There’s so many aspects to this battle that make it so much more fucked up. The flavor text, oh god, the flavor text. Normally it’s something like “smells like mustard seed” or “the spiders do a choreographed dance.” For this fight? “The boogiemen stand at the edge.” “The boogiemen prepare their next team attack.” “Harry tries to distract me while Larry looks for an escape route.” “Harry and Larry call to someone ‘behind me.’ I’m not falling for it.” “Smells like fear.” “Like two animals backed into a corner.” “Harry and Larry share desperate looks.”
Also, at one point, Harry starts desperately feeding Larry pocket lint since he’s running out of healing items: “Harry desperately feeds Larry some pocket lint!”
We need more things like THIS in geno routes. Not "funni and silly character becomes serious and vengenful" but instead "funni and silly character becomes serious and completly and utterly frightened"
The chilling part of this is that it feels eerily real. The way you have to hunt down the victims, compared to set encounters. The solution of PUSHING Larry off instead of the fade-to-dust violence we're used to. The way Harry just falls silent. I remember the realization I had that "I KILLED them." This scene was great at capturing the essence the Ruthless route, for being, well, ruthless.
A comment i read once made a very good point about these 2. In Geno, they stay the same cartoon characters, and this is what gets them killed. Their inherently jokey nature like getting stuck needing to move the piano and forgetting their phone? It all leads to their death. They are comedy characters in a horror movie, and that sealed their fate.
Fun fact undertale Yellow did a similar concept to this fight with Axis, where in genocide you're the one chasing him and trying to kill him to the point where he's forced to defend himself in his boss fight
@@Military_base01 With Yellow, you aren’t defining the main character. Clover already has a reason for each route. Justice or judgment. That’s what makes it morally acceptable. It’s Clover’s ideology vs the Underground’s.
in deltatravellers genocide route its kinda similar to this but the change is that in the dog duo fight you can kill dogamy or dogaressa then spare one of them so the player gets punished with a secret death scene
I really love the concept of this battle, that their names are always yellow meaning they don’t want to fight, they just want to live. And man, when you push Larry and only Harry is left alive, the fact he doesn’t even want to be spared anymore it’s heartbreaking, bro’s like: “Just kill me already”, freaking sad.
Not exactly, the reason why these fangames are so high quality is because they took a lot of time and efforts, single fights take way less time than full fangames, so they'll continue being made way more often
the thing i love the most is to see how dialogues and descriptions change in each route, seeing how in pacifist things are like "a carrot, guess will see" or something like that and then in geno is like "useless" or "waste of time", like in papyrus fight with the "lets get this done over with"
The four horsemen of falling off a cliff and *_fucking_* dying: Larry from TS!Underswap. Luigi from Undertoad. Alphys from Inverted Fate. And Sans from Undershuffle.
@@BlastMaster22-z3kDamn, i forgot about him. *_Well, to be fair, almost nobody remembered him._* [[[[Sorry, my comments got paused by Yt so I'm using an alt]]]]
Wow, its almost like giving a reason to be attached to a character makes you feel more attached to them...... This wasn't some end-all fight. This was an execution.
We need more fan games that don’t act like undertale revolves around sans, this and undertale yellow have shown me this and it’s almost like a breath of fresh air.
a breath of FRESH air? lol honestly sans au’s have stopped registering to me so it’s really just green sans that comes to mind when i think of sans ut fangane
Green sans is fun unlike the others but we really need to atop revolving around sand (ehe) sand is not the main focus improve your aus au creators if i ever made an au i would separate them from all the other aus
I love how the game handled the Sans fight. I died a ton so I don't know how many people know this, but his dialogue for his first phase actually changes every time you get past it: First go through: he pulls in the classic fan-theory of him being a universe-hopper, complete with gaster references... and then reveals it was all pulled from a comic, and he was just buying time. A very clever way of subverting and playing on fan-theories, very enjoyable. He even says later that it's possible some of it was true, and you'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out. Second run: He spins a story of how he's from a planet of Sans-es where all the do is tell jokes and do stand-up, right up until a group of people came in and started analyzing him and the others. Poring over everything he does and says, trying to find meaning in every joke, trying to find what hidden motives he has, while completely ignoring what he's actually trying to tell them. A very nice reference to the people who act like the game revolves around Sans while completely misinterpreting his actions in most of the game. Third run onwards: he drops the act completely when he sees it isn't working and asks why you're still trying to beat him if you know he's just buying time, and concludes that the only reason why you'd still be here is because you want to know what happens when you beat the really hard Sans fight. A cool reference to the sheer number of bullshit Sans fights and how the player must just be still going out of stubbornness, which doubles as going back to how he acts in the original game. Sorry if this was a long one, but I just played through it and I love this entire game so much. It and UTY have earned a huge place in my heart. I need to rant about it somewhere
@@axelinedgelord4459 Even DustTrust is something more than "Sans Fight" even those that are not Full-Length Game. They still convey feelings, they remind you that you are responsible for everything that is happening. These feelings, for me, are conveyed in the form of a song, like "Papyrus Encounter: Lament" which judging by the Lyrics (and the TH-cam Upload intro) Papyrus is probably the one who suffered the most.
@@DefinitelyCynTrust Tbh Green Sans is a sans au but it actually has nothing with a Sans lmao Hes actually just look like sans and a meme character thats it. Same with Wiki, wiki actually isnt a sans. he can shapeshift and mostly prefers sans rp
@@cyanideytcuriousseadoggo I would love to see Chara maybe pulling off something similar in Deltatraveller should you do something similar in Obliteration, due to the fact that they and Kris have similar conflicting feelings about the soul (as Chara states they don't want to hurt anyone anymore during Ruthless and breaks the bell and hammer game out of desperation to have control over themselves)
The fact this fight is completely optional but we have to do it because we "need to see what happens" is fucked up you need to become an even more souless killing machine i wonder what was going on on charas mind during this whole fight no...that wasnt a fight that was straight up an erradication
It is possible that Chara hated to do what they were made to do due to a dialogue choice saying that they "Don't want to hurt monsters anymore" (before, presumably "the player" changes it)
I think a big reason is because of how the game paints it... you can avoid chasing them at the start and just go to the village, are given multiple options to turn back around once you corner them, and during the fight, they are already and completely separable..... I don't think there could have been nay more opportunities added in that can allow you to turn back and let them live... if this silly, ultimately harmless duo dies, it's because YOU killed them... and you can't even blame button mashing or being mindless, because killing them requires you to go into your act command.
The sudden sink in feeling a felt in my chest as I heard Larry's wail when he went over a cliff... No other enemies in any fangames or even canon Undertale made me hesitate in their respective Genocide Routes. Not Toriel, not Papyrus, not Ness and Paula, not Deltatraveler's Lesser Dog. That fight actually made me feel horrible. Somehow, inexplicably, I felt bad about killing some pixels on a screen.
One key thing to note here, which alot of fangames do which is just an exhausting trope at this point, is that Harry doesnt fight back after you push Larry. He doesnt go all beast-mode angry and powered-up, he just sits there and accepts his fate. He hopes you'll just make it quick, he doesnt even wanna look at you when you end him. ALSO WHY WAS LARRY'S FALL SO SMOOTH AND WELL-ANIMATED OUT OF THE BLUE?? 4:31 The freeze frame when he's looking up for 5 frames before falling down looks so unnerving
Undertale Yellow kinda does something similar with Axis, but it's not as poignant for a few reasons. Axis, while still giving EXP, is just a robot. Plus, he's kind of hard to care about when he normally spends the whole time trying to kill you without getting a moment to actually get to know him or see his good side. Him acting in self defense is quite new, but TS!Underswap did this a lot better, because the characters are likeable, living and killing them feels less deserved while being more messed up. Axis killed a kid, granted a violent kid, but these guys are just rather harmless crooks. You shove one of them off a cliff, causing the other to just...give up.
I mean, in Axis’s defense, he had done it accidentally in a way that was not supposed to happen. Hell, if it was blocked from his memory banks that means it likely traumatized him. (Ik he’s a robot but he’s definitely advanced enough to have some level of consciousness.)
If you piece together all the evidence from every run and read between the lines, I'm not convinced the integrity kid was actually violent. Neutral at worst.
a friend of mine was able to make it even worse by thinking of this idea, basically if you push larry off the cliff and see harry destroyed because he saw his friend die AND SPARE HIM (which in ts!underswap you can't do after you push larry) harry will jump off the cliff because you didn't finish him off
OH GOD. I was honestly worried that would happen on my playthrough, imagine even if you tried to kill him in the middle of your attack quick time event he jumps off before you can kill him.
I don't want to watch ruthless route gameplay footage because I know I'll get scared but that is just so haunting. It's the way you can literally see the fear even if they try to look a little tough. Not to mention how Chara doesn't mention anything about how they were forced to literally push a mostly innocent person to their death, to the point where they can't even get their dust collected for a funeral.
Larry wasn't entirely innocent. He and Harry did taunt and mock Chara to their face, and then tried capturing them during the dummy chase They were bullies in a way, but you're right in that they were still innocent
thanks for putting this into motion and diving deeper into this it really shows how much people can change circumstances. and how your choices do have a play in something MUCH more as they do matter of course. these two are fighting for their lifes and a way to get out of this and they are thinking of things they can do to escape and you can even spare them YOU don't have to kill them and they never wanted this to happen however it just makes things very dark. and that changes the mood alot rather than sans or papyrus fighting you cause you killed someone they loved. being filled by grief. also you should touch fighting paula and ness in deltatraveler i'd like to see your opinion on the matter, this is all i have to say on the matter however good job touching on this.
SPOILERS FOR DELTATRAVELER!!!!!!! While it is fucked up that we're killing literal CHILDREN, unlike Harry and Larry, Ness and Paula are choosing to fight us. They're also incredibly powerful opponents as well, so it's not quite as bad as the Boogiemen.
@@arloklenczon6811You also got to consider the fact that Kris, Susie, and Noelle don’t want to fight Ness and Paula. The only reason this fight even happened is because you as the player forced these three teens to go on a murderous rampage. All to see what would happen.
@@arloklenczon6811 you do however get to see how much worse you are than all the characters in the game, with Susie and Noelle refusing to deal the killing blows and Susie often refusing your prompts to attack at all
Honestly, i like the fact that the evacuation neutral route exists, it makes the game feel more alive, rather than making it so that everybody magically forgets what you did the moment that the geno run is aborted/everybody doesnt care if you grind until you get "but nobody came" even through you never started the geno run previously (yes ts!us has a evacuation neutral run variant started by going geno mode on the second area after doing the neutral/pacifist route on the first area.)
Btw, i feel like the ness and paula fight hits harder if you've played earthbound before. Like, you'd think that the battle would hit harder for a person that used to earthbound back when it first released than it would for somebody who hasnt.
This isn’t as messed up as you think it is, it just FEELS like it because you do it to significant characters. I’d say the various betrayal kills in base UT (even with the normal monsters) are more tragic and messed up. Imagine it, you’re just some random snowdrake going about your day when you encounter this human. You’re a bit hostile bcuz of the “only needing one soul before monster kind is free” thing, but then they start trying to befriend you, genuinely trying. You eventually think “hey, this human doesn’t seem so bad, lets NOT fight and be friends instead”, you stop fighting and think to yourself how nice it is that you’ve gotten yourself a new friend, a genuine friend who laughs at your bad jokes and enjoys your company. Then they stab you, inflicting fatal damage. As you start slowly turning into dust, you stare at them and just think “why? They were supposed to be your friend, why would they do this?”, they just stare back, looking at you with their cold, unfeeling eyes. You never get an answer, leaving you confused as the remaining life left in you is slowly snuffed out.
Yes, but in a story, it doesn't really matter if a thing is messed up, it needs to feel bad for it to have impact, especially for cold and unfeeling people like this dude
@@minestar2247 Ok, Undertale Red has those. There’s the standard betrayal kill there (one of the saddest i’ve seen in UT ever). And there’s a route where you nearly kill her, and you let her kill you, effectively leaving her to slowly die in some corner of Waterfall.
Something I would have wished to happen is for there to be a spare option after killing Larry, and if you spare Harry, Harry will stay there and once you've moved on to a certain area, he will have jumped off the cliff and died. You wouldn't know that, though. Maybe I'm just psychopathic, but that would make this fight extra better.
absolutely agree, this fight is one of the very few that has made me feel nasty like I was going through this for the first time and I was sitting there like "damn, that's fucked up." the only other one that's done that is snowgrave berdly as that does a very similar thing where you could turn back at any moment but you don't
something I noticed is how you don't hear any sound after you push Larry, you also don't get EXP from him really makes me wonder if he's going to reappear again
They really made the game have life like Undertale 😭 tbh i also liked that the game isn't so focused on sans and the fight with him is actually cool bc of the small features
bro imagine if they make it so that larry didn't die, but also doesn't know that harry died and they only know in the future area because of crossbones. that'll be even more depressing
I think the only way a ‘omg i need to defeat you for friends!!!’ can work is if it is just a character’s will to fight for the greater good or just the character snapping, letting go, actually showcasing a character’s attempt to defeat you for them instead of a last-second powerup otherwise it’s gonna be some crappy situation like becoming op bc of it *cough cough any disbelief extended phases/last breath extended*
What also makes this game hit harder is that its all in 1st pov, it like i can feel chara....if it even is chara. When they say "crossbones is in my way" its creepy, its....idk Or when they say "again" repeatedly in the crossbones battle. I can tell this game is going in a direct maybe similar to deltarune soul-lore wise but ill wait before i say more. When i did figjt first run i immediately caught on what was gonna happen when they said "Larry is close to the edge" or smtg I just went....oh....oh no... (Edit - Also this fight being at a point where you're suppoed to get a calming memory is depressing)
There’s actually a lot of implications Larry survived the fall. Apparently I heard the battle only adds 1 to your kill count. That and the fact we don’t hear Larry hit the ground or dust means he might actually show up in the future.
If that happens i will be soooo happy. LIKE YES LET LARRY SHOW UP IN FUTURE CHAPTERSSSS Honestly I want koffin k to show up in future chapters too since we didn’t get much of him in the genocide route
I know i'm 4 months late but there was one thing i noticed and would like to add. In 5:02 when you land the last hit at Harry, it gave a absurd amount of damage, in the game lore, it is said the monsters damage and defense get stronger or weaker depending on it's will to fight. Harry saw his best friend be killed right in front of his eyes, he lost all will to survive. Knowing this, it made this scene much more messed up
[SPOILERS AHEAD] Thank you for making a video about this. Genocide routes in fangames have been getting way better I’ve noticed. TS!Underswap’s is easily the best, though. Not only does it have more unique fights than most genocide routes, it does it in a way that doesn’t feel over-saturated. All of those fun mini games in the Village? All of the hilarious moments and references in Koffin Keep? The entirety of the Burgerpant storyline? All of these things that gave the game so much life and made them so fun. They’re all completely gone in this route, and the game makes sure you KNOW that it’s all your fault. And yet it feels like it never goes overboard with it. As fun as Deltatraveler is, I definitely feel like the Geno route goes a biiiiiit really overboard by section 3. Oh my gosh especially cancelling the route during section 3 what is the logic what is the dialogue??? Undertale Yellow’s genocide route did have some sad parts, like the deaths of Dalv, Lone Star, Martlet, and the entirety of the Steamworks. Honestly, though? I felt it was way less sad and more…kind of awesome? Not just the fights but the story of Clover trying to get revenge on monsterkind for the death of the humans does feel shockingly realistic. TS!Underswap makes sure all of the life and personality and all the fun is sucked from the world on this route. And to complete it, you have to do this entire fight that you just talked about…scratch that, it barely qualifies as a fight, it’s just an execution. I don’t even know how TS will top this scene in the Ruthless Route, and honestly, they might not need to at this rate. I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty sure I shed a tear when I first saw this scene. That’s how you KNOW you’ve made a good “evil route” in a video game.
Hey,thanks for this comment, you made it alot easier to make my future geno analysis videos of those games,I do think deltatraveler goes a bit too far with the geno route meanwhile Yellow, despite having an absolutely great one does it pretty wrong by making it an actually fun route to go through, which it shouldnt be,its like the game is rewarding you for it. Ts underswap's geno meanwhile does it better than them for the reasons you listed,I cant wait for it to continue!
really gives off the feeling that they are literally fighting for their lives out here it really pulls off that unstoppable force that the player is in this game he gives that same feeling as in axis yellow
It's the first fight that shows characters backed into a corner and desperately attempting to survive by any means. Undyne the Undying exists for justice. Sans exists to wear you down physically and mentally. These guys are simply clawing at the precipice of death and trying to scare the human off. It's truly horrifying and takes the dual-character interactions present in Undertale to another level.
Truly the best fangame. Ya never truly realise it until somebody.else points it out, but no other game does that. The closest we've gotten in any other game was undertale's Wimsun, even then they fight on their own accord. And every fan game other than TSunderswap basically does nothing to make you feel bad for the characters. No real sense of fear, probably because all other fan games just wanna talk about "human did too many genocides so now Sans destroys universes and stuff just to kill the one human"
Someone probably mentioned this already, but on Frau's video of the boogiemen's ruthless route fight, I saw a comment talking about hypothetically sparing Harry after killing Larry. Someone replied saying there's a comic about that outcome, so I looked it up. The comic (in case you don't wanna find it or just wanna know what happens in it right here) has Harry grabbing Chara and yelling something along the lines of "WHY STOP AT HIM?! WHAT DID HE DO TO DESERVE THAT?! WHY THE SUDDEN CHANGE OF HEART?!" then he yells that maybe Chara should join Larry, and then... Well, Chara pushes Harry off the cliff because Harry was gonna throw Chara off the cliff. The last page of the comic shows Harry turning to dust and laying next to Larry's hat, ending the fight the same way it does in the game, only Harry gets pushed off the cliff after Chara tried sparing him. In a nutshell, the comic is kinda Harry going "beast mode" and trying to throw Chara off the cliff, but he fails and gets killed the same way his best friend was.
(The comic is on Tumblr by the way) one of the comics hashtags is: “Larry is technically dare in the last panel if you think about it“ Which is just really sad
Cool video reviewing this battle, it is really unsettling. But on 5:20, you should've changed text color or something else to prevent white text on white background, because that's unreadable
The scariest thing for me is how desperate they are. The flavor text: “Harry desperately feeds Larry some pocket lint.” It makes it feel like, well, a battle. They’re running out of options and time, so they have to try ridiculous concepts to survive.
I think the issue with og undertale is that in a lot of ways it’s way too “videogame-y”, it either doesn’t pull any punches in making its characters have a lot of depth with undyne or sans or it just falls kinda flat. I wish other minor characters had more interactions like this, first that comes to mind is mad dummy just dying after it becomes happy, muffet being instakilled too. I think the purposeful “bad design” the og geno route is so famous for could’ve still been elaborated on better, make the characters more human. Imagine if in a last ditch effort to escape muffet climbed onto a web just for you to cut it with a knife, making her fall down. Just a thought.
Ah, this fight, a very well-made fight made to make you feel so evil and truly villainous! Seriously, the fact that you have the option to back out of it even before the fight itself begins... the small surprise you get when you see the option to push larry... and of course, the events after larry's death. You won, you've got harry right under your fang, ready to be taken down like everyone else! Truly, a masterfully-crafted fight, i really hope we get more entertaining fights like this later on!
I'm going to be honest, when i was doing the ruthless and i was in this fight,i tried too hard to kill both boogiemens, but when i decided to act on both of them and i saw the "push" option on Larry i used that option....i didn't expect that i had to literally push Larry down a damn cliff.Anyways, this fangame is still perfect.
bro imagine if you could push harry off, then larry sees that and goes last breath sans phase 99999999999999999999999 on you and dunks you so hard, that would truly be swapped.
This is very sad.The creepy part is that u have to hunt these goofers unlike other fights with just encounters. And the fact the u can use act to kill larry by straight up pushin up feels...wrong.Unlike most bosses, where they fight out of justice, even when they don't,they fear ya.Like LITERAL fear.Whats worst, unlike the normal fight to dust act thingy,u can push larry off the cliff, all while harry watches in horror... The look on Harry's face when he sees Larry's fate is just.....sad. I love these goofers, like who doesn't!But watching ur best buddy get pushed to death and ur next for picks...feels so emotional gloomy. And Harry not wanting to be spared is just heartbreaking! What a miserable fate these guys had :(
Honestly The Muffet fight before them makes Harry and Larry fight even more fucked up to me. Like you got to expirience what a fight against an actually competent fighter looks like, so now you just all the more see just how defensless these two actually are against you.
Yeah it’d make more sense for harry to just jump off the cliff. He just witnessed his best friend die in front of him. Plus, it’d add more emotional weight to the fight and not recycle overused things put in a ut fangame
I remember seeing this fight for the first time, and man. Crazy how messed up of a fight it is. This was also the video that introduced me to this channel. Neat!
This is so true. In the entirety of undertale and its fangames, everytime i did a genocide route, i just felt nothing. Heck i felt more accomplished than anything which is NOT what undertale wanted AT ALL! I didnt feel a single sense of remorse or responsibility, i didnt feel bad... But this one fight. This ONE SINGLE FIGHT, had done it, for once in undertale... I felt... remorse. Real, actual, remorse. All because of this one single fight.
03:17 I mean, the concept of those fights was fine... But the fandom have squeez it and dried like a freacking lemon, and it doesn't help the fact that is always sans. Like, come on, there are other characters that can recall your hability ti come from the death
The only character that can actually see Frisk's resets (canonically) is Flowey, since he used to have that power (arguably Chara at the end of Genocide too, but they're basically just the player). Sans has godly observation powers, anyone else just gets deja vu. Though even Flowey wouldn't remember with Chara wiping and restoring the world at the end (either due to dying before that and/or being a more extreme version of a reset).
Even TheStoryPainter, the most silliest and funniest group, maybe making alot of the sad moments more cheery, was heavily upset with their deaths. My heart ached for a fat square dude and a raccoon.
I'd say "heavily upset" is putting it mildly. Josh (the main guy of the group) was absolutely HORRIFIED when he pushed Larry. His camera showed him having to sit on his bed for a solid few moments to try and recover, during which he said that Harry and Larry were his favorite characters in TS!Underswap, explaining his reaction. Not to mention he still hadn't recovered by the time he got to Crossbones' fight, and almost quite literally had a mental breakdown due to how frustrating Crossbones' attacks became.
What makes this even worse is how you use an ACT to kill Larry. I just feel horrible using an ACT to kill something, and that just doesn't sit right to me.
I love everything about this. Unlike other games that always shows a reason to kill chara for a specific reason or wanted to fight for the monsterkinds sake, these duo are doing for the sake of survival. This is a life or death situation Theyre FORCED to fight.Because they fear death.
I think the difference is that UTY doesn't really have a choice. Provided you already killed the rest of the steamworks, no matter what you do you're forced to progress the fight until you gain 7 LOVE and obliterate him. In the H&L fight, you have to chase them down, back them into a corner, refuse to spare them then push one of them off of a cliff which makes it so much more "your fault" you know? You can't even pin the blame on your character, that was entirely your choice
god. i usually don't feel too emotional about fictional characters or fiction in general; i don't cry much at movies and all that, but this fight honestly got me. fucking congratulations to team switched, they did a spectacular job with this. and the whole game in general.
"This is one of the most unsettling battles in ALL of gaming" okay that's a bit much lol, I wouldn't say it's the most unsettling battle in all of gaming. Even Earthbound has more unsettling battles where you have to play as one of your party members getting their limbs torn off and senses taken
honestly, im inspired. You made such an simple video so good with microsoft clipchamp. I kinda strived the same with my old channel but over complicated things, you tho, you had an clear idea, an good execution and an point, wich is why this is so good.
What makes TS!Underswap good is it's ability to give the player more to do than just the main story. Both Undertale and Deltarune have things off the beaten path, but not to the level TS!Underswap has. The ability to single out two goofballs who don't want to fight you, are trapped in a corner, and can be ignored given they ran away from the town you were headed towards is what cements the cruelty of this. The bad time is suppose to be the final hurdle to the "kill them all" route, with moments like these making the player question why they are doing this. Without moments like that, that final fight feels like just another boss fight.
this battle was crazy, seeing the push act gave me chills i wish the developers add more emotional fights like this one one thing that i noticed though is that the push itself seemed a bit too fast
what makes this so good is that it is REAL. they act like real people, you do a real thing, and the flavor text is objective. you don’t know what they’re thinking, and it’s all very in-your-face. no subtlety. you killed someone’s best friend.
i think there are some more messed up fights in like, deltatraveler maybe... that game has some weird lisa shit going on with its geno route i'm sure at least one fight in some game is more messed up than this 3:41 also was that a minecraft cave noise being sampled there
There’s so many aspects to this battle that make it so much more fucked up. The flavor text, oh god, the flavor text. Normally it’s something like “smells like mustard seed” or “the spiders do a choreographed dance.” For this fight?
“The boogiemen stand at the edge.”
“The boogiemen prepare their next team attack.”
“Harry tries to distract me while Larry looks for an escape route.”
“Harry and Larry call to someone ‘behind me.’ I’m not falling for it.”
“Smells like fear.”
“Like two animals backed into a corner.”
“Harry and Larry share desperate looks.”
there is also "Like two animals backed into a corner"
Also, at one point, Harry starts desperately feeding Larry pocket lint since he’s running out of healing items:
“Harry desperately feeds Larry some pocket lint!”
“Larry is wobbling.”
“Maybe…”
oh shit, that’s actually pretty cool.
We need more things like THIS in geno routes. Not "funni and silly character becomes serious and vengenful" but instead "funni and silly character becomes serious and completly and utterly frightened"

the thing i love the most is to see how dialogues and descriptions change in each route, seeing how in pacifist things are like "a carrot, guess will see" or something like that and then in geno is like "useless" or "waste of time", like in papyrus fight with the "lets get this done over with"

I died a ton so I don't know how many people know this, but his dialogue for his first phase actually changes every time you get past it:
First go through: he pulls in the classic fan-theory of him being a universe-hopper, complete with gaster references... and then reveals it was all pulled from a comic, and he was just buying time.

This is the only undertale\undertale fangame fight where i actually wanted to spare the enemies and felt bad killing them.
I still feel sorry for it
I think a big reason is because of how the game paints it... you can avoid chasing them at the start and just go to the village, are given multiple options to turn back around once you corner them, and during the fight, they are already and completely separable.....
That last sentence is kinda the point of no mercy routes
Larry was Too Good for This World.
As someone said in a comment, pushing Larry off to his death sucked the will to live out of Harry
He and Harry did taunt and mock Chara to their face, and then tried capturing them during the dummy chase
They were bullies in a way, but you're right in that they were still innocent
thanks for putting this into motion and diving deeper into this it really shows how much people can change circumstances. and how your choices do have a play in something MUCH more as they do matter of course. these two are fighting for their lifes and a way to get out of this and they are thinking of things they can do to escape and you can even spare them YOU don't have to kill them and they never wanted this to happen however it just makes things very dark. and that changes the mood alot rather than sans or papyrus fighting you cause you killed someone they loved. being filled by grief.

this is all i have to say on the matter however good job touching on this.

What is wrong with you? To be honest, this is a little but too edgy for an ending, but yeah
something better would be if after u. spared him, after leaving the room he is just gone. nothing eluding to anything, just gone.

There’s actually a lot of implications Larry survived the fall. Apparently I heard the battle only adds 1 to your kill count. That and the fact we don’t hear Larry hit the ground or dust means he might actually show up in the future.
I believe they updated it so that the kill count does go up.
If that happens i will be soooo happy. LIKE YES LET LARRY SHOW UP IN FUTURE CHAPTERSSSS
Honestly I want koffin k to show up in future chapters too since we didn’t get much of him in the genocide route
This fucking fight is the reason why this doesnt even feel like an RPG anymore.
Or a fangame anymore lol
This wasn’t a fight. It was just a murder

I love that this fangame is getting more attention and is really starting to gain traction as of late.
What you said about this fight being the most unsettling in all of gaming.
You are so right about that.

Imagine if you could spare harry after pushing larry, and then after some time he comes back for revenge
Imagine, instead.

Yeah it’d make more sense for harry to just jump off the cliff. He just witnessed his best friend die in front of him. Plus, it’d add more emotional weight to the fight and not recycle overused things put in a ut fangame

Bro imagine how fucked up it would be if you can spare Harry

I mean, the concept of those fights was fine...

These guys pissed me so much during Pacifist. My reaction when I pushed Larry was like "YEEEEES!" but then it's was instant "OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE"
I love everything about this.
Unlike other games that always shows a reason to kill chara for a specific reason or wanted to fight for the monsterkinds sake, these duo are doing for the sake of survival.
This is a life or death situation
Theyre FORCED to fight.Because they fear death.
I know! What a nice detail. The look on their faces just know they don't wanna hurt you.
to be fair, most full fangames have a please spare my life battle. For example, axis in the geno route in yellow
Other fangames make you the villain fighting the hero.
This battle makes you the villain hunting your victims.
god. i usually don't feel too emotional about fictional characters or fiction in general; i don't cry much at movies and all that, but this fight honestly got me. fucking congratulations to team switched, they did a spectacular job with this. and the whole game in general.
That why TS!Underswap its the best fangame, its peak even it isn't full fangame.
"This is one of the most unsettling battles in ALL of gaming"
okay that's a bit much lol, I wouldn't say it's the most unsettling battle in all of gaming. Even Earthbound has more unsettling battles where you have to play as one of your party members getting their limbs torn off and senses taken
Funny, this is the kind of thing im obsessed with
3:17 JESUS CHRIST SANS WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU
S:eghm... squid games
honestly, im inspired. You made such an simple video so good with microsoft clipchamp. I kinda strived the same with my old channel but over complicated things, you tho, you had an clear idea, an good execution and an point, wich is why this is so good.
*Just pushed a man to his death*
"I take a sip from my trusty Mu Milk. Ah, refreshing!"
Real popple and rookie vibes
You can even see Harry realizing what's about to happen for a few frames before Larry goes over the edge
(this probably doesn't go along with what you commented) yeah, and don't forget about his (failed) attempt to save Larry
Without moments like that, that final fight feels like just another boss fight.
this battle was crazy, seeing the push act gave me chills
i wish the developers add more emotional fights like this one
one thing that i noticed though is that the push itself seemed a bit too fast
I's didn't die, I's went phase 2
what makes this so good is that it is REAL. they act like real people, you do a real thing, and the flavor text is objective. you don’t know what they’re thinking, and it’s all very in-your-face. no subtlety. you killed someone’s best friend.
i think there are some more messed up fights in like, deltatraveler maybe...
that game has some weird lisa shit going on with its geno route
i'm sure at least one fight in some game is more messed up than this
3:41 also was that a minecraft cave noise being sampled there
If you are talking about mercilessly killing 2 children , then yeah
