Here's the link to the ShopLifeTV video on CSB replacement: th-cam.com/video/b2P14XdaKSM/w-d-xo.html Also, Hurricane Helene is already gone. We weren't directly hit; it just passed nearby. Thankfully, there was no major damage in my area. Just some tree debris.
Glad to see more progress with this project. The glitter in your drain pain is relatively normal for auto's. Even on a fresh rebuild or factory reman and just running it for a few minutes you'll have glitter in the pan . When the fluid comes out dark brown, stinking terribly, and the glitter it thick like grease . She dead then lol .
I did a transmission service (oil, filter, and shift kit) a couple years ago. I was surprised how dark the trans fluid was, considering the low miles. But maybe some of the old trans fluid mixed with it?
kind of curious why you wouldn't use a ZF or Getrag 5 or 6 speed manual?. I'm pushing 500whp on my stock Getrag g260 with a twin disc clutch and its been great. still a cool build. super interesting how compatible the Cadillac transmission was. I've had some pretty rough experience with those 5L40 Transmissions. they Shift really sloppy and don't last compared to the ZF. Interesting to see how it will compare. side note. that fluid out of the ZF wasn't too bad. even for fresh-ish fluid it seems like normal wear from the clutches/friction plates.
Depends on how you define "better." People say the shift quality and comfort are better with the ZF 5HP19. But the GM unit is a stronger gearbox. This is a street/strip car, so I'm more concerned with the latter.

I'd give it to you for the price of shipping. But shipping might be pricey.

What's your plans as far as programming the trans to the car ?
ZHP tune, and hope for the best. 😛

I decided to do something different. The E46 manual swaps are just as monotonous as LS swaps.
I have a question for a mk4 oil catch can video. Do you live in a cold place? Mean do you have problems the can freeze up?
I'm in Florida. So freezing is not a concern.
@@michaelblacktree thank you
Isn’t the ZF transmission supposed to be better..?
