power tailgate. Furthermore, in comparison to the Fortuner G which would be the closest priced, a comfort oriented would suit some buyers needs better. My family is looking for a car with captain seats that doesn't break the budget but has good reliability, efficiency, and has decent technology.

Tanggapin nalang natin na mukhang pera nalang talaga ang TMP, gusto lang imaximize yung profit dahil ang mindset ng mga pinoy e "sa Toyota tayo para reliable".

Mahirap kasi ipaayos hybrid lalo na replacement batteries nun napaka mahal.
Pag mag gasoline engine ka dapat handa ka sa price difference ng diesel at gas. Yung 2013 Innova G 2.0 gas namin nasa 390km lang ang full tank and so far nasanay na kami doon kasi alam namin na ganoon sya simula nung pinili naman syang bilhin. Etong bagong 2.0 nila can go 695km in full tank. I like gas engines kaso problema ko dito sa V variant nila is 7 seater lang.
If you can afford to buy a car close to 2M, you dont think about fuel consumption and resale value. 5-7 years lang, palit na.

💯 Agree. More trouble than they're worth esp if you keep vehicles long term, the rubber gaskets and motor eventually wear out or require some maintenance at the very least. Also makes the cabin harder to cool during summer 😰

Kaso parang underpowered na sya ang baba ng torque
Halos ganyan din torque nung gen 1 2.0 variant. Pero mas magaan yan nasa 1,500 kg lang. Parang pinalaking Xpander/Rush/Avanza. Definitely not the Innova we used to know.
The gen 1 innova 2.0 AT we currently own can go only around 390km full tank. This 2.0 V variant with a direct CVT can go 695km in full tank and it is lighter. Yung Gen 1 namin kaya umakyat ng mount Kalugong sa La Trinidad from dead stop uphill climb so I assume mas kaya nito. Need ng diskarte sa pag drive ng gas engine, and I would say the less noise and vibration gives the comfort for a long drive.

@@ferdidiaz5329 In general, a small displacement turbocharged engine can only go so far, while a medium/large displacement naturally-aspirated engine remains more reliable over time due to its "relaxed" nature. It's all about finding the right balance between output and engine stress.
