- The ongoing Naga peace negotiations between the government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) or NSCN-IM, the rebel group fighting for the liberation of the Naga people, are believed to be nearing a decisive phase, except for the questions of a separate flag and constitution.
Since the Naga revolutionary group entered its ceasefire with the government of India in 1997, peace talks between the two parties have seen many ups and downs trying to explore a genuine, acceptable and durable solution through bilateral talks.
During the last 22 years, several high-level rounds of talks have happened between the two parties, including the historic signing of ‘Framework Agreement’ in 2015 which was based on the unique history and culture of the Nagas.
However, the Naga Peace Accord, a framework agreement, as it has been termed, seems to have hit a roadblock to a final settlement since the BJP-led government at the Centre is not willing to negotiate on the matter of a separate flag and constitution whereas the Nagas feels that such symbolism demands are their legitimate aspiration and birthright.

Let Nagaland be a separate Nation/Entity or whatever they want.. I support their cause but forget about integrating lands from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh or Manipur or anywhere else except Nagaland.. Ground reality is that the 16 tribes of Nagaland are willing to sign an agreement with GOI, but the armed outfit NSCN IM, who compose of one tribe from Manipur are unwilling to conceded unless they are given full power in state of Nagaland. The flag and constitution are just an excuse of the armed outfit to stall the process until they get their demand of power in the state of Nagaland. Which by the way would result in civil war because the 16 tribes of Nagaland state will not tolerate any Tankhul from Manipur to rule over them. That's the ground reality.

Nagaland's literacy rate & voting percentage is damn good. Hats off to the people.
But the development rate(roads/collages/infrastructure) is among the worst coz the tax money is given to these people instead of GOI.

Being practical over emotional is important in today's times as Chinese eye the territory of Nagaland & practically,it's crucial to be part of Indian Union to avoid bloodshed(Indian side & naga side) & prevent Chinese occupation as they did with Tibet.

Fighting for a COMPLETE independence, a separate sovereign naga country was the true cause for which NNC was given birth to! To only a separate flag and constitution demand in the present day scenario.😢
But the shillong accord signed by the NNC was almost the same as surrendering the fight for independence and it resulted in the forming of NSCN, it became more difficult after that accord

Nagas were promised their freedom by Mahatma Gandhi... July 19- 1947. Mahatma Gandhi said, Nagas have every right to be independent... If you say that you are not Indian and your country does not belong to India, then the matter ends there. Nobody will force you to join the Indian union. I love and support naga innocent people but i never support NSCN IM they are looter in highway they collect so many tax from passengers bus and trucks sometimes they torture driver for not giving their demand same on you if you have guts work hard and develop your militant why you (NSCM) beg money to those innocent national highway drivers.
